This book is appropriately named as it's the last story that involves my favorite cops, Kieran and Jubilee. I was excited to jump into it and sad at the same time. I didn't want these guys' story line to be done. Granted, I knew I would still see them, but they wouldn't be the primary focus of the next few stories, although, thank goodness they are still there as strong supporting cast. Anyway, let's just say I was excited to jump into this book.

This story started off on a sad note as Sheriff DePriest was murdered, in an underground whorehouse of all things, and his wife came running to Jubilee and Kieran for help. Turns out the sheriff had been trying to uncover a child sex ring being run out of the whorehouse and when they found out, they killed him. So, now it's down to Kieran and Jubilee to finish the investigation. I'm just going to say this. There are WAY too many sickos in this world.

I have a lot of reviews to write today, so this is just going to be my notes.

Trying to be a comic farce at times and then turns around and becomes a tragedy. Fortunately, the farce pieces were small and the rest was really good. Excellent plot, good peril and action, and I love the characters.

If Nigel knows the seller why would he need the middle woman?

They would never ever use an eleven year old for anything.

There were these ridiculous assumptions that turn out to be true that really bugged me. For example, Jessica G left her husband in NY to move to compound. Father has been trying to see daughter but she's been sold into slavery. The heroes figure Derek is the father and arrest him. Huh? Yeah, there was no reason they would know he'd joined the commune from what Darlene said. In their conversation he even said, "Are you sure it was Derek F?" when she hadn't even said a name. Those leaps of ridiculous abduction turn out to be true but it's not at all logical from the info they have. In fact the opposite deduction makes more sense since he was trying to see his daughter. I assumed he was like the father in the other case. (That was the one where it sounded to me like the father was guilty. )

Wrapped up perfectly way too fast. Would have liked them to find the boy earlier but I understand why they couldn't.

Last dance is so moving not only for the story between Kieran and Jubilee but also for the hard topic of trade of sex slave, and pedophilia. Naturally I happy that to relationship between two protagonists has been given more space. I'm a little bit romantic so the end has heated my heart also because finally Jub is coming out and decided to live with Kieran to light of sun. This book as all series is fantastic, so exciting and amazing for setting, topic and characters...so still I repeat myself...

Estos libros me tienen en vilo con su historia. Me han tenido sufriendo con la decisiones de los protagonistas pero definitivamente me han ido encantando.

A Joyfully Jay Review

Last Dance is the fourth book in the Orgasmic Texas Dawn series by A.J. Llewellyn and D.J. Manly. This series is best read in order from beginning to end, otherwise the past events will only confuse you.
This book is by far the best in the series. It still has noticeable problems, but the story is the best out of the four so far. All around – the characters, their relationship, the mystery – it was just a better story.

This is the first time that I actually felt a real connection between Jubilee and Kieran. They finally became a couple in my eyes while reading this story. Yes, they still have a lot of sex and most of their conversation is dripping with double entendre and cheesy sexual innuendo. But their relationship has finally, finally become more than sex. Jubilee is coming to realize that remaining in the closet will only serve to damage any type of relationship he wants with Kieran. He’s seems stronger and more in control of his life, not caring what other people think. Kieran is more understanding of Jubilee’s position and his choices. They are protective of each other as well as Jubilee’s family. And Kieran is accepted as family by Jubilee’s sister and nephews. They are not only forming a relationship, but a family.

Both the romance and procedural drama/mystery is the best in the series so far. I like the change in direction from drugs to human trafficking. The undercover operation is entertaining. The addition of Darlene and Sunny’s relationship is strangely appealing, and Sunny’s story is funny and quirky and sad. But like I said, there are still noticeable flaws. There are some confusing aspects involving a religious cult and the slavery ring and Pauline’s new boyfriend (she’s Jubilee’s sister) that could have used some more detail to avoid eye-brow-scrunching confusion. Also the details from book to book aren’t consistent. Pauline’s boyfriend was a lawyer in the previous book, but in this book he’s a chiropractor. Earl, who was in the first installment, was the villain in that story, but described as more of a victim in this book. And finally I’m not sure what to make of the part of the storyline that involved the FBI most wanted criminal turned call girl. It had absolutely nothing to do with the storyline and had no real impact on the outcome of the story.

Unfortunately, I can still see the difference in authors through the characters they write. Some of the words used by Jubilee aren’t words I have ever heard in the south and I’ve lived here my whole life.

Although, I will concede that Jubilee finally sounds like a more intelligent person in the past couple of books. There is still quite a bit of repetition in the description of events that happened in the previous chapter as if readers hadn’t just finished reading the scene being described. It’s still frustrating and still annoying, but easier to forgive due to the better storyline.

I feel that if the series were to end with this book, it would be on a high note. Kieran and Jubilee’s relationship is finally solid. The story was good. And the overall feel of this book is so much better than the rest of the series. However, this is not the end of the series, and I don’t know how I feel about that. The lack of consistency is the one thing that keeps me from wanting this series to continue, but since it is, I will continue on in hopes that it continually progresses as it has the past couple of installments.

This story is part of a series and must be read in order. Jubilee and Kieran are dragged into an undercover operation when Dillon (Sheriff of Lone Trail) is murdered; it leads them to a child sex trafficking ring. They discover a link to a cult and set out to trap the leader, but there are problems closer to home when they discover someone trying to recruit Pauline (Jubilee’s sister) and her sons for the cult, and someone else gives Jubilee’s nephew’s drugs and Sunny (Darlene’s husband) is brutally attacked in a gay bashing. Can Jubilee and Kieran solve all their new problems and keep their relationship going?

This story is a great addition to the Orgasmic Texas Dawn series. We left off the last book with a desperate late night visit from Dillon’s wife, Elsie, and we now find out exactly what happened. Jubilee and Kieran have a very passionate relationship and they finally decide just what is most important to both of them, and what they both want. This story is filled with all sorts of complications as Jubilee investigates Dillon’s murder; it leads them to Kieran going undercover as the cat houses new owner.

We are joined by characters from previous books in the way of Sunny and Earl; we have some new characters joining us and some hair-raising circumstances. Jubilee’s and Kieran’s relationship is strong, even if they have had to hide it, and we see how it progresses further and the realization they both come to and the decisions they make. The characters are strong and the written is good, the storyline moves very fast and there is a lot going on, so much so that you do have to suspend reality a little, but we do get some quality naked time with Kieran and Jubilee (although Jubilee really should destroy his phone lol).

I enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to the rest of the series, being able to see how Kieran’s and Jubilee’s relationship progresses and deepens is great, the new addition to the family should make things interesting and fresh. I will admit to being sad to see some of the characters gone as I really did like them, and I honestly think that Darlene needs a psych evaluation because she is clearly insane and doesn’t live in the real world.

I will recommend this to those that love cowboys, crime, strong characters, hot sex, surprising turns and a brilliant happy ending.

4 star review by Kimberley

This is book #4 in what I was told was another fantastic series by the wonderful writing duo A.J. Llewellyn and D.J. Manly. I must admit that this is the first book that I’ve read with this series and I was a bit lost as to what was going on. The confusion didn’t last long as I was swept up in the storyline and characters. The book was extremely well written, but then again, I’ve read many others of these authors’ titles so that was not a surprise. The book began with the murder of the loved and respected Sheriff DePriest who was murdered while trying to uncover a child sex ring. His widow came to Jubilee and Kieran to finish the investigation her husband started. As with all of Llewellyn and Manly collaborations, the plot and storyline would be simple enough and just when you think you know how it will turn out, they take you in another direction. This is what I most enjoy about these authors: they keep you on your toes; your attention is grabbed from the first word to the very last. There are quite a few plot twists and turns that you won’t expect. The was hard to read as it deals with the subject of child sex trade and pedophilia, but also quite moving as you see that Jubilee has decided to come out and be with Kieran in the open; his coming out, if you will. Yes, the action and adventure aspect of the story can be a bit over the top at times, but that in an odd way, is what made the story all the more exciting for me. I really wish I would have read the books in order; as I understand this is book #4 of 13. The supporting/surrounding characters back stories would have come in handy while reading their interaction with the two main characters. There was a bit of sadness when I realized the men were leaving Lone Trail but you were left feeling that these men were moving forward to something bigger and better. I truly liked everything about this book. Llewellyn and Manly always manage to successfully combine perfect balance between mystery and suspense, action and adventure, romance and sizzling sex. I truly enjoyed these characters and my interest in the surrounding/supporting characters has definitely been piqued. I will definitely go back and read the rest of the books in this series.

The final volume in Jubilee and Kieran's story, but thankfully not the Orgasmic Texas Dawn series, is as surprising, emotional, and action-packed as they come. It is time for a final decision for Jubilee and Kieran: can they find a way to stay together? Or will this, as the title says, be their last dance? This question had me on tenterhooks throughout the book, since there are few things as important to me as a happy ending.

Jubilee has always been very scared for Kieran when he had to go undercover, but in this book, he gets to do the same. A joint undercover operation with these two is bound to be interesting, so hold on to your hats! The crime ring they fight this time is even more horrible than previous ones, and I was happy to see Jubilee and Kieran join forces to get these criminals. Jubilee's interest in a long-term relationship is also very clear, but then, he has always been the one who seemed to be more in favor of it, emotionally, I mean, even though he had a hard time coming out.

Kieran gets to find out what it's like to have a lover who is also undercover. Yes, Jubilee's work as US Marshal wasn't exactly a walk in the park, but going undercover to break a child trading organization is different. Playing the role of a slimeball while having his lover watch, sort of, was also an interesting challenge for him. It isn’t an easy realization for Kieran, but one of the conclusions he draws, of wanting to make the relationship with Jubilee work, is a good one.

One of the greatest things about this final book in the Jubilee/Kieran story is to see how far their relationship has come. And I was gratified to see they were just as interested in working out a happy ending for themselves as I was in seeing it happen! The supporting characters added as much as always to the story, and I am sorry to see them go. Well, maybe some of them will be back? You never know! If you're looking for the hot final installment of this entrancing story, if you want even more unique characters and new criminals to catch, then you will love this book (definitely to be read in sequence).

The authors' writing style is crisp, clear, and displays a in-depth and well-researched knowledge of police procedures, how crime organizations work, and a great understanding of how different law enforcement agencies work together to solve crimes.
As the story goes along, the characters grow closer together and the obstacles in their path only reinforce the deepening love they have for each other. They decide that no matter what they have to do, they will no longer let anyone else dictate how and when they can show their love.
I absolutely LOVE how the characters get their HEA and I also really enjoyed reading this fascinating, enthralling read and would definitely recommend it to everyone who loves a fantastic tale.

Keiran and Jube are an odd couple. Two alpha's with only law enforcement in common. One from small-town Texas, the other from Vancouver BC. Over the course of the four stories, we find out more and more about Keiran's past. Jube's past isn't quite as clear-cut. I have a feeling we may still be learning about Jube, however.

3.5 Stars - I liked that we got more of the action this time! There is so much going on though! Good end to this couples story arc; there is humour, death, drama, bad guys getting caught, and sexy times.
