His wife, Viv, had died in a car accident, with her current lover, on the way to meet with the divorce attorney’s six years ago. Michael was divorcing her because he’d discovered she’d had a stream of lovers during the course of their marriage. Since her death he’s had no wish to get involved with anyone, until Lily.

David, her boyfriend, has been acting strange for about five months which has caused Lily to re-evaluate her relationship with him and it comes up short, a lot. Michael and Lily finally start their relationship, which involves a lot of hot loving and scarves which Lily uses on Michael! This book was just alright for me. It was mainly sex with little story. I actually am shocked that I didn't ditch it because typically I want more from a book. I think the only thing that kept me reading was my little crush on Michael. He was great. I found myself skimming a lot of sex scenes. It was a hot little read but very much repetitive. Read at your own risk.

This is the story of Michael & Lily.

Lily is stuck in a loveless, passionless relationship that’s now become a barren orgasm-free wasteland. The relationship has definitely ran its course and is now circling the drain.

Michael, CEO of McKenzie Holdings, is a widower whose philandering wife had died in a car accident en route to the divorce lawyer with her latest squeeze. Michael has been burned by her lies and infidelity and now chooses to be alone, not prepared to give relationships a chance anymore.

All that is about to change as Lily starts her new job working as Michael’s assistant. They meet as they ride the elevator together on Lily’s first day and they share an instant magnetic connection – it’s almost as if they’ve been hit by a bolt of lightning. The struggle to keep their desire under control and remain professional, after all, Lily is not yet single but this proves nigh on impossible.

What I liked…………..

There’s great world building going on here – Michael is one of five brothers (all of them will star in a McKenzie Brothers book of their own in the future). I came to really like them as well as Michael’s parents and his adorable driver, George.

There’s a lot lotta lovin’ goin’ on. This really is Erotic fiction with a big ole capital E as we have scene after scene of passionate sex between Lily & Michael.

It would have been easy to turn David, Lily’s ex, into a stereotypical bad guy and have him lash out and hurt Lily but Lexi Buchanan keeps him true to character – he’s a imbecile and a cheat and he doesn’t deserve her but he’s no worse than that.

I loved both Michael & Lily’s characters and very much enjoyed their love story.

What I didn’t like…………

Instalove – Michael & Lily are pretty much instantly in love with one another. I think I would have rather seen that incredible physical attraction they shared slowly grow into something deeper over the course of the story. I think this could have allowed the sexual chemistry to build to fever pitch.

Whilst I did really enjoy the alternating POV, each chapter is told from either Lily or Michael’s perspective and I found Lily completely believable but Michael came over a little too sentimentally romantic and ultimately I felt it was the author’s voice I was hearing and not Michaels.

BUT, it’s a great start to what promises to be a sexy new series.

The book had a weird pace.
The dialogues are meh and seem fake and the delivery is very blunt.

Why would you be jealous of your own brothers? Who are sweet and normal and not the manipulating kind!? Like hell, Michael got jealous of them even when they laughed with Lily or when they playfully flirted with her to get a rise of off him. :S THAT WAS JUST STUPID.

Why would you look at someone's scarred face and be like "I'm not scared of you?" Like thats so fucking bizarre.

She felt nothing when she left David. EMOTIONLESS. No drama, no nothing. All this crap doesn't work for me.

I didn't like this book. I expected a lot more. It was merely lived upto 5% of my expectations.
The blurb literally gives 75% of whole story away..

3.5 stars!

I discovered this book a month ago and instantly wanted to read it because of a little something in the blurb:

"Michael and Lily finally start their relationship, which involves a lot of hot loving and scarves which Lily uses on Michael!"

I'm sure you understand my desire to read this now. So this is a story about a CEO and his new secretary.

description

Not knowing that she'll actually be Michael's secretary, they meet in the elevator and a connection occurs. They are instantly drawn to each other, exchanging heated looks of desire and it was kinda hot. Maybe it's a little cliche already, but I always found the boss/secretary relationship interesting because at first it feels like a forbidden fruit to be lusting after your boss/secretary.

But the little problem is, it's insta-love. Many readers came to dislike this and I myself. We, readers, do want a "perfect" romace and hot scenes and everything but it has to be realistic. Insta-love is for paranormal and their mates and stuff. Love at first sight is a sensitive, touching matter and not romantic for readers anymore. But I was prepared to look over it, because the start was more complicated and very promising. There's a problem: Lily already has a boyfriend.

But the good thing was that lately, it became a passionless relationship and we find out the guy was actually cheating on her. But Lily was still resisting Michael, being moral and honorable and not becoming a cheater too. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to see all the pent-up tension to explode when they finally have sex. And everything worked.

Then comes the good ol' office sex. Yum!:P

description

... Until about a half of the book when it was all reduced to sex, sex, sex, adventurous sex, spontaneous sex, crying, sex, more sex, Michale being possessive - even toward his own brothers, crying fantasy sex, and just SEX! What the hell?! I mean, it was damn hot, actually one of the hottest I've read, but you know it all started to go to hell when you become bored reading about him f*cking her on the conference table in the office.

There was little real dialogue and almost no story, not even much drama. It was sort of frustrating and it was all a little too perfect and absolutely unrealistic. Sadly, I was very disappointed that a book with such potential was so easily ruined.

About the characters - Michael was the hot CEO who loves his privacy, but meeting Lily makes him a big over-possessive, horny guy. I kinda liked him because he was a kind man and very considerate. But he says "Fuck!" a lot during the sex scenes. Man, can you be more creative with the dirty language? Lily had more naughtiness in her. I loved the scarves scene, but it only happened once :(

Lily... Well, I acutally don't remember much about her. The problem is that all the characters were just so simple, with only their passion sticking out in the book. There's nothing more interesting about them. Lily is just the typical good girl with a dirty mind.

I will read the next books with hope that it will get better, because I'm intrigued with the scared brother Lucien. All the brothers are interesting. I wonder if any of them will make an M/M book? Hmm, crossing my fingers!

5 stars for the beginning, but a low 2 stars for the second part of the book - so 3.5 stars overall.
Good luck to Lexi Buchanan because she has skills, her writing is very good, but it' nothing if you don't use it to make a great story.

**Minor Spoilers** but nothing that will ruin the story or give anything away.

OK so this had promise. The blurb had me hooked and I was really into it in the beginning. Then it just lost me. I love a good office romance but that's not what this was. This was insta-love at it's finest but with a love story that wasn't believable because all they did the entire book was have sex. And cry. She cried or teared up in practically every chapter. All sixty-something of them. Then HE started crying all the time. Crying and sex. Over and over. The only conversations they had were about how jealous he was. Of his own brothers! They went out on one date and she even tried to rub him down under the table! There was just not enough substance. I love a good erotica but this wasn't that and if I had to read about his "cream" or "bulbous head" *gag* one more time... I don't know what happened. It really started out good but quickly turned into a train wreck. I felt like I was reading two different reading styles. The author does a good job of setting up the rest of the books in the series because all the brothers are interesting and hot as hell, but I don't think I can go there.

Hi we just met but-

 photo 747958_zps9860c065.gif

I am a total sucker for office romances....and this was one hell of a romance.

The is told in both points of view- Our heroine Lily and our hero Michael.

Lily has been made redundant from her job (All her fault according to her muppet boyfriend David) so she manages to snap up a good position working as Michael McKenzie's assistant.

She was employed thinking she was going to be the assistant to an old guy, but its been kept from her that she is going to assist the man at the top.

Its a coveted role...Michael is one of the McKenzie brothers.....top CEO of his company.

Day one on the job- Hot guy in the elevator with Lily....well you have to flirt a little don't ya...he's hot, its a big building, she probably wont see much of him again.....WRONG!!

He's her boss!! And its an attraction they cant seem to deny.

After this initial meeting things appear to go from 0-100 mph within the space of 10 pages.

I'll admit this is where I struggled with the book a little.

I get that there was this amazing attraction between the 2 of them, but what I didn't get was the insta-love. I like insta love if its done right, but these two didn't really seem to know very much about each other and they were pretty much having internal conversations in their heads about what they felt for the other. I get insta-love but this was pretty much insta-love on amphetamines!!

Within a day Lily was thinking of ways to leave her boyfriend of 7 years to be with Michael.

I get that her fella was a tool and didn't deserve her. He was a cheating scumbag, but at the point of planning to leave him she had no idea that he was a cheating scumbag....

Even though I felt that way about the love part, I did like the characters.

Michael was very damaged- his ex had cheated on him repeatedly and therefore he had no trust what so ever for anyone.

And there was a lot of sex.....once these two got going there was no stopping them!

But this was where I struggled a little bit with Lily....she was pretty timid, only having ever had one lover in David and she states- ''I don't have sex with David, he has it with me'' but then she's a little vixen in the bedroom. She goes from missionary once a week to knowing all these moves...it was just a little hard to believe.

But for me these 2 were left in the background compared to Michael's brothers- They totally showed them both up with big personalities and cracking back story lines, which appear to be the following books.

Sebastian- He was so funny with his flirting, trying to wind Michael up constantly. He appears to be the wild McKenzie, always in the papers, picking up girls left right and centre and never calling them back. Book 2 seems to be about Sebastian and another brother Ramon (Who you actually didn't see too much of,but he appears a bit of a dark horse)

Lucian- Damaged scarred Lucian- I am dying to know more about this complex man. And all goodreads says about book 3 is coming soon. So I hope its about him.

Overall not a bad book but it was saved by supporting characters.

3.5 Stars. Michael and Lily were perfect for each other. I will probably read the next books in this series when they are released. Honestly though the reason I only rated it 3.5 stars was because the sex scenes, while a few were hot, most of them were quite repetitive. I also was driven crazy by Michael's lack of trust where Lily was concerned through the whole book (until the last 10%) just because of his ex-wifes actions 7+ years ago. I've definitely read steamier novels and overall was kind of disappointed in this book. The only reason I may consider reading other books in this series would be to see how the story will continue for Michael's brothers as well as Michael and Lily.

WOW this is one HOT, SEXY read and I loved it. This novel is right up my street sexy guys and lots and lots of hot sex.

Have a cold shower on standby cause that will be needed a lot ;)

I loved all the McKenzie brothers and this novel is about Michael (who I also loved ) but Lucien is the man for me and can't wait to read his story.
I didn't want this book to end and would've been great to start the next one right after even tho this one doesn't have a cliffhanger.

It is out on the 10th April and is a must for all you 50 shades fans.

I had the privilege of being a beta reader for this amazingly hot book.

Wow, I may just write that I was neglecting everyone and everything around me to get to the end of the story. It's not often you get the perfect combination of crazy HOT and great romance.

SEDUCE is the first book in the McKenzie brothers series and I think Lexi Buchanan has another hit on her hands.

There are numerous scenes that made my palm sweat and heart beat too fast.

Michael is CEO of McKenzie Holdings. He is handsome, successful and the ultimate catch. He is attracted instantly to Lily but the scars from his past haunt him and he is helpless to stop them.

Lily is a strong impregnable character who wants to make it on her own in the world. After dealing with the loss of her parents and having problems with current boyfriend, she gets enamored with Michael immediately. The deep intensity that connects them is hard to fight and Lily gives up and surrenders.

This story is rich in drama, a lot of emotion and intensely passionate love scenes.
Each one of the McKenzie brothers is so uniquely interesting that I cannot wait to read more about them!
Quick, cute and easy read. I promise you will devour every page of this book.

I have to say that I was really intrigued by this book because I liked the cover and I love a good office loving book ;). I liked the whole struggle between the characters with wanting to be together but having to face other obstacles. My favorite thing about this book is when the guy chases the girl and isn't afraid of commitment. There is nothing sexier then a guy who knows what he wants :).

Now to comment on the NOT so good parts :
1. I felt like the book moved way to fast by switching characters and Michael's struggle through out the book was not really talked about until the end and it made you feel like the author just wanted to add a conflict , just because and it really didn't mesh well.
2. The situation between David and Lily was really annoying and weird there whole relationship didn't make any sense and only further confused the reader.

I have to say that the book wasn't horrible but it also wasn't the best either. There were parts that I enjoyed like all the hot brothers and of course the sex parts but I defiantly think it could have been written better with more detail and plot.

I became a fan of Lexi Buchanan when I first read “Home for the Holidays” the love story of Jackson and Sofia. “Seduce” is a lot sexier and steamy. This book is so hot- it will make you tingle with want and desire. Lexi Buchanan introduces the attractive McKenzie clan. You can’t help but fall in love with the McKenzie Brothers. “Seduce” is the first book in the series which focuses in the erotic love story of Lily and Michael.

“My blood had started to heat, and so had by temper. She was mine, and he had no right
putting his hands on her. F**k, what the hell was I thinking.” Love happens unexpectedly. Sometimes it’s hard to leave a relationship because it’s comfortable even if love is no longer present. Letting go of one’s insecurities and allowing yourself to love someone passionately is difficult- this is a constant battle for Lily and Michael.

If “Seduce” is an indication of the McKenzie series- these will be a steamy, hot, erotic series. One you can’t resist!

Not bad start to a series. I like a family series with each book being about one brother. We get to see the brothers progress through the series. One thing I did not care for was how quickly they acted on the compulsion to be together. I would have enjoyed it more if we had a bit more time contemplating and fighting urges. And the way the surprise (hidden fears, vocalized worries, insecurities) at the end, well, it was a bit weird for me. It seems every feeling was vocalized and acted on immediately. In real life, our minds sometimes stew on things first. I started book 2 and that is gearing up on a more natural pace. I loved Michael and Lilly....I like where this author is going with this series and intend to read on.

Shit! I can only pick one brother?! Ok. Michael I'm a a book whore so I'm happy with you for now until your brother comes around.

This book is HOT HOT HOT!!! I LOVED how Lily wasn't a pushover in this book, she was a strong female lead. It's beyond refreshing to come across a character like hers. Combined her take charge attitude with Michael's sexiness and WOAH! The storyline never got boring, their was enough just angst to keep on the edge. What I really loved about this book was that I couldn't figure out what the secret was. Most books now are so predictable and I could not figure it out until that very moment. LOVED IT!!!!

Hmmm why did I wait so long to start this series? A boss and an employee meet, sparks fly and make a burning fire. Michael McKenzie a CEO, sexy and one hell of a man. Lilly is a survivor of loss, strong and determined to make it on her own. Lexi Buchanan gives you emotions from tears to laughter. Seduce is hot, steamy and a fabulous story to get lost in when it comes to reading. The McKenzie brothers are men to fall for and I can't wait to see what happens with them. What happens when you have an attraction that is burning so hot for someone? Will Michael and Lilly be able to love each other with mind, body and soul? On to my next Lexi read!

Holy shit… That was hot… I think I'll need a cold shower as soon as I finish this review.

Lily is in stuck in a loveless relationship and lost her job.
Michael doesn't do relationships after his wife cheated on him.
Lily is looking for a new job and Michael for a new PA.

And there you go, I think I don't have to tell ya what happens now…

I really liked the book, but sometimes it was just a little too fast forward and cheesy for my liking. Other then that panty dropping hot.

Hmmmmmnnn! I was really, really looking forward to this book, and I was really, really rooting for it, but I felt it just didn't deliver for me.

I liked that Michael was a hot, private CEO, I liked the instalove, I liked the alternate pov's, I loved the hot steaminess.

I didn't like that the steaminess was repetitive, and I don't know whether it was just the style of writing, but I struggled with the flow of the story. I feel bereft...:-(

I should have been forewarned when I found this random book on my Kindle which I don’t remember buying, let alone reading (which my Kindle assures me I have). This is probably because I fell asleep while reading this before and purged the experience from my mind.

For a book which is supposedly full of ‘sexy times’ I am surprised at how bored I was. The writing was competent but the plotting was awful. Putting aside that the synopsis basically laid out the entire plot, the characterisation of the leads was inconsistent or repetitive.

Our lead fall in love in the instant they lay eyes on each other. However, they can’t be together because the heroine is already with someone. But wait, that is not really a problem since she is not in love with her boyfriend anymore but she can’t break up with him because she needs to save up to move out. Thus, she never tells him that she wants to break up and continues sleeping in the same bed with him (but not really sleeping with him). This is all until she can save enough money and then finally get the millionaire CEO of her dreams. However, it is all ok because the boyfriend is cheating on her. She doesn’t know that but we do so it’s all ok that she has sex with the CEO hero and kisses him etc.

I could go on but thinking about this further is putting me in a bad mood. Basically, the heroine starts cheating about 20% into the book and then feels guilty until the next chapter where she cheats again and feels guilty again. This continues till about 60% of the way through when the leads get together and the hero morphs into a jealous asshole. Because… reasons. His ex-wife was a cheater so all women are like that - standard bad romance book logic.

I had little enough patience or sympathy for the leads as it is but they overstayed their thing welcome in the latter half when the book really dragged. It basically become a series of sex scenes which I started to skim just to get to the end of this.

I would have given this like a 1.5 stars when 85% into the book this happened:

I give up. 1 star it is.

Seduce (McKenzie Brothers) Lexi Buchanan

I received this from the author in return for an honest review. I don't gush and give false praise – I don't believe that helps readers or authors so what you read is what I truly feel about a book.

I'm a sucker for a romance with a happy ever after and Lexi delivers in this fabulous sexy book. The description covers pretty well what the book is about so I'll concentrate on how it felt to me as a reader.

I really enjoyed the characters – the felt real, that’s always a big deal for me as if I can't empathise with them or they feel flat/stilted I can't get “into” the book. I want to escape into book magic – that place where the real world fades and were enmeshed in someone else life. Lexi's writing did just that for me – for a while I was there beside the characters, feeling what they felt. Michael and Lily has a great sexual rapport right from the start and the sex scenes started within a few pages and just got hotter and hotter. They are very graphic, very frequent and steamy and....i never thought I’d say this...but almost too frequent. There seemed to be several pages of sex then a few pages of the actual story and then more sex. I love erotica but there was almost a point in this book where it overshadowed the story itself and a good story is essential in my view.

There were some great characters, Sylvia the office gossip, the lovely Dale who interviewed her, the office bitch Jacky – she had decided Michael was going to be her property and was trying hard to make it happen and then there's Michael's family – great supportive parents and The Brothers. I am looking forward to the next books which, like this one focus on each one of them. I think a missed opportunity happened with Jacky – she was a real;y nasty character and yet played such a tiny part – I love a good stirring troublemaker in a romance (I know – masochist!) and feel she could have played a larger role. Perhaps she will in later books :)

As all the best romances do there was the breakup – but it was short and I like a bit more angst, tears, hand-wringing and soul-searching and this one was over quite quickly although it was very emotional. I guess its those masochistic tendencies of mine again...

Its well edited and written, each plot nicely wrapped up and no unanswered questions. I could have got cross sometimes with how Lily was so understanding over Michaels jealousy – there were a few times she stood up to him and said she wasn't Viv but for the most she just seemed to accept it. Jealousy is a pretty strong emotion and can ruin a relationship if not controlled and I just felt she'd have been a bit stronger in standing up to him. Still she was head over heels in love and could see that he was too, so maybe that’s why she gave him so much leeway. He needed to be the jealous person for the story to work of course and he wasn't out of line in his actions – just that she reacted too lightly IMO....

At £3.08 349 pages on kindle its good value, especially as being part of a series (though thankfully a stand alone complete book and not one of those horrible damn cliffhanger endings one) its going to join my keepers file. I love to read a series through from first to last book once they're all out and at least with these stand alone books we can get satisfaction of a finished tale and not be left hanging for months for what happens next. (cliffhangers are my current bug bear so I’m applauding all authors who don't use that device – seems I’m not alone from the response I’ve had from readers so once again Thanks Lexi for not writing that style but giving us a whole book.

Warnings: there’s lots of sex, very graphic, hot, steamy and erotic so if that’s not your thing don't buy this book and then complain – its not fair to author or to other readers who do want that.

Stars: good solid four – bit more drama, angst and tears and I'd have gone five – maybe in the next book :)

I have been finding books for my blog to start up with and I have finally found the one. Lexi has done it again, when she wrote "Seduce".

I loved the chemistry that I felt between Michael and Lily. I also enjoyed the feeling that I got when the brothers' related to her.

The book, Seduce, is a story written about a couple leaving a torn past and uniting a courtship that was fast and intense. It is written in alternating Point Of Views. Sometimes, when author's write different POV's the story takes on a complexity that at most is usually not necessary. Not in this stories case. Seduce has been written so well done, that it flows well and is smooth not jagged in both how the characters relate and how the time line proceeds.

I would recommend this to Ages 18+. For readers overcoming previous heartache and finding a love meant to last a lifetime.

As far as what I want to share about the story plot, is that it consists of a young woman returning to work after being laid off at her boyfriend's company. Little do we know until later on in the story, what part he had to play in this.

Lily and Michael had to both overcome issues. Michael needed to be reassurred that Lily would never abandon him, and Lily needed to be held like the woman she is deserving of a good man's love.

I always like a story that I can take meaning from. I did from this book. What I picked up from the story is that while relationships are hard work through perseverance and true love (not true lust) all things can be overcame.

The other thing I learned is to always be honest in everything you do.

Lexi has other stories coming out with Michael's brothers. Lets give Lexi a huge pat on the back for the work well done, and a lot of encouragement to provide us (the reader) with future book's just as excellent as Seduce has been for us to read.

Keep up the great work Lexi!!!

Seduce begins with Lily starting her new job with out her live in boyfriend knowing about it. She knows they have been drifting apart. And she's trying to find away to leave him, but in order to do that she has to find a new place to live first. That's why she was eager to get a new job, and not tell him about it. But when she meets her new boss there is an undeniable attraction between them. And they sort of start a relationship, that may be distance, but still a relationship until Lily is able to leave her boyfriend.

Michael has been through the ringer in the past, and he's never wanted to get attached to a woman again. However, Lily changes him almost instantly. The problem is Michael still has hangs up about his past that could put their relationship in jeopardy.

I have to say the plot line was the only real interesting thing in this book. I really couldn't connect with any of the characters. And Michael really took is jealousy thing a little bit too far in my opinion. And Lily was frustrating as well. She technically still had a boyfriend yet she was messing around with Michael. I really didn't care for either of them. The only one I cared about really was Lucian. And now I kinda want to read the other books just to read his. So I have to say I didn't really like this one. it wasn't for me.

I really enjoyed reading this book! I read it in one go and didn't really want to put it down at all!

Yes there is insta love but sometimes i just need these kind of books once in a while. I'll be honest and say that i did skip a couple of the sex scenes just because i was getting a little tired of reading them. Lily just turns in to this vixen who no matter where they are wants to undo his zip! I think HE had more control and restraint than she did! LOL. I just think sometimes with a lot of sex in a book you don't always need to be so descriptive otherwise people get tired of reading the same thing. But don't get me wrong i love a good sex scene and these were extremely HOT.

I kinda wish she was a little harder on Michael at the end since he was a massive ass but i suppose he did apologize profusely (with crying) i just would have made him wait a little longer ;)

The same with her ex David - he deserved to have a very painful croth area... if you get my meaning ;)

But all in all i'm glad i found these books and i cannot wait to read about the other brothers :)

24 years old heroine, 36 years old hero. What I liked there wasn't any angst, any real conflict. What it was kind of super unrealistic (but it was a light read so I didn't care so much). After all, I must confess I enjoyed this read, it was relaxing...

Lust at first sight!!! That's how I'll define this book. Everything is just about lust... from the first time they met. The story is also a bit shallow and predicting. I know this is erotica but still I expect some love blooms from the two and not just constant and I mean constant sex. It's just too much. The story somewhat focuses more on fulfilling their sexual needs and fantasy rather than their love for one another.

The only thing I was continuing to read this is because I was only looking forward to Micheal's supposed "secret", unfortunately even that was predictable for as early as it was first mentioned. As much as I was curious about the story of other Mckenzie. I don't know if I can still read the next book if it similar to this one.

I was really looking forward to reading this one.
I did enjoy it, I just found the insta love and lots of sex wore me down.
Don't get me wrong I love me a hot steamy sex scene, but I don't know, they went at it like crazy.
Really CRAY-CRAY..
I found myself feeling bad for my own sex life if that's what some peeps are getting daily.
hahahahha

I will definitely read the next one in the series. I loved all the brothers and looking forward to all their stories.

I liked this book and liked the McKenzie family. Can't wait for Lucien to get a book. But I wish there would've been more drama. It was good, worth reading, but not angsty enough for me.

I had to go back and add one question to this review:

Why didn't the heroine have any friends before meeting the hero?

I loved this book and am so looking forward to the whole series! I would of loved to have a 2nd book that followed Michael and Lily story but am hoping that we at least hear some more of their story in Sebastians book. Everything was a perfect mix and had me squirming in my seat many times LOL
Great Job! Can't wait for Book 2!!!!!

The story was unrealistic to the point I just lost interest before I reached 40%. I'd rather believe that my Christmas gifts were brought by Santa than that a chain of events described in "Seduce" could ever happen in real life.
