About the Ancients of Light series
Chosen is the first in the thirteen books of the Ancients of Light series and is only the beginning of a young Witch’s journey toward developing both the strength of character and magic that will be required to fulfill her prophesied role as leader of the Light faction.

Revelations of nuances in the Prophecy - facets that were never fully comprehended by the Ancients - will continue in successive stories. The culmination of its true meaning in the destiny of the supernatural world of the Realm will only be revealed when Kaitriana is adequately prepared to lead the Warriors now being called together to champion the Light’s purpose.

Familiar characters return for each storyline as the focus turns to a new key couple in every book - a pair that significantly factors into the purpose of Light – however, the story of the Chosen does not end with Book #1. Kaitriana and Lorcan, their growth together as partners in leadership and in love as a couple, will thread through the series as Kaitriana assumes the role that was destined as hers since the beginning.

About the Author
Heather Fleener lives in Indiana with her husband, D.A. and their twins, Thomas and Alexandra. Professionally she has spent her career working in the area of Intellectual Property law.

Reading has been a passion of hers since she was young and she has been a closet-romance junkie her entire life. The romantic styles of Judith McNaught and Julie Garwood are her inspiration, though she has read and loved the stories of countless other authors. Her fascination with the paranormal began to form at the young age of six, watching late-night ghost and vampire movies with her Grandpa. Unfortunately, as a result, she also remains afraid of the dark to this day.

Combining her love of epic romances and the supernatural was a natural progression for her overactive imagination. When the idea for the Ancients of Light series began, it was an abstract story line rambling around in her head to help kill a few miles on the treadmill. As the stories and plotlines continued to grow, it finally became necessary to put the words to paper and build the characters that had been living in the Realm and having conversations in her head for months.

The series is a testament to many miles on the treadmill and lots of characters that insist on having their stories told.

I’d have given more than 3 stars, but as the story progressed so did my irritation.
The heroine, Kat the Witch (strong, independent spitfire), is the Chosen to fulfill the Prophecy. The hero, Lorcan the Vampire, is the Key. The story is supposed to be about uniting two different fractions – the Witch and the Vampire in the war against the Dark. People were waiting for centuries for the Chosen. So if she was THE Chosen why did I have a feeling, while reading this, that it was poor imitation of Shakespearian Taming of the Shrew?! Come on, she, THE CHOSEN, The Queen (from the Warrior Caste, may I add), submitted everything to the Hero, because he was a Warrior of Light, and she wasn’t prepared to fight against the Dark, even though she was thought to do as much her whole existence.

From the beginning the author tries to convince us that Kat the Witch is so powerful that only she can lead the united forces of Light, but then suddenly it’s said that the Hero had the same powers all along, and that he is better suited for the role because he’s a man, a Warrior, and she’ll be too busy giving birth to his children to be a Queen. After she submitted all her power over Castes and her whole being to Lorcan, she pretty much did everything OBLIGINGLY (I really hate this word right now).

I was really annoyed with this chauvinistic plot. I was rolling my eyes so much I was afraid they’d roll out of my head…

Book provided by author

In the first century of creation the Vampire split into Dark and Light factions. The Light Vampire faction united with the Witch because of the mating between the Ancient Queen in the Warrior Caste of Witch, Brisen and an elder Vampire Alaric.

The Ancient Queen Witch was believed to have betrayed her coven and was killed by her mate. They were united no longer, Vampire believed all the Witch untrustworthy while the Witch were adamant of the Ancient Queens innocence and were enraged by her murder. Now, the Witch and Vampire had a dubious truce only on the battlefield.

A thousand years after the betrayal a prophecy was foretold by Ancient Myrrdyn of the Witch. He said a girl would be born who would wield the ultimate combination of powers from all 7 Caste of Witch and put an end to the Dark. In order to do this she had to take a Vampire as her mate. She was named, the Chosen. Will this girl find her mate and fulfil the prophecy? Or will mankinds only hope be destroyed?

Heather Fleener sends readers on a magical journey in this tale of good vs evil. Her descriptions make the story come alive and makes the reader yern to know more.

I bought this book as a free book on my Nook and WOW! I had no idea what I was getting myself into. This book has everything. The characters are fantastic, the magic is unbelievable, there is action, and tasteful romance. I enjoyed the writing style but that is because I put myself into the characters as I read. I'm definitely hooked on this series and really excited for the next 12!

I love love loved this book :)
Initially I was somewhat wary that Lorcan's dominating nature would squash Kaitriana's free spirit, as you so often find in a lot of supernatural coupling, especially with werewolf fiction really. But it wasn't about controlling her and getting her to be submissive, it was more a 1000+yr old teaching the 28yr old (that's been in a 500year coma) that she's powerful and brilliant, but immature and reckless.

They complimented each other well, and she didn't lose any of her personality throughout the book, which was refreshing, you normally see the females becoming slightly needy, but she just loved him completely, in addition to her spit fire nature.

The story follows the 'Chosen' witch, who's Grandfather's prophecy states she will bring an end to the war of Light vs Dark in favour of the Light, she'll join with a vampire in order to bring this prophecy to fruition. It was as a toddler she staked claim on Lorcan, The Warrior of Light, without realising what she was setting in motion, being just a child.

This story is their journey of finding each other, time and again, and over coming a lot of obstacles along the way, in their fight against the Dark. Apparently there is going to be 13 books all together in this series, and the only other series I have dedicated to that extent is The Morganville series and The Darkhunter series, but this one might just be added to them! Bring on the next book! :)

I give this book a 4.5 star rating. I am rating it a 5 since a 4 is too low in my opinion.
The ancient battle between the forces of Light and Dark is illuminated in this very well written book with an epic feeling - a true saga in the making. True love spanning centuries and distance place Lorcan and Kaitriana as two key players in the unending battle between the Light and Dark and at the center of a prophecy foretelling the triumph of the Light. With well developed characters and a lively storyline Ms. Fleenan has created an enthralling tale filled with action, humour and romance. The ability of the two separate factions (both witches and vampires) to switch sides according to their beliefs is a wonderful addition to the complexity of the story. The shades of gray were what really made this book for me. I love the examinations of "human" nature and our ability to choose our path.
The only issue that I have with this book was that there were a few points towards the end of the book where it felt like the conclusion had been reached and then you started off again. This is the beginning of a saga so of course the information was pertinent and I could not conceive what could have been trimmed out of the story as the details will likely be important as we continue with this saga.
All in all a great read and I am looking forward to the next installment in the series.

I had such high hopes for this book that the final disappointment is what caused the low score.
The plot and concept was excellent, and I even liked the characters. However, the book started out with such a strong heroine who then ultimately had to be submissive to a man to ensure the prophecy was fulfilled which as it turns out was never about her in the first place. Now as a modern woman I simply couldn't get past this. I'm all for dominant alpha men, but to have a character that realises to mature she has to be inferior to her husband is absolutely absurd. I would have been fine with them being equal and even him being dominant, but the constant message of she needs to learn to be submissive in her entirety was ridiculous. The only saving grace is that she was stubborn to the end, but I am scared to read the next book, because her character development seems to be heading towards agreeing with the idea of her needing to be submissive.
Overall, this had the potential to be so much more and this is an example of how one seemingly small detail can override an entire story line...

An interesting introduction to a story idea that has a very epic feel to it. While this book does stumble a bit at times I think, the world it is building is fascinating and the characters are vivid and believable. It introduces you to enough of the larger story to make you want to know more, while giving you a fairly complete story of how Kaitriana and Lorcan come together.

Kaitriana is a very vibrant character almost from the beginning where we see her as a toddler when she meets Lorcan, or he meets her, for the first time. She's brave, bold, daring, highly intelligent, playful, and mischievous. Despite all of her positive characteristics, and her fairly mature attitude toward what she perceives as her duty, she's still very immature in many ways, and her immature, bratty behavior does get on the nerves at times. The reasons why she's still so immature despite her age are obvious though, so her behavior is largely forgivable, but she does persist in it just a little too much past the point where she needed to just grow up already. She generally recognizes when she's screwed up or acted badly, though, and usually takes steps almost immediately to try to rectify any damage she's caused, and in doing so mostly redeems herself. She does display a lot of character growth throughout the novel, which is all to the good, and by the end of it she is truly a very likeable character, as well as a force to be reckoned with.

Lorcan is very much a leader and very much used to being obeyed by those under him. He is not in any way autocratic, though, and seems to rule his coven with a fairly benevolent hand. The fact that he has earned the respect and loyalty not only of his own people, but of those in other covens as well says a lot about him. He is very indulgent and patient with Kat, though there are limits to his patience and he is only willing to put up with so much from her. This leads to him frequently becoming furious with her and dealing rather harshly with her at times, often for justifiable reasons, but not always. It's true that a lot of his anger stems from the fact that he recognizes they are on borrowed time in many ways, that a major confrontation is brewing, and that Kat is going to have to learn to curb her impulsive behavior and immature reactions to things sooner rather than later if they are going to be ready to meet them. Still, at times his angry tirades seem to be prompted more by his own arrogance and alpha-male tendencies that make him feel like it's his right to have Kaitriana submitting to him in all things. At those times, he just comes off looking like an ass, but thankfully those times are relatively few, and the character growth that he goes through in the course of the novel helps him to rise above those instincts.

It should probably be noted that this book moves fairly slowly, and in the majority of it is spent setting the stage for the larger conflicts that are to come in the series. Thus, we get a lot of world building, a lot of introduction of those who will be some of the main players in the drama, and we get a lot of background story that brings us current and helps us understand why things are the way they are between the various factions and groups. All of this is quite interesting, but it does make the story drag in some places and I often found myself wondering when something was going to actually happen. Even the story of Kaitriana and Lorcan's romance which serves as the focal point for all of the world building is handled in a very start and stop manner such that at times I wondered if things were ever going to get any farther between them or if they were going to be stuck in courtship mode for the entire book. It's this dragginess that brought my rating down a touch, though I do understand it in light of this being book one of a probably epic scope series and thus a good bit of world building and such is to be expected.

Overall I liked this book quite a bit, though not quite as much as I wanted to. It has all the elements of an epic fantasy story in the making, but the execution of the concept falls a bit short of spectacular. Still, I think this is one series that is worth keeping an eye on, for I think it really has the potential to become something spectacular once the world building is done and the author can focus solely on her story and her characters. I'd definitely recommend this one to anyone that loves paranormal romance, particularly vampire romances (lots of great sexy fang action in this one!), as well as those who like fantasy and epic fantasy tales. A solid four stars to this one, perhaps pushing toward 4¼.

Another new series gets a firm foundation and is off, dancing to its own beat! Chosen by Heather Fleener, the first book in her Ancients of Light series has the feel of an epic series, good vs evil, light vs dark and a prophesied hero who will rise up to lead the light to victory. Then, it morphs into a slightly quirky love story, blending ancient themes with contemporary ideas and attitudes. Best of all, the two main characters really don’t know much more than we do as we fall into their magical world and watch the prophecy unfold, so, does that make it a mystery, too?
In a world called the Realm are two major forces, the Witch, created from the light to protect humans from the Vampire, who are from the dark. Yet, there are Vampire who fight for the light, until one event causes this alliance to break down. A prophecy states a powerful witch shall unite these forces once again. But how? Will she lead the light to victory or is there someone else, a Vampire, the prophecy speaks of? What secret does this Vampire hold close? Do the Witch and the Vampire share more than love and the hope of the Realm on their shoulders?

Grab something to eat and drink, because once you get involved, you will NOT want to come up for air! Heather Fleener’s main characters, Kaitriana and Lorcan have been separated for centuries, but when Kaitriana finds Lorcan once again, it is not the meeting she hoped for or needed. She is changed, forever and Lorcan cannot believe she is who she says she is, until she tells him of their conversation long ago, one that no one else could know. From there, these two banter, tease, bicker and the over-bearing, ancient-thinking Lorcan has most definitely met his match in this beautiful young woman who uses her confidence, charm and saucy sense of humor as her own special weapons against him! Can dark fantasy have its lighter moments, even in dire times? Thanks to Heather Fleener, the answer is yes as she deftly floats us along on the magic carpet ride that is Chosen.

I received a review copy from the author in exchange for my honest review as part of the Her Ancients of Light Series Review Spotlight, stopping at Tome Tender, November 30, 2013.

This was a great fantasy read and a wonderful introduction in the Realm world. I was left wanting to read Forsaken (book 2) to find out what Kaitriana got herself into next. I loved Kaitriana and all of her flaws, most of all the way she was trying to modernise her speech and adapt to the little sayings, but never seemed to get them right. Heather Fleener is a fantastic author and I love her writing style, such an easy read with a lot of action and intrigue.

Kaitriana is a witch and the book starts when she is just 4 years old. There is a war between the Light and Dark and Kaitriana is aligned with the Light. After a battle Lorcan, the Warrior of Light, a vampire, is heading home and follows two Dark soldiers to see what they’re up to. They have discovered a camp site with parents and a child. He rescues them from the Dark’s and finds the child to be a little witch, Kaitriana and he is enchanted with her cute possessiveness and likeness for spiders.

As the years go by, Lorcan and Kaitriana carry on and now Kaitriana is 12 years old. They are attending a party and Kaitriana is excited to see Lorcan. Kaitriana is going to her parents and two Darks have found their camp again. This time there is nobody to save them and Kaitriana is given the blood of a vampire. While lying there unable to move, she witnesses the murder of her parents. Her Grandfather comes and kills one of the Darks, but one escapes. Her Grandfather takes Kat to a safe place and is put to sleep for over 500 years.

Kat awakes and is hell bent on handing out revenge for the death of her parents. She destroys two Dark strongholds and then ends up at Lorcan’s gate. Once proving she is in fact Kaitriana that has been asleep for over 500 years and not dead, Lorcan takes her into his coven and swears to protect and train her.

As time continues, Kat is training and using her powers, now dubbed the Chosen, she is organising battles and the war with Lorcan; all the while trying to align the witches and the vampires of the Light. With each day Lorcan and Kat grow closer and they must work out what is best for the Realm together.

Chosen is a full on fantasy novel and chock-a-block full of action, intrigue, betrayal, loyalty, love, magic and intense romance. I really enjoyed the introduction into the Realm and the lives of Lorcan and Kaitriana. Kat is such a lovable character and added with the hotness of Lorcan, how could you go wrong. Following the life of Kat and discovering her potential of being the Chosen and how she has to help Lorcan accept his destiny. Definitely recommend to fantasy readers.

It's a 4.5 stars for me. The only reason I'm not rating it 5 stars, it's because I believe the book to be a bit too long. I have no idea what should have been trimmed since the author was amazing at given the readers all pertinent information, and this is a saga really, which usually is long. But as much as I enjoyed the book, at the end I had the "finally" feelings within.

The world has two major forces, the dark and the light. The witches were created from the light and the vampires from the dark. But there are those vampires that defends the light and fights with the witches against the dark force. An ancient misunderstanding created a rift between vampires and witches. A prophecy has Lorcan and Kaitriana as two important keys to united both species(vampires and witches) to fight against the dark.
In this first book of the series the authors introduces the readers to the world of both Lorcan and Kaitriana and their joint effort to save the world. Both characters were developed in depth and it's easy to create a connection with them.

I enjoyed this book immensely and I'm looking forward to be with Lorcan, Kaitriana and their coven and castes on their continuing journey to save the world of the dark.

Chosen was a great introduction to this series. It eased you into the world of the Realms and introduced you to its history of Light vs Dark very nicely. It is a rich world with a lot going on. Witches and Vampires have been warring for centuries - each chosing a side and fighting til death. When the Chosen is prophesied, a witch with unimaginable powers, everyone begins to watch for her - each with their own reasons. I wasn't a big fan of the Chosen, Kaitriana (although I love her name). While I enjoyed her banter and her fun-loving attitude, there were times she carried it too far. Jorcan was a little too serious - he needed to lighten up a bit. Their story was a great romance though - a true opposites attract and love conquers all.

I decided to end this book at chapter 27. Don't get me wrong it's a good book I love the plot but turning a strong willed female into a submissive. I'll pass. I LOVE books about strong willed females there are many books out there about such but few authors can do it right. This was one done right. I just rather not witness a female who is strong, can fight as her mates equal, smart, not perfect, and has a way with words (because I love word play!) be reduced to a yes-man or doormat. I'm not dropping the series though.

Excellent book. I have some issues with the book, but overall it was very enjoyable.
Kat has a great personality, but when she should have put up more of a fight with Lorcan (I think) she gives in too quickly.
I loved the detail of the time, surroundings and the character development. I wish the next book continued on with Kat and Lorcan's story, but it doesn't seem like it does. :(

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read this book but I just read it again and have decided to sit down and review.
This is almost a legends story, a story of old, a tale from the past...I love the way it was written, the characters that were created and the age old battle between good and evil or in this case, the light and the dark. Vampires and witches are our main characters in this fantastic story. Kaitriana and Lorcan are our leads who we will fall in love with within the first few chapters. The concept is amazing. You have power, magic, laughter, sass, heat and enjoyable battles. It pretty much has everything you could want in a paranormal. I loved it and I’m getting ready to open the pages of the next book.

I hated Lorcan. He wasn't dominant he was abusive. He supposedly waited thousands of years for his mate and when he gets her he physically and emotionally abuses her through out the whole book. He hurt her terribly and then laughed about it. He was even mean in the Epilogue. And there is supposed to be 13 of these books. No!

More enjoyable than I anticipated

I picked it up and set it down 7 or 8 times before I made myself read the first chapter. After that I was hooked. A bit confused about the origin story.

Everyone likes a little intimacy but 2 chapters several times was a bit much to me.

Definitely worth the read!

Chosen launches a sprawling paranormal epic rooted in ancient prophecy, divine conflict, and forbidden alliances. Kaitriana, a gifted witch born to lead the forces of Light, faces betrayal from her own faction, adding emotional depth to the high-stakes fantasy. Lorcan, a vampire warlord scarred by his mother’s treachery, provides a compelling, conflicted counterpart. The blend of prophecy, magic, and star-crossed romance creates a richly textured world with a layered mythos. This book is an immersive start for readers who love complex world-building and slow-burn supernatural alliances.

Oh wow, I totally loved this book!
The world it is all set in, The Realm, is so well crafted and detailed. There are two sides, the light and the dark. The Light, originally just the witches, are created to help protect humans from the Dark- originally the Vampires. Eventually, some vampires became part of the light, and were united with the witches in fighting the dark, until a betrayal created a rift between the vampires and witches.
A prophecy is foretold of a female witch who will have powers from the 7 castes, and will be the Chosen; she will unite the species and bring an end to the dark. Step forward, Kat! Kat is a super powerful witch and the Chosen. With Lorcan, the Warrior of Light vampire at her side they can fulfil the prophecy.
I thought Kat was great, she was spirited and mischievous. She has a playful sense of humour that lends amusement to this richly woven saga. She was sassy, without being irritatingly so. Her assurance in the strength of her powers is great, my favourite quote comes from a point where she’s seriously angry with two men who won’t listen to her properly for different reasons: ‘I am amazing and you arrogant asses are too feeble minded to realize it!’ That had me laughing, especially in the context of the book.
Lorcan is awesome; he’s sinfully handsome, a bit arrogant (he is the Warrior of Light after all), totally kick-ass and a powerful Vampire- with a witch mother. He can be a bit domineering at times, but I think it can only be expected when you consider that he was born in a time when men were the top dogs.
Actually it’s one of the things I loved about this book, it’s set in modern times but has a historical feel to it because the characters are very old. This was a great blend for me.
Lorcan and Kat are perfect for each other, and irresistibly drawn to one another. She adds a levity to the story and to Lorcan’s life. Whilst he reigns her in when she needs to be more cautious, and guides her in her new life.
The build up of the chemistry between the two was very well done, it was a nice slow build up –they didn’t just dive into bed!
The battled between light and dark, and the changes occurring in the realm because of the prophecy play a key part in the story, and the battle scenes have plenty of tension and details!

This has the feel of an epic saga, with a passionate romance woven through. I can’t wait to read Forsaken (book 2) and find out what will happen next in the Realm!

I received a copy of the e-book for an honest review.

The first third of this book I loved everything... the storyline, the world, the head strong four-year-old heroine, the way the author allows you to enter both main character's heads at once and how the story flows. On a side note, I want to thank the author for not over describing places which is a pet peeve of mine when reading. I want the meat of the story, not the gravy. The first night, I stayed up to 3 AM because I couldn't put the book down.

The second third, I enjoyed due to the romance between the sassy & stubborn heroine and a semi-arrogant male who wants her to restrain her bluntness and bullheadness to fit the docile role deemed appropriate in his society... gag me.

I will do anything for love but I won't do that...oh no...no I won't do that. But, the back and forth chemistry between these two made me laugh.

The last third...well...I was disappointed. I felt like the book became more about the erotic romance and less about the plot. The romance was less intense than Fifty Shades of Grey, but way more descriptive than Twilight ever dared to get into. I would say the description of vampire "relations" are most similar to the Sookie Stackhouse series but more romantic. I felt there was three or more chapters about what was going on behind closed doors... I got the point...she can't get enough of him...let's move on. However, only chapter about the big battle at the end and this girl right here (pointing to myself) likes her battle scenes.

I do hope the author continues to develop the plot since I am extremely disappointed with Kat's discovery about her role in the prophecy.

The next book, Forsaken is written from two different characters' prospectives - a fire Caste witch, Ella and a dark vampire, Nicholas (you meet him at the end of book 1) - so I am excited to learn more about the Realm's history and characters in this 13 book series.

Ever thought that Witch and Vampires can get along? Well, they kind of always want to kill each other, you can definitely see that in Melissa Darnell’s Clann Series. And well you can see it here too. So if you are a fan of Vampires, Witches and that kind of staff grab your copy now and get lost in a new world set by Heather Fleener.

Join Kaitriana and Lorcan in their journey of self-discovery, battles with Dark and betrayal from the most unexpected people. Kaitriana is a Witch and she is Chosen. We see her first as a child and afterwards as a grown woman. I really liked her, but only her stubbornness. She is really very stubborn and feisty. And if she doesn’t like something she says it. The thing is I really didn’t know what feelings I have her. Sometimes I wanted to throttle her and sometimes to hug and all because of the same thing. But after betrayal from her own she is transformed into a hybrid. She is both full Vampire and Witch. And now it is her time and place to make Lorcan see his true self and help him lead the Light to the victory. Will she be able to do it? To fulfill her destiny and to be with the one she loves? Grab all three books now to find out.

I will truly be honest and say that the book lost one leave just because of the beginning. I was really confused thought the book in the beginning. I couldn’t tell who was who. And what the hell was going on. Maybe it was just me. And I even wanted to put it down. But knowing that I was participating in tour kept me reading further. Somewhere in the middle I got really interested and that was the changing moment. The other thing is that, while I do have an amazing imagination and can always picture what the author is telling me, I couldn’t imagine the Realm. The description was a little bit poor. But when I finished the book I knew I wanted to read other two.

Grab your copies now to find out new world written by Heather Fleener. And for those who are interested Tomorrow will be posted second book review, so don’t miss it. Happy Reading! Hope I got you attention and you’ll consider reading the book. Don’t forget to leave comments!!!  

My Review
Ultimatly this is a entertaining read. The love story pulls at a readers heart strings. And the action involved was very interestiong. The fantasy and world building was intense.

Liked:
Chosen has the feel of an epic fantasy novle with love and sex.

Kaitriana is a fisty and interseting character. I could totally picture her shoping on 5th Avenue. A real girls girl she is the type of person a reader can relate to.

While Lorcan is the hot vampire that will sweep you off your feet. He was strong and manely and new what his strenths were, and of course comes to the realization at the end what his weaknesses are and what he is willing to give in order for love to prevail.

Disliked:
Being an author myself I take critisism personally but fervently try to take it as a learning experence and I hope that is what readers will think with this critque.

The grammer issues sometimes took me out of the story and I had to go over sentences a couple of times because of them. However, that being said it wasn't enough to make me want to put the book down. One great thing about the book was the epic fantasy feel, the author built a world that was so interesting and had a lot of depth. However, at times it was complicated and took away from the ultimate story line. There were several unresolved plot lines that left me hanging.

Overall
Please take into consideration some of my issue's and if those are show stoppers for you then this isn't a read for you. Overall this is a great start to a series and I will read more from this author.

??Recommend??
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a hot fantasy novel. However, because of the sex scenes I wouldn't recommend this for younger readers.

Rating:
I am giving Chosen by Heather Fleener 3.5 out of 5 stars

I have only had time to read the first book so far but I am really enjoying the series! Heather Fleener has a unique storytelling and an incredible sense of what her audience wants to read. the magic, romance and action all make this a series a must read!

She is Chosen...
Kaitriana’s a powerful and foretold about witch with powers beyond those of others. She comes from an ancient and powerful race of people whose betrayal destroys her and leaves her and the realm in a downward spiral.

He is the Key...
Lorcan is a prince among his people, and his hatred of the magical immortals are well known. His mother, the Queen's betrayal left him cold and well used and the secret he carries a burden on his heart.

Together they are the Prophecy...
A very old prophecy from the time of the Ancients says that only two in all of creation can bring peace to the Realm. When Kaitriana asks him for his protection, Lorcan must do his duty and protect her. Together they must save the realm or die trying.

Heather Fleener did an awesome job on this series! I loved the characters and the storyline and I can't wait to read more!

If you haven't Read this series yet make sure to TBR it Today!

The Ancients of Light series was one that I fell in love with from book 1. Chosen, made for quite the introduction to Kaitriana, Lorcan, the world of Realm, and the wonderful cast of supporting characters that help to flesh out the story that heralds the beginning of an absolutely fabulous series.

Readers are allowed to grow up with Kat in this first read, as she is but a wee thing when first we me her and she meets Lorcan. This is when both he and she stake their claims on each other, and in the hearts of readers.

The surprise come when readers find out how childhood claims come to pass in very adult ways after Kat has been allowed to mature some 500 years, and is once again reunited with her warrior vamp.

This is where things really start to get interesting...and a little frustrating for me and every other forward thinking female reading this book. Lorcan becomes sexier, but decidedly more possessive as the pages turn.
This of course leads to Kat having to show him, and every nay sayer in the story who's boss in a very kick ass fashion.

This was the only 4 star rating of the three books. It would have been a five, but for its length...about 100 pages too long...and Lorcan, who only became truly great near the end.
Rating was 4.5

If you like the Kings series by Heather Walden or the Carpathian books by Christine Feehan, you'll like this series ... it along the same line. It was an easy read, but I did find myself wishing it were done. Too much of the story was spent in Lorcan bedroom (it not quite as graphic as the two series mentioned), but you get the drift. The high tension moments were too few, and too quickly resolved. Lorcan can across, hard to like at times, very draconian much of the time ... but some people like that overbearing Alpha character. He just seems a little over the top. Kaitiana was likeable, but at times grated on me, being impetuous and immature. I think that was the authors goal, to show how these two very different personalities grow and form a powerful partnership.
I'm going to read the next in the series, then make a decision as to whether to continue with the series (its supposed to be 13 books, with three out at this time). I like Fleener's writing, so I want to see where the story goes.

I very much enjoyed reading this book. Kaitriana was easy to love with her whimsical spirit and humor. The storyline was very well thought out and complete. Ms. Fleener is VERY detailed in her writing, which I know some can find too much (though I enjoyed it). Her love scenes were written very well also - descriptive without sounding like a porn. My only complaint was that Lorcan (the main male character) was not only possessive (which I very much like) he was, at times, overbearingly controlling. I can't decide if it was totally necessary or not - what I think really ticked me off was when her grandfather started siding with Lorcan for something I didn't feel she really did maliciously. With that said, his controlling does lend to the fact that he is a ruler. He did seem to lighten up a bit at the end, so I can't be too upset. I will be reading the second book, that is fore sure!

I really really liked this story. I especially liked the vampire/with love, mating and the hole damn thing. LOL. At first I had a hard time understanding the beginning but the more I read the story the more I was understanding what was going on in the story and felt better about it. The main characters where also great I really liked Lorcan his Alpha male vampire who is also in love with Kaitriana the have and always were meant to be mated. This is one story that you don't want to miss. The Chosen cover is really great I really felt that it ties into the story very well. The story is very very well written. In the End I feel as if I didn't get enough of Lorcan and Kaitriana. On to the next story.

I received this story for free for an honest review.
