As if making her laptop sales quota for the month wasn't a pain in the ass all by itself, now twenty-six year old Wynter McBride suddenly finds a whole host of problems from out of a bad b-movie fantasy flick. Vampires running fortune 500 companies, Werewolves with a biting wit, and well dressed Witches with an attitude are now part of Wynter's everyday life. Wynter must figure out why the pesky and somewhat perverted little Will O Wisps somehow hold the key to saving the planet.
I picked this up because someone described it as 'a sexier Jim Butcher'. I can only assume that this person a) has never read Jim Butcher, b) has no inclination of what 'sexier' means, and c) was paid lots of money to say something nice about this novel. And I use the term novel loosely ...
This was so bad I can't even begin to list the atrocities, so my advice is simply this - avoid, avoid, avoid. Go read some ACTUAL Jim Butcher ...
Was available free on amazon kindle (Well it was free last week, it seems to be 77p now). I have just finished 'Peice of Me', overall it well worth a read..
One of the main reasons i read this book was because a review on Amazon mentioned that it was alike "The Dresden Files", I would say it more closely liked towards the Hallows series by Kim Harrison.
It has some writing issues and even some obvious spelling mistakes, which could have been avoided with a proof read. There's a section in the book where it uses percentages which is a tad confusing because it comes off as 1% instead of an 100% (it was something like: 0.30% 0.15% 0.15% so on that accounted to 1%). Things like that made me gave the book 3 stars instead of 4 stars.
Some other pet-peeve i had about the book the character came of as a bit naive, a walkover and a bit shallow. The triangle between Q and Phil seems a-bit ridiculous to me, she comes off as a bit sex craved like it overrides her logic and Independence. For a women who in a high position job and claims to be independent and not take crap from anybody.
Also Phil attitude annoyed the heck out of me. I understand the author 'tried' to make Phil an 'Alpha' male because he a werewolf, but seriously he just comes off as a needy, over-intruding ass. He always seems to have to have the attention on him, and think he is the ... I think it suppose to come off as charismatic, but unfortunately it doesn't.
Overall I would rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars, and mainly due to the writing issues, from a book gotten from Amazon (not read on the fiction press website or fan-fiction). Especially now they are charging from the book.
This book has a different take on Vampires and such. The main character works in the business world where she encounters various creatures. The way the author included parts of the business world into the Paranormal was interesting. The book isn't slow at first but it took me a few chapters to get used to her writing style and get hooked. It has some pretty funny moments. I would recommend it. It was a light read but still had some depth and new perspective to it. Her sex scenes are pretty awesome.
This book started off good then just lost me. I finished it and received an email from amazon that significant changes had been made to the book and I could download it for free. The problem for me with that is while I am sure the new version is better I just am not capable of starting this one again. I have to say the old version had promise but did not deliver for me. If you take a chance try newest version!
Loved it, I can not wait for the next. I can not believe this was free. Kind of yasmine galenorn and Sierra dean all mixed in one. the hero was the perfect mix for me, sexy, sweet with a dash of inner witch thrown in. I will be waiting for the next book!
Hot, Sexy and Wicked good. When can we expect another in this series?
