“Ocean Snow” is a tightly woven and fast-paced story that’s tough to put down. The tone and atmosphere is established from page one in a very eloquent and gradually intensifying manner that truly pulls you into the plot. The characters were interesting and engaging throughout. Typically, this is not my type of genre but I was curious and was most certainly not let down. The quality of the writing, the concept and its execution and the tightness of this book overall made it highly enjoyable. No words were wasted – they all served to move the story forward, while at the same time providing a nice, stylistic flavor. I will be curious to see what other works will come from the author(s).

At first, I wasn't sure what to make of this book. The back copy print didn't tell me what was really going on, so I plunged in and was very surprised. Well written, this gave me the feeling I used to get when reading a Stephen King book--that thing in the pit of your stomach, that queasy uncomfortable feel when you know something b-a-d is going to happen. And oh, boy does it. A very visual book, I liked the frame of reference from it took from everyone (and thing).

What's going on in this book? This: A family that fell on hard times, the Taylors buy a 'fixer-upper' in rural Georgia, thinking that this will be the turning point for them. Along with their 3 kids (15 year old Kevin and 4?5? year old deaf twins Jacob and Christopher), and 2 Mastiffs they buy the property from a slumlord who doesn't bother to tell them it used to be used to manufacture drugs.

Couldn't finish

The premise of this book is promising. HOWEVER, the author forgot a "minor" but very important detail: section breaks between paragraphs differentiate new ideas or sections of the story!

It reads like one long run-up sentence -- a horrible way to tell a story. I strongly recommend that the author BACK to school and learn how to write proper paragraphs!

A large bite of horror locks its jaws over terror, when the family pets go rapid after an accidental taste of Ocean Snow.
Adapted from a screenplay by J.D. Simone this horror snaps with action and suspense and bites to the very end.

"Mastiffs on a drug-fueled rampage terrorize a young family after they unknowingly move into a former 'bath-salts' lab." This pretty much sums up the book. There was some tension and twists in the story that kept me more interested than I initially thought. The only thing I found troublesome was the unrealistically high comprehension and cognitive levels of the five year old deaf twins.

TERRIFYING page turner!

The action never stops. I really couldn't stop reading this until I was done and then overslept on Thanksgiving. Great writing!
