Three words- LOVED THIS BOOK!

Everyone needs Ramon in their life!!! Oh boy!!!

I was hooked beginning of the first page. The plot was awesome, the writing was great, each page I turned I couldn't get more. I wanted more and more of Ramon.

Breaking the Rules is part of a series of books about Ramon, who is doing his PhD in erotic literature. In this first book we meet Grace, an Associate Professor of Social Science. She chose her career over her social life and ended up swearing men off because she always found them boring in the bedroom and never seemed to get what she wanted. Grace was working on contemporary female eroticism and Ramon chose that as his subject for his research. Grace didn't trust him or believe him questioning why would any male want to research this topic because they possibly could never understand what females feel. Grace ended up talking to her boss, Andrew, and asking him to give Ramon to someone else. We find out that Ramon requested Grace. Even until now that is a mystery to me. Why did he request her? Was it only because she was the only female at the University researching this topic? Or was there more?

I don't like to write reviews and give you a summary of has happened in the book because then you find out things you may like to read for yourself. I will say that Ramon takes Grace for a wild ride and shows her what she can feel and want in the bedroom and that it is possible to get it if you relax and let yourself be heard.

I loved the scenes for Ramon and Grace and how he first seduced her. I liked a little bit of the drama between Grace and Andrew.

I think this story will hit home to a lot of women out there. Sometimes we have different needs than other women and unless we speak up and let the men know what we want and how we want it, we won't be satisfied and like Grace think that every man is the same. Ramon shows us different. He studied it. He knows how to turn a woman on. So hot!

The ending of the book was awesome but it left me wanting more!! I also want to know who that female was that Ramon kept going with to the library.

I also want to know who Ramon is. Where is he from? How does he show up at the right time?

LOVED it!

I was very unsure about reading this book, I am a firm HEA girl and from the sound of the blurb I was pretty sure that the two main characters were not going to stay together. Is that the kind of book I really want to read? I didn’t think so but I am really glad I did because Breaking the Rules turned out to be a pleasant surprise and was not at all what I thought it was.

Breaking the Rules is fairly explicit, it does not shy away from that aspect but what it does is use sex as a tool for self-discovery. Grace is uptight, straight laced and to be honest not all that fun. Enter Ramon; hot, Spanish and completely off limits. At first I have to admit I didn’t like him, I thought he was cocky and arrogant but he managed to see something in Grace and no one else could and sets about to free her from her self-inflected loneliness. He does not do this for himself, not even for his own pleasure but because he wants her to realise that there is more to life than career success and that relationships are worth the effort you put in to make them work.

Grace and Ramon are not meant to be together, not long term, even though the sex between them is explosive. But that does not mean that there is not a happy ending. I don’t want to go into too much detail because that would ruin it so I will just say that I loved the way it finished and wouldn’t have changed a thing.

This book is not perfect, sometimes the characters got on my nerves a little, sometimes I found it all just a little bit cheesy, but for the most part it was very enjoyable, very engaging and extremely steamy.

The publisher provided me with a free copy of this book in exchange for and honest review

Oh my! This is one hot read. From the start Kate Belle draws the reader into the story introducing you to Grace. She is a career driven woman who decided to forgo men, marriage and children to focus on her career. She considers her friendship with a male colleague "the most fulfilling relationship with a man she'd ever had."

In walks into her office Ramon Mendez. A handsome PhD student, he rattles her in way that she never imagined. She considers him rude and pretentious and she is determined to keep him at bay. But his voice, his passion and his confidence lures her in.

Ramon is every woman's fantasy. Young, smart and exuding passion with every confident step he takes and every grin he gives, he is convinced that there is more to sex than just the coming together of two bodies and he is determined to prove Grace wrong.

And he does indeed!

The writing was both sensuous and erotic with a complex character in Grace and an alluring character in Ramon. Their chemistry was off the charts HOT and when they came together it was as great as I was anticipating. However, what I enjoyed the most was watching how Grace was learning to let herself feel. From wearing her hair loose around her shoulders to her boldness in the bedroom with Ramon, her letting go was a great step in her development. I was intrigued by Ramon's theories about sex and by him personally. I was curious as to why he was doing this for Grace and of how he got pleasure out of helping her. I can't wait to read more about Ramon's adventures and 'research'.

I did not liked it. I did not see Ramon as a great lover more like a fairy godmother. It doesn't have any steamy scenes and I could not see the bond between him and Grace or Grace and Andrew. Andrew had to fight more than he did (which was close to unexisted) A mystery was created around Ramon and yet nothing was revealed about him. I don't think I would buy it if I had a chance or would lend it to someone. I am hoping for a better sequel. I might read book 2 (Bloom) but only because once I start a book series I have to finish it even if it's not good.

Well I guess we can all learn something if we open our minds to what life has to offer us. Grace placed her career before herself and convinced herself she didn't miss it. Once Ramon, a PHD student walked into her life he helped her open her mind to what could be. At first I thought this guy was a complete jerk, but first appearances are not always what they seem. A NOvella that leaves you wanting more.

Breaking the Rules is the first in a untitled series by Katie Belle featuring Ramon Mendez, a handsome guy in his early thirties ,who is using his looks to help women and change their lives one woman at a time.

In the first book his target is Grace, who is happy where she is until he turns her world upside down. Grace was engaged to be married but broke it off as they weren’t working towards the same places as she wanted to focus on her career. Now in her mid forties, she has her work as an Associate Professor of Science and her colleague/friend Andrew. Grace and Andrew have an easy going relationship, they have drinks every Friday and they pretty much know everything about each other’s lives. Andrew never married either so they seek companionship in each other but that is about to be tested and things may change, all because Andrew, in his role as coordinator, has placed Ramon with Grace.

Ramon is her new student and he has been assigned to Grace because her colleague Harry does not have any room for another student and because of his topic: ‘Temporary female eroticism and sexuality’. This topic makes her suspicious and you have to concur—what man in his right mind would choose to study this? You would conclude someone doing so is a pervert. Well, Ramon has done his research as Grace has helped supervise female students on this subject in the past, but never had a male student. Ramon pointedly wants her as his supervisor and Andrew agrees because a male supervisor won’t be as good on the subject. He is well aware of the repercussions of handing it to Grace who is sure to be up in arms, distrusting the student’s intentions.

From the get-go Ramon has his mind on one thing only and Grace wants him passed over to another professor because she thinks he’s arrogant. Oh yeah, he is! but he knows his stuff and gives her a book in one of their meetings which sets something off as Grace is intrigued and decides to read it. She finds the book enlightens her and soon Ramon is helping her realise what she’s been missing all these years.

This is the first book I have read by Katie Belle and I have the second book in the series pending in my reading list. This is a right-up-my-alley book; i love books with a bit of erotica and it’s great to see that Random House Australia is publishing this. I hope to see Ramon doesn’t lose his touch in further books in this series as he is one arrogant man who knows how to keep the woman happy and help them realise what they are missing. I want to know more about this guy, though; he won’t reveal much about himself which only adds to the mysterious aura that is Ramon Mendez. And poor Andrew: I think this was the most excitement he’s had in years and thank goodness he manned up!

Grace is an uptight old lady who seems to need Spanish Ramon to help her release her sexuality.
Maybe I am too young to be reading about a forty year old woman but I was incessantly annoyed with Ramon and even Grace. Grace's life seems fine, she is an academic faculty at a University and she has decided not marry. Go you, Grace. Until Ramon, a student wanting to study female eroticism and sexuality, asks her to be his adviser. Ramon is charming, handsome and annoying. He makes Grace feel uncomfortable. After the first meeting Grace is not impressed and hopes to transfer him to another faculty member.

But to her dismay her co-worker, Andrew, says that she has to have Ramon and it will be "good" for her. In the next meeting Grace falls in the rain. Thankfully Ramon is there to save her. Damsel in distress meet your saviour. Grace simpers because he smells so good and blah blah blah. Once they get back to the office Grace is not on guard like she normally is and Ramon takes advantage of this by fondling her leg, dripping water on it and then licking it. No, you read that right, licking her leg. The woman is hurt and the dude is licking her leg. If that wasn't ridiculous enough, Grace likes it. She tells herself she shouldn't be doing it and all those "I'm doing a bad thing" thoughts stupid women think. Luckily for her Andrew calls and interrupts the weird leg porn. Another male to the rescue. Someone please slap all the men in this book for being presumptuous assholes.

What I find most irritating about this dynamic is that Grace is an independent woman and she has a solid career but now she needs to be a sexual beast which only Ramon can help her with. Why can't Grace just want to jump the dude because he is hot?! Why does she need to be sexually weak and insecure? Why can't she buy a vibrator and have at it? As I said she is forty something so maybe I am just a product of my generation.

I finished this book, though it was frustrating, because it wasn't entirely horrible. I do wonder if my response to these characters was the difference in age. I will read the second in the series to see if the strong female characters Kate Belle introduces can remain that way throughout the story, fingers crossed. The sex scenes are well written but the plot well, I'll stop harping on about it. It may appeal to you, it may not and I hope I haven't turned you off it! Give it a shot, it's not a long read.

These were a cute read. It was also quick.

I will say that I just didn't connect with Ramon as much as I was hoping I would. I wanted to like him and thought that things would end differently in the first book, but when I got to the second book I thought, okay maybe this will end how I expect, no not so much. He is like the modern day Don Juan. He is out to provide his services to awaken women's sexual pleasure as well as make them realize what they want out of a relationship. NOW that being said...I just didn't get sucked in as much as I was thinking I would.

I thought of the first book (Breaking the Rules) hey, they are two single of legal age why not screw around and have some fun. If you are with a guy who seems to know exactly what they want it as well as seeming to know exactly what that particular woman's body can do as well as what it wants. I mean, could you imagine??? I would make an appointment with him! But when it all comes down to it, he really is nothing more than a man whore. He just wants sex with no commitment and that's what he does. I almost felt like he took advantage of these women. He looks at them finds their weakness and then pounces. I think that would be the reason I was not so drawn in. Not unless I got to see the consequences of those actions.

The second book, (Bloom) well, what can I say. I know that MANY women go through exactly what Emma was going through having kids and just feeling a disconnect with your own life, as well as feeling undesirable.

NOW, I think for me, I liked that one less because I am not a fan of cheating. I don't dislike a book on that alone, but when there is really no reason for a woman to cheat. All she has to do is talk to her husband. She doesn't though. Instead, she sleeps with another man. But I know that is how most affairs start. The new attention is intoxicating. I just wasn't a fan of the second one as much as I wanted to be. I think it might have been even interesting to have him be a sex therapist for the two of them together. That might have been a better spin on things. Because, well I don't think she should have cheated. Then he does his normal "satisfy" then leave and tell her she will now be happy in her marriage for the most part. I was just a bit at a loss as far as that goes.

I just finished this book about three hours ago and I’m still not really sure what I think of it. I began asking myself some questions to figure it out. Like would I buy this book…probably no. Would I recommend this book if it was free…maybe. Was I compelled to turn the next page or did I just do it because I needed to finish the book…the later. Am I feeling this way because the book I read before this one was so fantastic that I would be disappointed with any book read after that one….Maybe. Did I like the ending to the book and could I feel good about what happened next…no and no, because there really was no context that would tell me how Andrew and Grace would interact.

In all honesty, the book was “OK” just OK, there was nothing really special about the story but I liked the concept of a Don Juan exposing a woman to her inner sexuality so that she could embrace the love that is so obviously staring her in the face. The descriptions of Ramon left me with very sexy and sultry images which I loved. The descriptions of Grace and Andrew, left me feeling sorry for them above all else which was disappointing. I guess where some of the “OK” feeling comes from is that I think if the book went a bit further into awakening both Andrew and Grace together or If Andrew had asked Ramon to “help” him with getting Grace to see him for the love of her life, that would have made this book so much better. Even more, if the book would have gone on to demonstrate how Grace and Andrew were together, that would have been good too.

I would say 2 &3/4 stars out of 5. Ok, but could have been better. I will add that recently I have read some really good books and though I shouldn’t do this, it’s hard not to compare books.

Ok, first off why does that not surprise me that I have once again managed to read a series backwards. I seem to always have a knack for reading Book #2 or #3 etc before Book #1 . I'm not always sure how this happens but alas my dear readers it does. I wonder if there is some unwritten book rule which I have broken by reading series out of order. Just like me , this book is all about Breaking the Rules - though in my case unlike me this book is about Breaking the Rules sexually and between some pages they are breaking the rules very graphically. In Bloom, we discovered that Ramon was studying a PHD and Breaking the Rules is where it starts as Gym Instructor Ramon is studying his PHD in Eroticism in Females. A very interesting and intriguing topic for a male to study. Professor Grace Kingston recieves Ramon as her student and so begins their time together - starting off professionally and eventually ending with Grace sucumbing to her sexual needs and desires , ripping off all her clothes and giving in to all her urges with Ramon behind locked doors. I know it sounds cliched, but the way Kate Belle has written it - It was a good read.
Read as Ramon offers Grace the chance to Break the Rules in order to Break down the Wall she has been building up around her.

Saucey, Sensual, and Sexy

Grace lived her life according to her own rules. Men were friends and collegues and nothing more, until Ramon stepped into her office and changed everything. He challenges her to relax and be the person she is meant to be. He pushes her to live her life to the fullest and brace her sexuality. With the help of Roman showing her pleasures she never knew he body could have he helps her open up to everyone around her and she starts to see her life in a new light.

This is a short erotic novella and the first Kate Belle book I have read. I love erotic books and I enjoyed this one. There was so much passion in this book it made me crave it for Grace. Roman showed her things about her body that she didn't know. The initimate scenes are sexy and arousing and it left me wanting more. Ramon is younger and hungry to show Grace all the pleasures she can experience and I loved that. I was finally happy to read a book about an older woman and younger man with so many books out there about young woman and older men this was a breathe of fresh air.

Kate Belle is a great storyteller and she leaves you panting and wanting more with the scenes she writes. I am getting ready to dig in and thoroughly enjoy Book 2 Bloom.. Love me some Roman.

Review:

"Breaking the Rules" by Kate Belle was the first in a series: 'Radom Romance' of erotic novels by this author. This will be a read where you find the writing sensuous and erotic and with the character Grace that allures the character by the name of Ramon Mendez. Now, let me say up front this is a mature adult read. Not for the faint hearted. The idea behind this read was that this heroine needed to learn to let go and be able to let herself feel. For years Grace has been career minded and she 'forgo' men, marriage and children to focus on her career. Well, things were going fine until Roman Mendez, a PhD student walks into her office. This is where I say you must pick up the read because it is HOT, sensuous and erotic. By 'their supervisory meeting will Roman teach the teacher?' I enjoyed this novella and if you would like to see how this author in "BREAKING THE RULES" was able to provide a way out of this situation and will leave you the reader satisfied, I would recommend this read.

I have mixed feelings on this book. I like my HEA endings and I can't think of book I've read recently that wasn't non-fiction that didn't have one. Knowing its part of a series really throws me off.

This book was about Grace and her coming into her sexuality with Ramon. I had a hard time relating to Grace. I felt that her non-sense views of sex in her adult life and how her 3 lovers didn't satisfy her led her to an academic career in which she writes as sex as a matter of procreation. Then in comes Ramon and what the hell lets just throw out all of that back story and lust and all her ideas are thrown out the window.

You learn very little of Ramon. Other than he's self assured and cocky. I felt like his mission is to take a pitty on women that are sexually repressed. Teach them how good it can be and then throw them into the world for what they want. Because its not him.

This series revolves around Ramon. There's no his point of view just the intake of the heroine.

It's a short read a little over 100 pages.

Unexpected. Interesting. Sexy. Leaves you wanting more.

Grace has sworn off men and keeps all her relationships strictly platonic. She is hoodwinked into mentoring Ramon, her new PhD student. He is researching comtemporary female eroticism and sexuality. And he's on a mission to convince her that her theories on the subject are all wrong.

Andrew, Grace's colleague and friend, was responsible for organizing Roman's mentorship with Grace. After she met Roman, she tried to convince Andrew that he needed to give Roman to another professor, but he wouldn't hear of it.

Until he started to suspect that maybe the lines between teacher and student were being crossed...

Roman. What can I say about Roman? Well.... he's smooth, I'll give him that. He knocks Grace off balance at their first meeting. She tries to keep things professional, but there's just something about him.

Wow. Captured my attention and didn't let go. Some steamy parts, definitely. A true awakening. I enjoyed the first in this series, and can't wait to read more. Especially how this one ended, I wasn't ready for it to end there!

I have to say that I quite enjoyed it. I’m surprised because I usually love those main two characters in erotic novels, I get used to them easily. But this time I couldn’t do that. I didn’t like Ramon that much. He was one of the usual characters in the books like these. But his role as a mentor, teaching Grace how to satisfy herself, how the sex could be, there was no romance for me and at the beginning I thought that two will be in a relationship. But it didn’t go like this.

With Ramon’s help; Grace is changing, opening her eyes and finally seeing Andrew who has been with her so many years. I liked that part and I liked the end. I was pitying Andrew at the beginning but everything turned up to good. It ended how I want it to end, but I was waiting to see Andrew and Grace a little bit more. Stil as I said, it was a good one.

Where to begin....

"Grace is a beautiful woman in complete control of her world. A long time ago she chose a career – as Associate Professor of Social Science - over children and marriage, and has never regretted it.

Aware of the need to keep up her professional reputation, she rejects his subtle advances, but he persists. And during their intimate supervision sessions, her defences start to crumble."

Pretty much the story in a nutshell. Ramon becomes Grace's lover until she figures out what and who she wants to be with for the rest of her life. It's . About the last 2 pages Grace sort of ends up with who has loved her all along and that's where it ends.

Sexy nouvella!!

Meet Grace....a University Associate Professor. She is career oriented, serious, and chose her career over having a family/marriage. She has never regretted this decison. Grace has been assigned to supervise a student on his research.

Enter Ramon Mendez.....he is the new research student. His topic of research?? The contemporary female eroticism and sexuality!! This sexy student radiates sexual appeal. Grace finds herself disturbed by how he can shake her composure.

Ramon makes it his 'mission' to break down the barriers that Grace has in place. They embark on quite the sexual trist. He becomes her lover - while trying to make Grace see the joys of self confidence and sexualism.

There is just the right amount of sexual 'deliciousness' in this book!! It was a great nouvella!!

Being a professional woman isn't easy on your love life. All the men in Graces’ life to this point didn't understand her need to succeed in her chosen profession so she has given up men except as friends and colleagues. Ramon is a research student who is assigned to Graces’ supervision. Ramon’s topic of research is a work on erotic literature, female eroticism and sexuality. Ramon’s passion is the human female organism. In Grace he sees a passionate woman who denies the sexual part of her being. Through their supervisory meetings Ramon teaches the teacher.

I enjoyed this novella. It was well written sensuous, erotic and sweet. This is the first of a series featuring our enigmatic and oh so HOT Ramon. I do look forward to his future adventures.

Grace Kingston is a associate professor who became a supervisor for a PhD student, Ramon Mendez. In the beginning, Grace didn't want to supervise him because Ramon is a bit unusual. Slowly, Ramon introduced her to a pleasure world and Grace seems could not object.

It's a well-written novella and I enjoy reading it. It's HOT, definitely. But, it seems for me is not enough. The story is flat and predictable. I don't like character whom being used for pleasure and he gave it willingly. Duh! Yet, it's quite sweet for the interaction between Grace-Ramon and Grace-Andrew.

Overall, it's just an okay from me, will read next Kate's book "Bloom". Hope it will be better than this one.

This is a novella so is not a long book.

Grace works at a university, is 47 but looks good for it, she's singe and uptight. Her colleague Andrew informs her she has a new charge to supervise....... Thirty something Ramon, who is studying woman and sexuality. Ramon has shoulder length dark hair with a curl to it and is Spanish - get the picture !!!

The first time they meet he starts to flirt with her, she's not impressed - but this man will not stop pushing.

There are some very steamy scenes, including ice cubes........

An enjoyable read, only three characters, and i really liked the end.

Received as an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley.

Grace is an Assoc Professor who is assigned to mentor Ramon Mendez for his thesis on Women's erotica. Straight away she is rattled by Ramon and the effect his presence has on her.

I liked Grace. She was quite strict on her own life, living in an ordered and uncomplicated manner, living and breathing work with the only socialising being with her colleague Andrew every friday night. I liked how Ramon bought her out of her shell and opened her up to other experiences in life she was ruling out.

Great reflective read.

I didn't hate it, but I didn't think it was okay either. It was a little boring to me. I'm not sure I like the idea that Ramon goes from woman to woman, which doesn't require me to be invested in the story of his non-relationship with Grace. I knew their relationship would end and I didn't feel like there was any connection other than the sex.

No reason to want to now what was going to happen, because you knew from the beginning that there was really nothing there.

Kate Belle proves with her novellas that she is an accomplished and very talented author. Her command of language and distinct style in using it, ensures these erotic stories are told with class and charisma. Her ability to portray sexy Ramon as the consummate lover and educator of women in the art of making true love, transcends many other authors abilities and I cannot wait for her novel THE YEARNING to be released in May. Watch this author, she is something special.

This book did not do it for me. I did not get a feel for the characters and just could not get into the book. It seemed like it was missing something. Did enjoy some parts, but just not enough.
