The Twenty-Eight Days Of Oscar Hexagon is a short story first person diary account of Oscar that starts on the day when the news announces that the end of the world will definitely happen in twenty-eight days time.
The short story combines a mixture of the following: black humour, sadness, David Cameron, ghosts, regrets, a deranged snowman enthusiast, David Dimbleby, snow, fog, sepia, unexplained parties, strange red creatures, family, relationships and loneliness.
The short story is split into twenty-eight tiny parts, with each part representing what happens to Oscar on each day.
My son's friend wrote this and I loved it. We follow Oscar as he lives out the last 28 days of the world in a northern town in England. It is melancholic yet humorous. The ending is so poignant but totally undramatic. A surprisingly good read. Typically English! Well done, Matt!
