How far would you go to find a child that never existed?

Elizabeth Walker awakens in a mental institution, the aftermath of a nightmare in her veins. All she can think of is saving a little boy—her son. But the orderlies who rush in and jab her with needles assure her she has no son. So does her mother, who demands her doctors keep her calm and prevent her from these troubling delusions. But Elizabeth’s nightmares are so real, and her arms still feel the memory of holding her son. And her instincts tell her to trust no one. Her child is gone. Her memories are gone. Everything is just…gone.

Ex-military medic David Kerrigan will never stop blaming himself for the childhood tragedy that took his younger sister’s life. Working on assignment at the facility, he’s drawn to Elizabeth, and he’s not sure that everything about her case is on the up and up. David knows full well he can’t change the past, but what if he can save this one person? And maybe helping Elizabeth might just save them both…

I read this author's first offering, Seducing Avery, and loved it. So I decided to try her latest release. I can say I wasn't disappointed. I don't do spoilers, but the heroine's angst over a child everyone assures her doesn't exist is gut wrenching. She keeps you guessing. Is the boy real? Is this woman crazy? Can she trust this man who tries to help? True to life and emotionlly packed. Well done.

Warning! Before you pick up this book make sure you have enough time to read it in one or two sittings, as soon as you start reading it you will not be able to put it down till the very last page.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I was very impressed.
Elizabeth Walker wakes up to find herself in an institution, she has no recollections of how she came to be there or any of her previous life, the only memory she has is of a little boy that appears in her memories, the rest of the time she is drugged up by her doctor.
Her mother maintains a bedside vigil and appears to be there to care for her. Soon things begin to happen and when Elizabeth's doctor goes away the new doctor controls her medication and Elizabeth begins to remember parts of her previous life.
I do not want to spoil any of this story, I will only say that the next turn of events are fast paced and will leave you racing through the book desperate to find out what has happened to Elizabeth previous to her existence in the institution.
This book is thrilling and keeps the reader thoroughly engaged throughout.
I will definitely be looking out for more of this author's work.

A well deserved 5 stars from me.

Barb pens "Gone" in a smooth flowing, heart wrenching plot that will captivate you from the start. Her characters are very well developed, believable and they will keep you guessing until the end. A fantastic read that you will find hard to put down.
