Beside Myself is an authentic, revealing memoir about alcohol, substance and emotional abuse, sexual molestation, sociopathology, narcissism, and suicide. It’s a true story of the survival of a woman who endured it all and is recovering from the experience. It’s a compelling narrative that addresses a deeply difficult and personal topic.
Pamela Fender originally wrote her memoir with the intention of telling her truth. In the process, she discovered that it also applied to those who come from average, healthy homes who wanted a better understanding about the difficulties of those who weren’t so lucky. Others, who have suffered similar family situations, find comfort knowing they are not alone. Her hope is to offer inspiration and to help them realize and discover there is light at the end of the tunnel for healthy relationships.

Oh I love this book! Gutty, bold, writing. It's a story that so many of us can relate to, but never talk about. Keeping family secrets is such a common thread with families of addiction and Pamela has opened her dark story to help so many. Dramatic, well written, bold, and held my attention until the last page. Bravo!
I am trying to let go of the bitterness and resentment that has consumed me since a family betrayal that has split my family apart. Reading this reminded me to keep pushing toward a better life and to stop looking back.
