Boing!

Rate this book
Dynamic duo Sean Taylor and Bruce Ingman present a boinging, bouncing comedy — and a masterful display of emergency trampolining skills.

Holy moly! A terrible thing has happened to the Great Elastic Marvel, five times World Trampolining Champion. There he is, practicing his deadly difficult, quadruple headfirst flip, when suddenly he flips right out a window and plunges toward — gasp! — a zooful of lions, and — gasp! — a speeding railroad train — and, well, even more unthinkable dangers. Can his superduper springing skills save him from earning a title as the Man with Rubber Legs and His Bottom in Plaster?

Sean Taylor started writing poetry as a teenager. In 1993, he came across a newspaper article which reported that a goat slaughtered in Iran had been found to have teeth made of gold. He tried writing a story for children. It was called 'The Goat with the Golden Teeth' and it won second prize in a competition run by the British newspaper 'The Independent' and Scholastic Children's Books. Since then, Sean has focussed on writing for children and has published over forty books for young readers of different ages. As well as writing, he has many years’ experience visiting schools, where he works with poetry and storytelling to encourage young people to write themselves. He lives partly in England (where he was born) and partly in Brazil( where his wife is from.)

What a fun, silly book! The world trampolining champion accidentally falls out his window while practicing a trick and he proceeds to bounce all over town. My favorite part about the book is the hilarious exclamations he makes every time he thinks he's falling to his death and then what he says when he successfully bounces away. Good times.

Starts with the character falling through a window. YIKES! The rest was a series of things that didn't build on itself. Then back to where we started from. Meh.

Based on a story the author heard about a champion trampoline jumper falling through the window, this version imagines many dangers and escapes by the "five times world trampolining champion(sometimes known s the Man with Rubber Legs, the Jumping Master)."

The Great Elastic Marvel misjudged a jump while practicing on his trampoline and heads out the window of his high rise apartment. Through many feats of daring and bouncing prowess, he manages to make his way home.

Simple, childish illustrations.

Very kinetic book. Dude goes BOING, repeatedly, narrowly avoiding multiple mishaps. But does he nail the finish?

Mama read this to me because we loved the Hoot Owl book by the same author. This book wasn't as interesting, but I liked the large "BOING!" text on certain pages.

Completely ludicrous, but I think it will be a super fun readaloud with my DLP kids. Can be paired with Fortunately and/or Oh, No!
