Crime Scene tech Frank Brata digs deep and finds the courage to ask his colleague, Sarah, out for coffee after work. Their good time turns into a nightmare when Frank wakes up the next morning covered in blood, with no recollection of what happened, and Sarah’s body floating in the tub. Determined not to go to prison for a crime he’s horrified he may have committed, he scrubs the crime scene clean, and, tormented by text messages from the real killer, begins a race against the clock to solve the murder before his own coworkers, his own friends, solve it first, and find him guilty.
Billionaire Richard Tate is the toast of the town, loved by everyone but his wife. His plans for a romantic weekend with his mistress ends in disaster, waking the next morning to find her murdered, floating in the tub. After fleeing in a panic, he returns to find the hotel room spotless, and no sign of the body. An envelope found at the scene contains not the expected blackmail note, but something far more sinister.
Two murders, with the same MO, targeting both the average working man, and the richest of society, sets a rejuvenated Detective Shakespeare, and his new reluctant partner, Amber Trace, after a murderer whose motivations are a mystery, and who appears to be aided by the very people they would least expect—their own.
Tick Tock, Book #2 in the internationally bestselling Detective Shakespeare Mysteries series, picks up right where Depraved Difference left off, and asks a simple question: What would you do? What would you do if you couldn’t prove your innocence, but knew you weren’t capable of murder? Would you hide the very evidence that might clear you, or would you turn yourself in and trust the system to work?
With over one million books sold, award winning and USA Today bestselling author J. Robert Kennedy has been ranked by Amazon as the #1 Bestselling Action Adventure novelist based upon combined sales. He is the author of over fifty international bestsellers including the smash hit James Acton Thrillers. He lives with his wife and daughter and writes full-time.
Detective Justin Shakespeare is back with another strange crime on his hands in this thoroughly intriuging thriller.
Frank Brata, the shy Tech from NYPD takes a chance from his usual introverted self and asks a colleague out for coffee. Soon after he is waking up in a room full of blood and a dead body with no memory of the intervening events and only a gut feeling that he didn't commit the crime but with no proof to the contrary and before he's able to flee the scene, the police are outside and knocking on doors.
For Detective Amber Trace, having caught the call from an anonimous caller that a dead body can be found in a block of flats, she is then not happy that a potential suspect got away and then Dect. Shakespeare is handed her case (yet again).
It's all hands to the fore as the clues slowly unravel and a lot of misdirects are thrown into this tightly written homicide thriller which will have you guessing until the very end.
Toke a few years after reading the first novel to get around to this one but i wish I did it sooner.
The story changes still from the novel has this one incorporate the technology side of crime to give a more hidden identitie for the killer but even till the end Detective Shakespeare will never see it coming has he the NYPD department and an Overeager news-crew try to put the clues on who is slowly trying to destroy NYPD IT officer Frank psych and lead him to his death.
The story fills like a modern Sherlock Holmes novel that was co-authored by the Madison family with how inter connect and the ways the perpetrators where lead by a truly evil mastermind. The novel is a great story for anyone looking to injoy a solid mystery novel that’ll keep you guess till the end.
I read the first book by J. Robert Kennedy and loved it so I purchased this second book. It kept me captivated until the details got too much with the containers at the end and just a little too much detail. The final sentence in the book really got me, though! A fast read and really pretty good. Looking forward to reading #3 with Detective Shakespeare.
This is a great book! I couldn't put it down and had to know how it ended but again, I didn't see it coming! Don't miss this book! Now I have to read the next book! Thanks again for the great book!
Tick Tock book 2 of Shakespeare Mysteries Series was also a good read by author J Robert Kennedy but in my opinion not as good as Depraved Difference. Don't get me wrong I liked Tick Tock and I do recommend reading it. Maybe it's because I'm still sulking over Detective Eldridge in Depraved Difference. Tech geek Frank has really shocked me to the core in Tick Tock. Not once did I believe Frank was a murder but you never know. I never thought that of Eldridge either. Could you really imagine waking up and finding a dead body in your bathtub? Really what would you do?
Wild ride. Fast paced. Not as shocking as the first Shakespeare series but the mind of the serial makes you wonder how they sleep at night. It's worth a shot at being read. Looking forward to the third part of this series.
I can't seem to put Kennedy's books down! I feel emotionally connected to the characters and everything written seems plausible. I've been on an adrenaline ride from the very beginning, taking me through the roller coaster of emotions that I've come to love.
I found the first book hard to get into until 20 pages. This book captured me from the first page. I have most of his books and enjoy the twists and turns of the plots. The author has a way of bringing you into the story as if you were there. Highly entertaining.
