“I looked up to see the next guest approaching the desk for check in.  My heart skipped a beat and I stuttered “Wwwww..Welcome to The Monet, how may I help you?”

Wow. This is insulting to womankind. We aren't dogs. We don't drool. We can see gorgeous men and the creme de la creme on the internet and in day to day life without tripping over ourselves and being rendered incapable of speech. Without having our tongues hanging out of our mouths.

It was a really bad regurgitation/imitation of FSOG and Bared to You (which I love). Remember the way Gideon wanted Eva and asked her if she was sleeping with anyone? Well here we have the poor imitation.

"Are you sleeping with anyone?”  The way he asked the question was so direct but relaxed, he could have been asking for directions.

The question caught me so off guard, I stared up at him in confusion. "Am I sleeping with someone?”

He took one step closer, “Yes, that is the question I asked.  Would you like to know if I am sleeping with anyone before you answer?”

I took one step back and a deep breath. “Why is it any of your business if I am sleeping with anyone Mr. Jenner?”

This had really crap writing. With the obvious trope of a heroine being a prude vs the sexually confident alpha man. He stops whatever fuck-buddy arrangement he has. They are lusty.
He wipes her down intimately afterwards. She wears his big shirt. She has the typical bitchy step mom, shes annoying, she's secretly insecure, etc etc.

But this heroine has no brains. She agrees to literally anything he says. Stay with me? Okay. Kiss me? Okay. Strip for me? Okay Poop on me? Okay. Let me buy you lots of shit because I have money and want to lavish you? Okay but I have good clothes. Let me? Okay, you are the controller of my fate and destiny.

What's worse is that she doesn't google him. In this day and age it isn't f*cking invasive. A smart woman would, but noo, she wants to learn about it from him. Eventually she does...after he temporarily kicks her to the curb. His little sad past is revealed...

“The organization was founded in honor of Kelly Preston, Mr. Jenner’s high school sweetheart.  Ms. Preston disappeared seven years ago, at the age of 15 while walking to a friend’s home.”

He's 32 now. How is this 7 years ago? Unless the article she's reading is old. Because he couldn't have been 25 to a 15 year old girl. Plus it's mentioned he was 15. I didn't appreciate the inconsistencies.

The grammar was atrocious. I'm willing to forgive the author because I've read books of hers before, and this was really, really, really bad.

I liked it and I didn't. I think the romance between Hope and Kennedy was sweet but I felt I didn't get enough time to know them as well as I was hoping to. Her Dad really pissed me off because he couldn't see that his wife was hurting his daughter. I mean he is supposed to be a good judge of character but it didn't show and to me the wife didn't get what she had coming to her. The best friend was brought up so much it annoyed me. I mean Hope went on about how beautiful she was and how men watched her. It felt like I was trying to be sold on how great she was but I just didn't buy it. I also had a problem when her friend would get loud about where they were going to be because some dude was listening. How is that behavior mature and not dangerous or when she said loud about Hope's weekend with Kennedy. What kind of friend is she really. I thought Kennedy was good but I thought it was stupid not to mention his past. It wasn't that big and for him to have therapy and not get the help he needed to get past it. I mean what kind of doctor was this. Hope was ok but I didn't really have a grasp of her. So while it had some good things. The things that bothered me brought down my enjoyment.

This book had literally everything I hate in a romance novel
A heroine with poor self-confidence
Gets wet when talking to the hero
Excessively nervous when talking to the hero
Sad and disappointed when hero doesn't call
He calls her and she runs to him
Extremely low confidence( I know I am repeating it but damn girl believe in yourself)
Her jaw drops 80 times because he is that HOT!!
What was up with the switch in the narrative, it's first person then jumps to third person in the next paragraph, proofread this!!!
It ended abruptly, it was not good at all!

There were things about this book I really liked:
-the premise is irresistible to me.. Damaged rich hot guy, sweet girl beautiful on the inside and not knowing how pretty she is on the inside.. Over done and predictable, I know, but I'm a sucker..
What I didn't like:
-the character development was awful and inconsistent. Who they were presented as and who they were throughout the book were completely different. And I don't mean in a 'growing, and maturing and evolving as a person' kind of way.. Just in an inconsistent disjointed kind of way. It was distracting and annoying.
-I didn't really feel the spark or the driving force of any of the characters (partially because of the lack of depth mentioned earlier). It's hard to get in to those books where you're sort of left questioning what the draw is- why is he so drawn to her? Why is everyone so drawn to her? Why is she so caught up in him? Suddenly her happiness depends on whether he calls her etc.. And it's kind of pathetic and immature. Over all I enjoyed it as a quick easy read, but if you like a story that you get caught up in, and really FEEL the characters and connections etc, then this might not be for you.

I was excited to start this one. It sounded very Fifty Shades of Grey to me and the whole idea of ‘Sex, secrets and dominance, with a little love story in between’ was one I couldn’t resist.

Let’s start with a bit of a synopsis. Hope has not always been considered pretty. She loses some pounds, styles up and moves from her small town to start a new job at one of the plushiest Hotels in New York. On her first day of training she meets Kennedy Jenner. (I’ve actually never considered the name Kennedy sexy but this one changed my mind ;) ) Anyway, it’s lust at first sight and so it begins.

Some conversations felt stilted to me and there were some grammatical errors. Also the scenes told in Hope’s POV made me feel like I was reading somebody’s journal. I didn’t “live” it with her which is what normally happens when I read 1st person POVs.

That aside the steamy scenes were exactly that, steamy! Kennedy is Alpha, controlling, possessive, sweet…so yes, I liked him. Hope is very insecure and usually I prefer strong heroines but I understood her insecurity and it didn’t put me off as it normally would. In fact that’s why Kennedy felt drawn to her, gorgeous but sweet, almost innocently so.

There’s nothing surprisingly new about the storyline; tortured hero + tortured heroine = great sex. :) That being said, I liked the book. The ending was so beautiful! I was surprised there was no cliffhanger which probably means this is a stand alone. Surprising isn’t it? I’m getting used to Erotic Romance coming in trilogies.

I’ll end by saying this, if you like erotic romance with billionaires who meet girl next door types and fall totally and hopelessly in love while having steamy steamy sex in the process then you should give this one a go.

3 stars.

Well about the book the book is great and has a different plot than the vi keelands usual .Well a little disappointed that all my chocolates melted as there was no vi keeland mid read #mademecry
#why does this always happen in vi keelands books only plot .
This is a very smooth story with two most loving characters that a reader may never forget because they are all shorted and clean .Hope is a very caring person Kennedy Jenner is also caring but is a little reserved in the whole story.Kennedy NEVER acts like a wild alpha always always drooling over the heroine that acted like a life saver after reading 5 books with drooling heroes.

Best part was that the heroine did not drool over the hero.

THIS IS A 5 STAR CHOCOLATE MELTING STORY

This book is Fifty Shades of Grey meets Cinderella. Please, don’t misunderstand me. This isn’t just an x-rated fairy tale and Kennedy Jenner is no Prince Charming. Hope York moves from Chicago to New York to not only distance herself from her mean as a junk yard dog Step-Mother Candace, but to essentially change who she is. Years of verbal abuse at the hands of Candace has convinced Hope that she is ugly and worthless so she decides to transform herself both inside and out. On her very first day as an Event Planner at a 5 star hotel, she meets Kennedy, millionaire playboy and is swept away by his charm and looks. Kennedy on the other hand has never met anyone like Hope before and he makes it his life mission to get to know Hope better. Not used to getting his way, it just adds to his desire for her. This cat and mouse game does not go on for too long which actually surprised me, I thought the dance would be longer. As the two learn about each other, we slowly learn about each’s back story and peel back the layers to see just how messed up these two individuals truly are.
I seriously enjoyed the hell out of this story. I didn’t realize that sometimes you just don’t want to wait till the end of the book before a couple gets together. At times I felt that Hope was a bit tstl and Kennedy was an overbearing bossy fuck but those times were few and far between and didn’t piss me off enough for me to want to stop reading. There was just enough sex to make this an erotic book but not so much that made me feel like I was reading a porno. I don’t understand why it seems that every other male lead out there is a multi million dollar playboy who was just waiting for the right girl to make him want to stop sticking it in everything that moved and settle down but it worked for this story. I give it 4.5 feathers and would like to see this author perhaps write a follow up story with Shauna and Garret.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Hope has recently moved to New York and started her dream job as an event planner at a five start hotel. On her first day of training she meets Kennedy Jenner, a wealthy business man who is staying at the hotel. They start an intense relationship complicated by her insecurities, his past demons and the thousand miles in between Chicago and New York. I was a little bit annoyed at the female main character when the book first started; she seemed weak and self conscious. It took me awhile to warm up to Hope and once I got the background story I respected her a lot more. Kennedy was a rich, gorgeous man with a damaged past and an overprotective streak that made me want to slap him at times. The problems that the two of them had were realistic and not over the top. The cheerleader best friend was a good influence on Hope with her encouragement and understanding. Hopes dad was endearing and I felt bad for him because the step-mom was a raging bitch with a side helping of slut. The Jenner family was supportive of Kennedy and his niece was beyond adorable. The love scenes were scorching hot and I really liked that their whole relationship was not based on sex. The couple seemed to share a genuine connection that kept them together when other people would have given up. I liked the book, but I really wish it had an epilogue.

Perfectly written and best book boyfriend (of the month). Seriously simple plot, wicked step mother and her two daughters, and Hope ,who reinvents from plain to gorgeous meets "Prince charming", Kennedy Jenner. Simple plot or not, this book is modern day with careers and big city life and well developed and paced. The only time I would of slapped Hope was when she was totally irrational seeing Mikayla coming out of Kennedy's office building. Silly Hope!

Very easy and short book. Hope transformed herself to be this sophisticated person and moved out of Oregon to the Big Apple and meets Kennedy, a handsome, wealthy gentleman, who sweeps her off her feet.

A great read, little drama and little angst. Made a relaxing read for a Sunday after finishing a few intense reads. My first experience with Vi Keeland was with Belong To You by Vi Keeland , and I loved it. First Thing I See was no different. I fell into the ease of the story quickly.

Hope York has left her home in Oregon for New York. Leaving behind an image of herself that had very little self-confidence due to harsh words from her step-mother, she is starting over in a new place where she can be the woman she wants to be. After getting hired at The Monet, a five-star hotel as the event planner she is learning the ropes. She is not prepared with she comes face to face with a man that has her knees weak the minute she spots blue eyes and dimples. One encounter may just change her entire life.

But even as Hope strives to be the version of herself that everyone else sees, she still has some struggles to beat that voice out of her head that she is not good enough. She is the girl who everyone notices, but the girl who barely notices herself.

Kennedy Jenner is a successful business man. One look at Hope and he knows he must have her. Even if it is one time get her out of his thoughts. But he is consumed by her and slowly he starts alter his lifestyle - giving into a relationship with a woman, rather than just an arrangement. Kennedy seems perfect; rich, kind, sweet, sexy, protective and hot. But his past is something that has made him distant. A need to protect Hope - a need that she doesn't understand at first. A painful event that causes a man to hold himself guilty for, a incident that a boy could not prevent or control.

This was a very sweet romantic story of two lives that intersect and connect. It was a safe read for me, but it is the story that we all love. These are still my guilty pleasure reads. I am glad that I was pointed into Vi's direction and will no doubt enjoy her future books - especially if she keeps delivering hot blue eyed guys with dimples.

A perfect blend of romance, sex and reality, this book was beautiful, sweet, and real. Hope lands her dream job in a plush New York hotel. It’s here, on her first day, that she runs in to Kennedy, a wealthy man who knows exactly what he wants. When they meet, there’s an instant attraction that can be felt as you read the words on the page, and their whirlwind romance begins.

The characters that the author created for this story shared a chemistry that felt real. Hope was insecure, sweet and ambitious, and those insecurities made it really easy for me to relate to her feelings. Kennedy is the epitome of an Alpha male. Strong, sexy, dominant, and with a “broken” past, he has poured so much of himself into his work, creating situations where he sees something he wants and he takes it. When the two of them meet, their worlds are turned upside down and an intense relationship develops between the two of them. Their moments of intimacy are erotic and tastefully written; making their relationship all the more beautiful, and their romance, while flawed like most, is just perfect.

If you’re looking for a Fifty Shades type of dominance (minus the childish drama), you’ll thoroughly enjoy First Thing I See.

I so loved Mr Kennedy Jenner; His sexy seduction lines for Hope made me weak. Good sexy story with angst and buckets of seduction. Mr Jenner, Come and get me!!! More books like this please Vi. One of my favourite quotes from Kennedy to Hope when she called him Mr Jenner "although I like the thought of you calling me Mr Jenner when you are underneath me in the bedroom, I think Kennedy is more appropriate at the moment, don,t you?"

Lack of chemistry between the characters, their communication appeared basic & the sex scenes were very tepid!

Lo que más me gustó, sinceramente fue Hope, me pareció bastante real, con todo y sus inseguridades y su lucha por tratar de superarlas.

It was fast read. Fast emotion. I love fast, but I thing it's too fast for me. The changing emotion just like lightning. Up and up and gone. Nada. Nothing.

At first I love it 'till the end, but unfortunately, 'the end' of this book come too soon. Yes.

The book constantly telling us how the heroine transformed from the boring small girl into a flawless beauty, but I don't see it. For me, the girl, from the very beginning was the same. The was no "transformation" at all especially the way she talked.

And, how the hell she became 'this weak' in the middle of the scenes like someone pull out her plug and all her spirit of freedom and cheerfulness was gone. Gone with the wind.

This book, basically was too fast. Un-detailed for the roller coaster of emotion. Weak if I may say and the problems seems to go away like it was nothing. Like an rock ice in the middle of desert. Puff!

I have had this book on my Nook for EVER and I am kicking myself for not reading it sooner. I loved this story, I loved the back and forth, I love that love wasn't easy but it was true. I love the rawness that was written, and written in such an effortless way. It will be one of my comfort reads for years to come.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS REVIEW CONTAINS A LOT OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS!

Oh my.This book started soooooo bad that I seriously considered to not continue reading. The writing is inconsistent and confusing throughout the whole book, sporadically switching from first persons view (Hope) to third persons view(everyone who is not Hope).

My biggest problem was the introduction of characters and beginning of their love story. The way Hope acted, when first time she met Kennedy, was insulting to every female.Stuttering, blabering mess, instantly aroused like a bitch in heat and not being able to control her actions or even have one normal thought . It was humiliating to even read her reaction. It continued the parade of humiliation few pages later when she followed him from bar to the ice-cream shop, allowing him to dominate her publicly, and that was the second time they even met or had few sentences with each other. The ice cream scene was just as bad, including kiss and her licking and his offer(some 50 shades vibes-one thing in exchange for any material need she may have). And what was up with that painting and his ordering her what to do?

The sentence "I did as I was told" was constant throughout the book and not in the bedroom but in everyday situations. It was disturbing to me.Kennedy obviously have some serious controlling issues that was presented as a desirable trait in a man,to top it,he is also jealous to the extreme.None of those issues could be explained with his guilt over Kellys disappearance and abduction when he was 15

The climax of the book never happened. The whole book built up towards it to only let a reader down.I am normally more than fine without huge dark secrets in romances as it let's you to connect with characters more as usually small problems are more relatable to.But then, don't build up a tension for it if it's not there.

The breakup in story was just pathetic and lame.It was only there as precondition for the Hopes accident and eventual make up.

Proposal scene sounded very mutch like a rub in the face for Candice instead of love inspired wish

As for sex scenes. They weren't too explicit while still graphic, but I appreciated a man who don't need to be aggressive or dirty to the extreme, but could Hope at least participate in the sex aside from climaxing constantly? There are plenty of descriptions of what Kennedy does but nearly none of what Hope does if she is not ordered to hold on to something. As there were no descriptions of her ever touching him,I had to assume she was a starfish - log to be fingered, licked or fucked and just watching the poor man do everything himself. Alone.

I can't recommend this book even as a mindless bedtime read,it is too frustrating to be a relaxing read.

This book was ok for me. I've read books by this author that I've really enjoyed, but this one just fell flat. First of all, we only read of two physical encounters between Kennedy and Hope before they have sex. The author says that they have been texting and calling each other every day, but there is no written dialogue to give us a sense of their attraction to each other. Therefore, I could not really feel their chemistry for each other. A few times, I felt like there was an error of which name they would place (purely editing). There was no closure about Mikayla, which was odd because she showed up everywhere. There was no closure with Candace (I would have loved to have read a crazy confrontation or cat fight involving her). And the end of the book came to an abrupt stop. So it was kind of weird and took me a moment to realize that was it. There were some really nicely written parts but overall, the book itself needed to have a little bit more depth and closure.

I feel like I entered an alternate universe

Is this the same VK that penned Egomaniac, among others? She's one of my fave authors, but this? I didn't like the male, the female or their families/friends. The dialogue was stiff & disconnected, & the characters didn't seem to like each other very much. Kennedy was a jealous, possessive asshole, & Hope was a wuss. Hated this book. I was tempted to delete it at the beginning of Ch.3 without reading the rest. Vi, I recommend you send this to the landfill where it won't piss off your fans.

Yep I really liked this book. Kennedy was a great alpha male, not overly dominant but enough to be forceful enough and get what he wants. Hope's character was written well. The book was written well that you could easily understand why they were both like they were because of their own pasts. A dislikable step mum, a loving Dad and a sex mad best friend lol. A whole cast of colourful characters. A good mix of romance, trauma, sex and slight tension.
