Of all the professions open to women, the one with the highest marriage rate is surely that of air stewardess. Here is the story of one of them, Susan Shelton of World Wide Airways, and the officers - fickle or faithful, gay or serious - with whom she flew on the sunshine route to South America and the Caribbean.
Very solid 3 stars despite the standard airline romance focus on shifts and codes of conduct. The h is a nice person devoid of ego but full of self-respect, while the H is one I would date. He has his fussy captain-in-love moments, but he also tries hard to figure out the h and doesn't make her do the running.
The story was bogged down with too many of the heroine’s duties and travails as a flight attendant. She also has the oh too sweet martyr personality that prevents her from defending herself. She is blindly loyal to her undeserving friend/ housemate and ex boyfriend (who is a douch), who get her in trouble.
The Hero is a nice decent guy, a bit of a bumbler when trying to ask the heroine out. He makes a hash of it so for most of the story they stumble along, and get caught up in all sorts of misunderstandings before they get their HEA.
Except for one date, i dont know when the romance happened. 🙄 But then thats par for the course with these vintage books.
Found this in the attic. This one I read as a teenager (from my mother's collection of romance novels). Still remember how much I loved this one. Ofcourse it is a typical novel of the 50s.
Susan is an air hostess and the hero is the handsome captain. In the end ofcourse he asks her to marry him and she will give up her profession.
It gives a nice impression of passenger flights in these days.
