I was born in the beautiful county of Cornwall in southwestern England and grew up in a small village there. I return frequently to visit family and friends but especially to savor the cool rainy weather and hot tea. After school I joined the Royal Navy and served for nearly six years. I held varying jobs from being the only woman in the staff of a sports center to arranging social engagements for the Captain of the base. My last assignment was to Denmark where I thought I would spend a wild two years in Copenhagen only to discover I was being sent to a NATO Headquarters in a quiet town on the Jutland Peninsula. I was only disappointed for a while as I met my own tall, dark, handsome stranger there - a US Naval Officer named Richard who became my husband.

That was the beginning of an itinerant life as from Denmark we went to Sicily where we had our first son. Then it was on to Monterey, California and the birth of our second son. From there we headed to Patuxent River, Maryland where we had our third son. Richard's last assignment was to London where we spent a wonderful three years. Retiring from the Navy he took a job in Brentwood, Tennessee near where he grew up. Now he's retired for the 2nd time and I'm still writing!

I have always been a voracious reader, even at 5 years old my school reports show a keen interest in English and very little in math - some things never change! Although I enjoyed writing in school it wasn't until 2001 that I was tempted to take a creative writing class at a local recreation center which has sparked my new career.

I hope you enjoy reading my work as much as I enjoy writing it so sit back, make yourself a cup of tea and enjoy a break from everyday life.

This is the first book by this author which I have read and I wasn't disappointed.I was attracted by the cover first of all and the blurb - "Anonymous letters and phone calls are only the start of Fiona Marshall's troubles." I was with the feisty heroine from the start and became further engaged when the story moved from the US to deepest England (she has to escape a vengeful business man she'd exposed). Then Blake enters the picture, recovering from a messy divorce and a bad case of (song) writer's block. Romance is the last thing on either of their minds, but love has other ideas. Good writing, convincing characters and a plot that keep me turning the pages.

Britnell pens a suspenseful contemporary romance with "Hidden Truths." When British author Fiona Marshall meets country singer, Blake Mayer, the sparks fly, but both have complicated issues to face if they're going to move forward with their lives.

As the story opens, Fiona seeks a place to get in touch with her roots and joins her brother and his family in Cornwall, England. The subject of her book, Nathan Rylant, sends his enforcer threatening her so she will pull her book. Fiona meets Blake when he steps into her brother's vicarage trying to escape a rainstorm. The pair hit it off, but Fiona is reluctant to discuss her problems with Blake. He's also reluctant to talk about himself. He's seeking to "discover" his music again after a rough year and divorce. As the threats increase. Fiona and Blake realize they have to face hidden truths in order to move forward with their lives, but will they come together as a couple or be forced to part?

Britnell's writing style is easy to read. Her international settings will take you on a great adventure along with the characters. The plot flows well. Blake is a true hero, noble, honest, and willing to take action. Fiona's not lacking in determination or inner strength, but her doubts about "the system" fuel some of her more questionable decisions. The supporting cast comes across as 'real' and 'honest' and will warm the reader's heart.

The novel is sophisticated for romance readers and the love scenes are mainstream and capture the sensuality of the couple. Overall, "Hidden Truths" will take you on a journey full of intrigue, suspense and love. I highly recommend this book.
