Delicate; or, The Devil Works in Mysterious Ways The Chimera Trilogy: Book One A Novelette by C.K. Farrell
Following the critical and commercial success of his first book has been no easy feat for Irish writer, Aidan O’Shea. Having just finished his second novel, and in his view, his magnum opus, he now must hear the thoughts and opinions of his work from his editor, friend, patron, and lover, Chantal Bélanger, before he can release it upon the world. Will the words that leak from the feminine pout of the stunningly prepossessing woman possibly be encumbered words of elation, or words of absolute desolation? Either way, Aidan needs to know what she truly thinks, even if it means rocking the boat of their May-December relationship that is, at its core, nothing more than days and nights filled with wild sex and whiskey.
WARNING: This book is for a mature audience. It contains sexual language and graphic situations.
I have to say that I was a short story virgin before this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it though. I just might give some other short stories a chance now :) It was a really good story but I will warn you(if you didn't already know by the cover) this is definitely an ADULT book! There were some shocking moments too, at least to me ;) If you are looking for a short story to read I would recommend this!
I loved this short story! Reminiscent of some very underrated authors from the past. Of course I'm left wanting more again. This story had some major twists that I didn't see coming at all! It was haunting and won't easily leave my mind. I can't wait for more from C.K. Farrell! I'm ruined for other authors. :)
There were things I appreciated--the over forty, voluptuous sex vixen, the preference for pubes over prepubescent baldness, and such--but I thought the story self-indulgent in its word choice (coincidentally one of the same criticisms the writer in the story receives) and I never really found anything to like in the story itself.
shocking!... I liked it, wanted more. Forgot it was a short story and got pissed when it was over. It has potential, in fact can imagine a novel or potential series with interconnected characters affecting the other in some crappy or awesome way. Damn some freaky scenes lol! love it!
Sick, dark, twisted - and I like it! Exactly what a short story should be. It reminds me of a classic story, like Edgar Allan Poe, or someone along those lines.
