All that stands between her and financial freedom is one…lap dance.
Equally worried that her brother would be lured into one of London’s notorious gangs and for her sisters’ safety while she works evenings at a supermarket, Chantelle Payne takes a job as an exotic dancer at an exclusive men’s club until she completes her degree. Her only rule: no lap dances.
Billionaire property developer Dominic O’Brien visits the club to conclude a business deal and is captivated by Chantelle’s sexy dance moves. He offers an obscene amount of money for a private lap dance and the chance to get closer to the stunning young woman.
Chantelle notices the sexy tycoon while on stage and feels the sparks that fly between them. When he offers an amount large enough to take care of her financial problems and enable her to immediately quit the job, she breaks her rule.
Totally inflamed by the lap dance, Dominic offers a matching amount for Chantelle to sleep with him. Infuriated, she flees from him and the club. He pursues her but loses her in the ensuing car chase. Not one to give up easily, when he discovers that the club owner doesn’t know Chantelle’s real identity, he hires several of the country’s best private investigators to track her down. But she’s disappeared without a trace.
She haunts his days and nights for the next five months. And just when he’s given up hope of ever finding her, she walks unexpectedly back into his life.
I'm a British writer who has always been fascinated by the concept of true love transcending the boundaries of race and colour. I like to touch on some of the issues each couple faces on their journey to their HEA in a fairly light-handed way that provokes thought but hopefully doesn't detract from readers' enjoyment - after all, most are looking for romantic escape, not political debate.
My stories are set in London and have a British flavour, but as the vast majority of my readers so far have been American, I've tried to accommodate them by using American English in my books where possible. The British also read a lot of American literature and have become accustomed to both spellings.
This was a short quick read that I liked. Chantelle Payne takes a job as an exotic dancer at an exclusive men’s club until she completes her degree. Her only rule no lap dances until she gets an offer she can't refuse. Billionaire property developer Dominic O’Brien visits the club to conclude a business deal and is captivated by Chantelle’s sexy dance moves. Chantelle is a young woman who is juggling her last semester before graduating college and raising her three siblings because her alcoholic mother isn't able. After she gets the money from him she quits dancing and Dominic can't find her even when he hires someone to find her. When he runs into her he knows it's his chance. These two had some hot chemistry. This was a pretty good read this was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Dominic and Chantelle....Their first story was hot like fire, there was a lot going on this first book. I think the author could have went really made this one longer because clearly I needed more elaboration.
Chantelle is really something special, having to raise her 3 younger siblings after her mom's husband leaves (them for another man) the mom has a total breakdown. It was so tough to read she had to forgo normal teenage years and be a grown up because their mother became an alcoholic and not a functioning one either. So for Chantelle her striving was to make a better life for a siblings, that is what I loved about this story the sacrifice made by this young lady to be better so her siblings wouldn't struggle.
Enters Dominic, he makes me chuckle and then grit my teeth lol!!! He is definitely a take charge man but extremely caring and you can tell from his upbringing that he came from love. But Lawd that man don't take no for an answer and he wants what he wants (I wonder if it has anything to do with him being the youngest and a miracle baby as his mom calls him)
He meets his match with Chantelle because she is just as head strong and smart as he is. I love the fact that she is a professional architect and determined to make her mark on the architectural world. Working for this instance but lovable man will prove very challenging for them both. So now I am off to read Book 2.
Okay 3 stars for the story. I was interested by the story but the writting just ddnt do it for me. The characters felt shallow. Even though they had a good back story but it just fell flat. I wanted a story that will have me hooked but each character was just there no depth. I wish this story had better writing it would have been epic.
Oh yes I enjoyed this book, great storytelling . The author kept it real, with educated women. It was refreshing that the location was the UK I recommend you will enjoy. Looking forward to reading more of this author's work.
2 1/2 stars. I really started off liking this book. Chantelle is a hard-working, driven young woman who never has time for herself because she's so busy taking care of her own family. Dominic is a sexy billionaire known for his bevy of gorgeous women, but something about Chantelle lures him in. When Chantelle gets a job at his company, they quickly begin their relationship, which felt a little rushed to me. Chantelle seemed like too much of a martyr to me and she had the "I've never dated a white guy syndrome". For those of you who don't know what that is, it's when a black woman can't seem to get past the fact that she's attracted to a white man and will sabotage her relationship because she's too dumb to know a good thing when it's right in front of her. She constantly tried to find reasons why they couldn't be together and thank God for Dominic because he refused to let her make excuses. I also felt Dominic's character needed a little work. The only time I got to know anything about him, was when his mother basically told Chantelle their family history over a meal. There was a lot of info. dumping there. The ending was definitely rushed. I couldn't believe it was the end. I immediately searched to see if this was a series, because it ended so abruptly, but unfortunately it is a stand alone book. That's too bad because this story needed more growth and another book could have helped.
This book starts off really interesting. Chantelle Payne is smart, interesting, and is doing what she needs to to help her family. Dominic O'Brien is rich, domineering, and has fetishes. I gave this book two stars due to the dragging of the storyline along with the conflicting depth of the characters. Not many women would put up with some of Dominic's tests and control issues. For a woman who was so strong for her family, she caved every time to Dominic. There would be conflict there. The storyline with her father was almost laughable and not needed. The smut parts were great. I read book one and two of this series.
Just okay. Another Amazon freebie. I liked the storyline but it just didn't grab and hold my attention and some parts of it were just downright boring, cliche and unbelievable. The characters are painfully predictable and unmemorable as is the story. Nothing new here just a Pretty Woman wanna be. The book is poorly edited and written.
