Harishankar Parsai (हरिशंकर परसाई) was one of the greatest hindi satire writer. Despite holding a MA degree in English, he never wrote in this language. Started his career as a teacher, he later quit it to become a full time writer and started a literature magazine "Vasudha"(it was later closed because of financial difficulties).
He was famous for his blunt and pinching style of writing which included allegorical as well as realist approach. He was funny enough to make you laugh but serious enough to prick your conscience. There would be hardly any dimension of life left which has not appeared in his satires. He received Sahitya Academy Award(biggest literature award in India) for his book "Viklaang Sraddha ka Daur". He has penned down some novels also.
I can visualise what is written in this book as I have seen people still behaving like that and this act as laughter dose. Content is written on 1970's and 80's conditions but it still feels related whether it's political condition or behaviour of average Indian.

A hilarious account of the problems, unfortunately persistent even in present times. There are only a few who can be so adept in showing constructive sarcasm and Harishankar Parasai is one of them.
this book is mirror to Me,You and our society. author Shri Hari Shankar Parsai Ji have potrayed the thought of the middle class families of India then, addressed their status, and also focused on the political condition of the country by then. He have used his satire to point out the flaws in our government and the society. must read book.
Incisive and insightful satire of the Indian society on issues of caste and gender oppression, political corruption, middle-class complacency, the revolutionary posturing along with the never-ending innovations by godmen to fool the masses.
