Jenna Jax-Anders hit rock bottom in high school. Or so she thought. From rock star heiress to knocked-up has been, she turned it all around, marrying the punk rock baby daddy love of her life. The perfect Hollywood fairytale. Until the day she walked in on him kissing her best friend.
As she struggles to find herself and redefine the world around her, she faces the challenges of raising her over-achieving teenage daughter, the heartbreak of losing her best friend (backstabbing aside), and emerging from the shadows of two famous last names to find her own identity. Oh, there’s also the tiny issue of her husband’s record label, backed by an anonymous mogul whose morally ambiguous creative direction may ruin them all.
Sharisse Coulter, originally from Lake Tahoe, started with a smidge of college in Paris (not Texas), a dash in Australia and, voilà! A master’s degree in Anthropology framed and placed lovingly on a shelf, never to be dusted off again. Instead, she took the clear path to success, marrying a musician, becoming his manager and touring the country playing gigs, taking photos, and making music videos. Finally, she had a son (and subsequent identity crisis), which fueled the completion of her first novel ROCK MY WORLD. Now at work on her second and third novels, she’s concurrently embarking on a 5 month 55 city national music/book tour while perfecting the art of Lego and enjoying her addiction to reading novels on her iPhone. It’s a wonderful life for an insatiable wanderluster. You can follow the adventure (or come say "hi" in person) at: http://anovelmusictour.com
Rock My World has totally captured every sense of emotion in my body. it's a story of loss, betrayal and more. nothing can compare the things on Alex has gone through. The predicament of Alex was really heart breaking and the way he handled the situation makes it even more exciting and raw. The emotion you'll put to in this book is totally real, you can relate to Alex in every way. You'll find yourself admire him for his decisions and for the things he did for his family. Plot wise and story wise this book is really good and I would totally recommend this to you!
I really enjoyed this book. There was a little bit of everything in it. Heartache and so many emotions. I laughed through out it as well. The characters are not so perfect and the story was great.
Jenna, the heroine of ROCK MY WORLD, is not only a former model and the daughter of a famous rocker, but also the wife of Alex, a musician who's earned his chops and is now riding his own wave to fame. The blissful life she's created for him and their teen daughter, Felicity, is her haven --
But that world comes crashing down around her when she discovers that Airika, her closest friend since high school, has been sabotaging her relationships with both her husband and her daughter.
My guilty little pleasure is discovering books that gives me an authentic POV on a sort of glamorous life the rest of us can only dream about. Sharisse Coulter's insider's take on the rock world is that--and much, much more because of the complexity of her characters, who seem to leap from the book's pages. Your heart breaks for Jenna with every betrayal because you get who she is: a woman whose chance to create her own identity beyond those dearest to her is stymied with each twist of fate.
The essence of a compelling page-turner is exactly that: real, and satisfying to the end.
I just learned of this book from my blog partner and I have to say I'm so excited she recommended this book to me. I was so surprised with this book. There was so much that I didnt expect from this and I loved it all.
I have to say the blurb gives nothing away about whats within these pages. What I found was a story of secrets, betrayal, lust, loss and so much more. Nothing is what they seem and unlikely people find the honest person within themselves to help those in need.
I felt so bad for Alex. He only wanted to take care of his family but everything backfires and now his marriage is in shambles. His wife Jenna needs time away from what she's witnessed but Alex thinks she is only getting farther away from him both physically and mentally. And their daughter Felicity, that poor girl, not is she only getting news second hand about her famous parents but a new love has blossomed and even that is taken away so abruptly.
Tragedy brings them all home and even though their loss is harsh everything falls into place and they all find some semblance of peace.
I had a great time reading about this family and regardless of what may be portrayed in the media nothing is what they seem. Go to the source and ask them directly. You will find the real story.
First off let me say I love the cover! I know this will sound awful of me but I am a sucker for a pretty cover and sadly I do judge books by the covers sometimes.
I liked Jenna and hated what she was going thru but a part of me feels she acted a bit high schoolish about how she handled it and even a little neglectful on the part of abandoning her daughter to run off to parts unknown and sulk over her problems when she should have put on her big girl panties and faced them head on to begin with. Best friend or not had I seen her kissing my hubby especially in my own home I would of decked her or at the very least stood my ground and started asking questions not run off not truly understanding what was going on but I understand folks do handle things in different ways....
The biggest thing I feel I am taking away from Rock My World is it's never to late to start over, to find yourself, or even to re-create yourself.
I may be slightly biased, but on the other hand, I had no idea what to expect when she started writing this. My experience with artists from the music world working on their first song is that despite their intelligence or musical knowledge the result is more often than not less than market ready. So I was horrified that I might have to fake it with my wife when I was the first read this novel. Instead, I was so impressed that decided we needed to plaster the cover of this book on the side of our tour bus and promote it to the masses, like it deserves, while she becomes rich and famous (and I become her toy boy).
Rock My World was the first book by Sharisse Coulter and it was fabulous. The storyline was great and had me hooked from page one. The characters were great with lots of depth and emotion. It was great to watch characters grow right before your eyes and see how much they changed from the beginning of the book. Great job Sharisse on a truly fabulous book!!
With Rock My World, new to me author, Sharisse Coulter introduces the reader to the inner circle of the movers and shakers of the rock-n-roll industry. Jenna grew up in this world, the daughter of a famous musician. An unplanned pregnancy derails her plans and instead she marries Alex, the love of her life and up and coming punk rocker. To the outside world, it appears she has made a success of her life, married to her high school sweetheart and raising a teenage daughter. Everything seems perfect until she comes home and finds her husband and her best friend, Airika kissing. As Jenna’s world crumbles down around her ears, she struggles to find herself and meaning in her life as more secrets come to light.
I liked Jenna and found her easy to connect with and relate to. She starts out as quite naïve in the beginning but by the end of the book, she has developed a spine and has discovered her authentic self. I liked Felicity, Jenna’s daughter. She is a bright young woman suffering the normal teenaged angst while trying to cope with the uncertainty of her parents’ marriage and her own new first love. I liked Alex but found myself getting frustrated with him at times for being a weak character and not doing enough to resolve the issues that I believe he is solely responsible for. I did not like Airika but I found myself feeling a little sorry for her at times, wondering how she can look at herself in the mirror at the end of the day, while knowing she doesn’t have true love and loyalty from those around her. She brings it on herself but I didn’t find any joy in seeing her suffer.
I struggled with a few of the plot twists that I felt had no relevance and was frustrated at these twists pulling me out of the story. I also was frustrated at how long it took Jenna and Alex to communicate. When your marriage is falling apart and you have a teenaged daughter to boot, you don’t run away or stay out on tour. You come home and deal with it. I had a hard time accepting how Alex’s manager and record label made unrealistic demands and used his contract as a threat and he allowed them to bully him. He should have stood up to them much sooner. Though I enjoyed seeing Jenna find her spirit, I feel like she could have done that while being with her daughter, especially when her daughter experiences her own life-changing events.
My Final Verdict: Though I struggled with several aspects of this story, I found it to be enjoyable for the most part. I recommend it for readers who enjoy stories with complex character relationships.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of Rock My World from the author in exchange for an honest review.
When I read the title, my first thought was " Hopefully another Rockstar book! ".....And I was right. *smile* But Rock My Work by the very talented Sharisse Coulter wasn´t your typical teenage romance with " to die for" sexy rock Gods. This was actually a more realistic and mature version of a rockstar world. Nothing was picture perfect and there was some real trouble in paradise. There wasn´t really anything to complain about, since I´m a huge fan of halfways realistic stories. Rock My World came pretty close to the real deal in life. I had a break from all the drama overload happening around 16 - 23 year old characters and I had a chance to read about a rockstar life with characters in their mid 30´s. Not that I´m complaining about the other YA books out there. I´m really not. I was just surprised to read about older characters and the way they handled things. Love can be tough at times when you´re actually in love with someone. But has anyone ever thought about characters who have been in love with each other since high school, about how their lifes would be after being together for so long? And what about those characters having a child? People have other issues to deal with at a certain age... and if a teenager is involved you´ve got a whole lot of thinking and worrying to do.
That´s where the story starts out. Jenna had it all until one day, she became pregnant during high school. Her life gets turned upside down! She marries the love of her life and lives a picture perfect dream. Married to a Husband who is on the road of fame, and having a teenage daughter, Jenna lives a life anyone of us could have. When Jenna wants to surprise her Husband for their anniversary she bumps into a situation that changes her whole life!
I will stop right here before I start ranting on about the story. What I really enjoyed about this book was that it was simple and also a quick read. I read it within two nights and I was left happy at the end! I had alot of " Oh, that just did not HAPPEN!" moments, and of course, I was riding the emotional wave here too. There were many situations where I was just saying " Noooooooo!". I couldn´t believe the things that happened in this story. ( it´s always bad to know stuff that isn´t right between couples). And I personally would have dealt much differently with the situations..but thats just me.
The characters were true and human. If you´re looking for devoted love, happiness, sorrow, betrayal and anger......you´ll really enjoy this book!
The divas are giving Rock My World by the lovely and talented author Sharisse Coulter 4 out of 5 Champagne glasses.

In Rock My World by Sharisse Coulter, a fantastic book to read. Daughter (Jenna) of rock star getting pregnant by guy(Alex) that want to play music, while in senior year. Later, on Jenna, catches her bestfriend (Airika) kissing her husband of almost 19 years. Alex, is on tour with his band; Airika, is with the band handling their costumes, she let him know about her feelings. In the mist of things Alex, inform Simon (manager), that he want out of his contract; Want to go home be his wife & daughter (Felicity). Simon, told him no way. Well, I can tell you what take place; Why spoil the fun out of reading Rock My World. Trust me you will not want to put the down book until the last page. Then, you wanted it to keep on. With the twists & turns going on with Jenna, Alex & Airika you be in awe. The ending could have went in two ways. I will give Rock My World five stars, will be reading it again. My friend swipe my book, she fell in love with it. Rock My World is great book to curl up on the couch, to read; So, go get you a copy today, you will not be disappointed. Sharisse Coulter
I really wish I had been on vacation the last two weeks. I mean, I guess that’s always the case, but now in particular it would have been fun to read Sharisse Coulter’s Rock My World on the beach. On the other hand, it was a welcome distraction from a really busy few weeks. The book has a southern Cali fast-paced vibe and plenty of heartache and scandal. Which is funny, because Sharisse strikes me as a really sweet, scandal-free woman, but I should know how far fiction can be from reality.
There were times when reading this book when I just wanted to slap everyone!!!
Let's start by saying Jenna and Alex had a blissfully, perfect marriage. They got married when they were 17 because Jenna got pregnant and now 16 years later they seem to be just as in love as they were in high school. Until, Jenna comes home one afternoon and finds her best friend's lips on her husbands. After her husband catches up with her and explains that Airika threw herself at him, they move on to the next day. With the image still fresh in her mind Airika unleashes years of secrets to Jenna that has Jenna falling apart and running away from reality.
After realizing her best friend has been sabotaging her relationships for years and that the hatred between Alex and Airika actually has a back story, Jenna runs off to "find herself." This journey leaves her 16 year old daughter in the care of her grandparents and her husband on the road with the bitch who is trying to ruin their marriage.
MY OPINION: I couldn't believe a grown woman reacted the way Jenna did when she stumbled upon her husband, Alex, and her best friend, Airika. I don't know but I'm pretty sure I would have stuck around long enough to slap one of them and kicked THEM out, not run away. And not for nothing but, YOU HAVE A DAUGHTER JENNA! Yeah your world seems like it is falling apart all around you but hello! There is a teenage girl who you just left behind when you ran away to "find yourself." I think the way Jenna handled the situation was so immature and irresponsible especially since she is married to a famous rock star.
