Amid growing threats to their high-profile family, studio boss Dex Hunter takes custody of his little brother—and tries to put his routine as a Hollywood player on hold. Too bad his brother's new nanny, Shelby Scott, is so easy on the eyes! Soon Dex will do anything to keep Shelby by his side. But when it comes to men, Shelby made a pretty big mistake back home, one that she isn't about to repeat. Now Dex needs to prove he's ready to settle down if he wants to heat things up.
Robyn received a book from her big sister and immediately fell in love with Cinderella. Sprinklings of magic, deepest wishes come true - she was hooked! Picture books with glass slippers later gave way to romance novels. When she was older, she wanted to write one.
However, in junior high, Robyn hit a stumbling block - a disheartening grade of one out of ten for a book review. Confused and hurt, she asked her hundred-and-thirty-year-old English teacher why the low mark? The wizened schoolmarm sniffed, "You obviously had a senior do it for you." Thankfully Robyn's business teacher was a honey.
Following a fifteen-year career behind the scenes in television, Robyn knew the time was right to pursue her dream of becoming a published author. Late in 2004, she received a phone call from a London editor. She'd submitted a manuscript to the Sweet line, which were featuring lighter, sexier stories to be released under the Tango banner. The editor was very interested in her story, but for a brand new line.
Robyn didn't stop smiling for a week, but sometime later learned her revised manuscript hadn't hit the mark. Then she received another call and another request for revisions to a second manuscript! That didn't sell either. On a third manuscript she received a very long, very detail email, asking for, what would turn out to be, a complete rewrite. Having torn out most of her hair, but with 13 contest finals in 2006 (including winning the Golden Pen and Where the Magic Begins), she finished the rewrite then contacted a New York agent. That wonderful agent took her on, and Robyn sold in a matter of weeks, first to Silhouette Desire, then Modern Heat (Sexy Sensation/Presents) with a two book deal! She is currently writing manuscript number fourteen.
Robyn lives with her own modern-day hero on Australia's Sunshine Coast with their three little princesses, as well as two poodles and a cat called Tinkie. She has majors in English literature and psychology, and loves new shoes, worn jeans, visits to the theatre and lunches at picturesque Moffat Beach with her writer friends.
Good book. Dex needs a nanny for his little brother who is coming to visit. He settles on Shelby who is great with kids, but he is also attracted to. Shelby is down on men after a bad experience at home, but she's looking forward to taking care of Tate. Dex is dealing with threats of blackmail and other attacks and wants everyone to be safe.
Dex is basically a nice guy. I really like his closeness with his family and the obvious love he has for his little brother. He wants what is best for his brother and when he meets Shelby discovers that she is great with kids. He is also attracted to her but agrees with her decision to keep things professional between them. When threats start happening he sends his brother to stay with his sister for a few days until he can get a handle on things. Even without his brother Dex wants to keep Shelby close. He likes the way she makes him feel. He also admires her strength of character even as it sometimes frustrates him. I really liked the way he stood up for her against her ex when they visited her hometown. He didn't realize how much he had come to care for her until she left him over a difference in the way they saw the threats against him.
Shelby had fled to LA after what she saw as making a fool of herself back home. She was hesitant to accept Dex's offer of employment because of his reputation as a player. She made it clear to him that, in spite of their attraction, it was hands off. It wasn't long before she discovered that he wasn't as bad as she had thought and that there was a lot about him she could like. She still didn't want to give in to the attraction but it got pretty hard to resist. She liked having Dex and Tate visit her hometown with her as they got to know each other better. She didn't like the way he was dealing with the threats against him and had no trouble telling him so. As she realized that she had fallen in love with him, she felt there was so future because of their lifestyles.
There wasn't really any progress on the question of who is making the threats on their father, but I enjoyed Dex's story. I also liked seeing Cole again and seeing how his comments on his new life have an effect of Dex.
2nd in a series(Losing Control was 1st). This was a nice romance with instant attraction. Dex the hero is a rich Hollywood studio owner who likes to live in the fast lane. However, that changes quickly when he meets our crossed in love, small town Oklahoma girl with movie star looks. She is not a starlet wanna be and just needed to leave her small town to escape being betrayed in love by her fiancé and best friend. She wants to be a nanny as she loves children. Our H happens to need a nanny for his baby brother who is visiting LA from The Land Down Under. (the reason for the visit is due to a subplot started in the first book, but don’t worry it is not the main focus of our story). The h has made it clear that she is not down with any Tom foolery from our H and that her capacity in his life is strictly professional, of course we don’t even make it halfway through the book before that is thrown out the window!
Hero- Sexy, fun, has the h’s back and meets her Dad after knowing her a few weeks(methinks the gentleman doth protest commitment too much🤔)✅
Heroine- To quote Jerry Hall(an independent strong fashion model from Texas and mother of some of Mick Jaggers children)... My mother said it was simple to keep a man. You must be a maid in the living room, a cook in the kitchen and a whore in the bedroom. I said I’d hire the other two and take care of the bedroom bit. Our heroine decides to do all 3 by herself...maybe because she is an Oklahoman??.....✅
Betrayal by a friend✅✅In a way both our main characters were...
Ex Fiancé...✅Good riddance!!!
HEA- ✅This was over the top super romantic only happens in movies ending! (I think, I am not sure as I do not travel in the same circles as our Hero maybe endings like this do really happen)
Here is what you won’t find in this book:
An evil hellbent other woman planting her bodacious Tatas and innuendos all over the place
Evil family members thwarting our happy couple by instigating misunderstandings and trying to bribe the lover away
Secret babies and unplanned pregnancies due to torn condoms and a bout of illness ..definitely not! We make a point of “wrapping” that up. Although condoms are only 98% effective so hopefully our heroine was doing her part as well.....because.....
She is not a virgin! No virgins over 20 in this book. However, I do not believe our heroine was the town tramp in her little town. She does seem to know her way around our hero’s finer points....
Temptation on His Terms by Robyn Grady is a deeply romantic story with an edge of danger added in. Readers will be enticed to turn the pages to find out what happens next. Robyn Grady does a stellar job of keeping you glued to your seat.
Temptation On His Terms by Robyn Grady was a good book. Dex needs to take care of his little brother because his dad's life was threaten. He hires Shelby to be the nanny. Things have happened in both there past that has to be dealt with. Was a page turner. A good read.
