4 Lemon Cupcakes & Fighters Stars

A wicked proposition…
A sensual possession…
A dark obsession...

Love will always find a way. Through darkness, pain and fears. No matter how much unworthy of it you feel. It will blindside you and make every dream come true. Love is not about winning the fight. It's about keeping fighting when your body is too weak to go on. Is about turning your back to the past and embrace the future. And it's about protecting what is yours, no matter the cost.

description

Sloane and Kat, decided on a no strings affair. But passion turned to possession and then to one-of-a-time love. They chose to stay together and fight each other's demons but can they handle Kat's family? Murderous villains with hidden agendas? The heartbreak of a loss? How they will overcome all these obstacles?

description

Nothing earth-shattering, just two people in love and with a lot of scars. Lots of what if's and why not's, drama and walking on eggshells but I liked it....

Emotional and sweet, sexy and just the right amount of naughty, this book concludes the highly enjoying Plus One Chronicles. A series about fighters in life and in the ring, family ties and unexpected twists of fate that they bring us to our knees only to stand again stronger and in the end... WINNERS!

4.5 STars

I have been waiting for this book for a long time it seems. After getting to know Kat and Sloan in The Proposition, I just could not get enough of them. Though their relationship has been a constant, everything else around them has been at chaos. But the question is, will they be strong enough to survive it?

This is what I like about reading trilogies; there is a sense of completion of the whole journey the protagonists go through. And I, as a reader witness every bit of it. But in this last installment, it was more of Sloane’s final journey and not so much Kat’s (IMO). Sloane has so much going on in that head of his that in the end, I questioned his decision. Torn between his duties to his mentor, love for Laura and his goal to kill just over consumes him. I was almost annoyed just because there was a choice. Between love and anything else, there should be no choice. Notice how I said “almost” annoyed? How can I be annoyed with him for too long though? He is so damn hot, and when he spoils Kat, it just wow’s me. I love an alpha that spoils his love. Kat on the other hand, is Sloane’s constant. She loved him and accepted him for who he is. Not quite a martyr, but simply just loved him for whom he is. It takes a good woman to deal with a man like Sloane and I bow to her for simply accepting all of him. Kat also gets a chance for her own revenge on the man truly responsible from her attack. Though she has broken out of her shell, she really gets to prove her selfworth. Possibly even make ammends with her parents. It was kinda cool, to see Sloane step back and let her handle it on her own. I think Ms. Sloane did great by pairing with this couple.

Though this is not my utmost fave of the trilogy, it is just as good as the rest. Ms. Lyon did a fabulous job with this series. All the books in this series are complete with good romance, suspense and very steamy scenes. I am very impressed with this author , and I am excited to read more of her work.

5 punch-tastic ending stars after!!!! LOVED IT!

This story had me :

AND.....

In this final story, Sloane's fight is all set. Kat's memories on her attack is back. Sloane is in an all out protective mode. Danger and mystery surrounds them. Kat supporting Sloane despite her needs to save him too like he did her. I'm loving Kat more in this series. She stayed and she fought. And Sloane, did not disappoint!

Satisfied and happy. Definitely swoon worthy!

This was a great conclusion to 'The Plus One Chronicles'. Every question I had was answered and every lingering secret was exposed. Dangerous plans come to fruition. Tensions and passions climb to new highs. With the truth finally out, Kat and Sloane can finally get their happily ever after! It was straightforward, sweet and heartwarming.

I really like this trilogy.
From the book to the book it was better and better, I think this last book was the best.
Kat is a woman with character. Wounded in body and soul, but thanks to Sloane finds the strength to overcome their weaknesses and dreams come true. Sloane is a man from a dream: not only strong and rich, but puts the welfare of his friends in the first place, helping them to achieve their goals, not looking at the cost. I liked him, from his first meeting with Kat. Plan plus-one from the beginning of their relationship could not come true. There were to many emotions in them, needing to be together.
I was expecting an erotic book, and I got a love story.

I've laughed, I've cried and pretty much felt every emotion in-between reading this series.

I love Sloane Michaels, I love Kat Thane, there isn't a character in these 3 books that isn't well written, likeable and totally integral to the story as a whole.

Hoping that Jennifer releases all 3 books as one hardcopy at some point as I would definately buy them for keeps. Even though it's not really possible, I think I may have worn out my e-books of this series out, I have re-read them that many times!

I am sad to say goodbye to them, but I know I'll be back time and time again.

*whispering* Sloane is STILL my book boyfriend !!

OBSESSION is the third and final instalment in Jennifer Lyon’s contemporary romance Plus One Chronicles trilogy focusing on bakery owner Kat Thayne and MMA Billionaire Sloane Michaels.

Obsession furthers the relationship between Kat and Sloane, but a relationship that balances between love and revenge. With Sloane preparing for an upcoming fight, Kat knows that winning isn’t the ultimate aim-but revenge for a loss that has broken Sloane’s heart. If Sloane continues on his current path, Kat will lose Sloane in more ways than one.

There are three interconnected storylines throughout Obsession and each will push Sloane and Kat into a struggle between right and wrong; life and death. As mentor to several street kids, Sloane will struggle with the belief that he has failed not one but them all. This is a story of one man’s obsession about avenging the past and about the woman to whom he has lost his heart.

The reader is pulled into a story that will break your heart. We watch as one man struggles to stay alive long enough to watch Sloane’s final fight and another man who struggles with the realization that he is unable to save everyone. But his biggest fear is not being able to save the woman with whom he has fallen in love.

Jennifer Lyon has written a series that will be remembered for the heart breaking sorrow about a man who is determined to avenge the death of his sister but also about a man who believes he is not worthy of one woman’s love. Sloane Michaels will find a place in your soul, that was once empty and waiting to be filled, and he is the man who has the ability to overcome the pain of loss and face his demons head on.

Obsession is the final storyline and with it comes the end of the trilogy. There is a finality to the story and one that will be acceptable to everyone but I am hoping that Jennifer (begs Jennifer) will write a novella or two that will re-visit Sloane and Kat as they begin their new life together. We get our happily ever after but there is always room for happily ever after-plus one.

The trilogy ends - overall I liked the romance and the relationship the hero and heroine had.

I think this book and book 2 could have been one book and I would have been fine with that.

Also - the build up to the main villain guy didn't pay off so well for me.

Disappointed a bit with how that and the stuff with David played out.

But I did enjoy this couple together. Well done rich hero

Love, love, loved it.... I'm writing a review for the three books all together....

I really enjoy reading this series, it was full of surprises and heartbreaking moments.... A possessive, hot, handsome, smart, vendictive, alpha male, uuff my prince charming (not as Sloane's mother :p)!!

The characters were amazing, Kat was such a strong woman, with a troubled and scarred past.... I loved how she let Sloane help her with her confidence and self esteem, it was so wonderful to read the interaction between this two characters.... Slaone oohh wow, what can I say?, just perfect, I was so touch for his desire for vengeance, it made my heart ache, to see him suffer like that and to see how he fell in love with Kat just took my breath away!
I loved Sherry, John, Ethan and Drake.... Oh my Drake (it broke my heart and when Kat read his letter damn it, I cried)

I totally recommend you all to read this series... It will keep you hooked!!

Fav Quotes:

“What kind of emergency requires a brownie?”
She lifted one hand in a careless gesture. “Oh the usual. Breakups. In-laws arriving unexpectedly. The always popular dealing-with-the-jerk-boss. Running out of wine. And the classic…” She trailed off, telling herself not to do it. To shut up.
Challenge sparked in his eyes. “Come on, don’t be shy. I must know the classic emergency that requires a brownie.”
Don’t say it. But her mouth was already moving. “P.M.S. or to the uninformed, Pushy Male Syndrome.”

“You’re doing it again, aren’t you?”
She faced him. “Comforting you? Being your friend? Yeah.”
He twined his fingers with hers. “You keep doing shit like this and I might not be able to let you go. Ever.”

Sloane and Kat....❤️❤️

“While we’re together, you’re mine. I protect what’s mine”

You’re my fighter.”

“I can’t breathe unless I know there’s someone looking out for you when I’m not there.”

“You marked me, baby. I’m yours.”

“You’re a survivor. My beautiful survivor.”

“You’re my goddamned everything. And anyone who tells you differently is a pathetic fool.”

“I love you, Kat. I didn’t know love like this was real until you.”

“This is us. You hurt, you come to me. I hurt, I go to you”

“You come first, Kitten. Every damn time.”

Sloane... ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Jennifer Lyon for this wonderful series!! :)

Perfect ending to a great series. LOVED this. We've come to far with Sloane and Kat, and this one was just fantastic.
We finally get to the bottom of the things that have been driving me nuts! We get to see a bit more of some great side characters, John, Kellan, Ethan, and Drake...o Drake! How I died for him over and over again!
This book definitely upped the steam factor
"I'm going to kiss and mark your nipples, move down your belly, then spread your thighs to kiss your pussy with slow, penetrating strokes. I won't stop no matter how many times you come, or how many times you scream, until I have your taste memorized and I'm sure you're branded by the feel of my mouth on you. Then I'll put my cock exactly where I belong, buried inside you. So deep you'll know you're mine."
right?! Jeesh!
"Only the fact that you're sore is keeping me from ripping those shorts off you and fucking you so hard, you'll hear ringing in your ears."
I know!
But more than just being incredibly HOT, they are so...perfect together.
"What we have is not civilized. It's raw, real and honest. You're my baker girl who asked me to spank her ass...We don't hold back from each other. Ever."
Sloane is struggling. Struggling with what's happening to Drake. Struggling with his feelings for Kat and the decision he's made regarding Lee Foster. Things keep popping up, creating more emotions, more stress. I think the author totally nailed the feelings and the guilt and the hurt and anger. Parts of this were so hard to read.
Kat feels unworthy of Sloane, she watches him moving so quickly, beautifully and begins to let some insecurities creep up.
Sloane wants to be the man Kat thinks he is, but doesn't think he can. But we know better, we see through how he feels about Kat, his interactions with Ethan and Drake just what kind of man he really is.
"Drake had taken an angry, grieving boy and shaped him into a man. Sloane struggled to tell him what that meant to him. 'You're the man I hope to be.'
Drake laid his hand on Sloane's arm. 'You're the son I chose.'"
Just loved this story, the mystery party and the vengeance and all of that was good, but the emotions behind these characters were just...spot on. LOVED it!

In this final installation of Jennifer Lyon’s Plus One Chronicles we get the answers we’ve been waiting for and an ending so bitter sweet you’ll be crying both tears of happiness and tears of sadness. These two characters couldn’t have had a better ending!

I’m going to keep this short and sweet. I freaking LOVED these books! Kat and Sloane are two of my very favorite characters ever and it’s so sad to have their story end but this ending was really great so that makes up for it. I really really loved that Kat and Sloane both were able to find their happy ending and though it was sad about Drake, it was meant to be. I was afraid finding out what really happened with Kat and how Sloane would handle that final big show down would be anticlimactic but it wasn’t at all. In fact I was on the edge of my seat for those last few chapters!

When this series began I thought I was going to dislike it because I really don’t like serial romance’s like this with the one story broken into multiple installations because I just don’t like to wait. But even with what felt like forever to wait for this final book I still loved it and that wait was definitely worth it! This series is not to be missed so if you haven’t yet read the Proposition or Possession, you must go get them now! All three of these books are worth the money and the time! You will not be disappointed!

REVIEW:
Loved It! I have been impatiently waiting for Obsession to read the conclusion of Sloane and Kat's story and I was left happy and satisfied after finishing the final book in this trilogy. I absolutely loved this trilogy! From the first book to the last we've seen Kat grow stronger and heal from her attack with the the training and support Sloane has given her. I loved that Sloane taught her to protect herself instead of just relying on someone else to protect her. We've also seen Sloane battle with his own past and loss and that all comes to a final decision in this book. Sloane and Kat's passion and love grow binding them together throughout their story. Jennifer Lyon really made me feel for and love these characters. Heart-wrenching, emotional, suspenseful and filled with danger and passion. This trilogy is incredible! Obsession is the perfect ending for The Plus One Chronicles.

You can see the following review also here: http://loveandlivetoread.wordpress.co...

This novella is the conclusion of the trilogy and it’s as good as the previous two. The two main characters have been through a lot in their lives and it’s time to be happy.

Kat is starting to fulfill her dream and she’s taking back her life. She came to terms with the relationship she has with her parents and she realized that many people loved her for what she truly is.

Sloane realized that there are things more important than vengeance and that the love of a woman is enough to change a man’s plan.

I really liked the plot in this novella, because it kept my interest from the start until the very last page. I laughed and I cried while reading it and I enjoyed it very much! It’s a very nice series novella and I recommend it to all the fans of this genre!

I guess I'm the only one who didn't like this one. I should have liked this one, as it centered around an emotionally challenged billionaire that bore a striking resemblance to Jason Momoa.

Oh god, yes!

But after the first book in the trilogy went so well, everything started to fall apart. I didn't find their conflict all that believable. I found myself wanting to slap some sense into Kat on more than one occasion. And by the time book three rolled around, Sloane was talking like someone out of a Lifetime movie. Where oh where did my sexy alpha go? I started skimming the pages most likely to give me The Diabeetus. Then I came to this gem of a line, and it was game over:

"You're here for a private lesson in the dirty sexy dance, correct?"

Oh god, no! No no no I am not.

Obsession…..The grand finale in the Plus One Chronicles…absolutely blew me away!

I cannot say too much because I don’t want any spoilers leaking into this review. Just know that if I could give this book ten stars, I would!

It is explosive, thrilling, erotic, and a great ending to a dynamic series. I could not put the book down. The chemistry and sex scenes are through the roof. The “bedroom” scenes are sizzling. I was fanning myself as I devoured this book. This couple steams the pages.

Add suspense, betrayal, murder to the mix and the book is even more dynamic.

The conclusion will blow the readers away.

Job well done! I highly recommend this series!

3.75 stars. This 3rd book was kind of slow at the beginning. The details seemed stretched out to fit 3 books. I did like the story and the writing. I really like Sloane and Kat's relationship. If it was trimmed up a bit, the author & editors could fit it into one book. There seemed to be a couple of opportunities to end the story, but then it went on again. I'm glad that I stuck with it. Kat and Sloan had a lot of sexual chemistry. Sloane only has to look at Kat! I'm glad that I read this series. I understand that she writes under another name Jennifer Apodaca. I will have to check on her books under that author name.

Since I came late to this series I was fortunate to be able to read all three books back to back over a 2 day time frame, I think not having to wait between books added to my overall enjoyment of the trilogy.

Loved the series - a well crafted finale to a romantic, satisfying, and sexy story with no unresolved story lines. I'm very happy to have discovered the first book as a free read, and look forward to other books from the author. A four star read for me that brought tears to my eyes but left me thinking I was so glad I shared this time with Sloan & Kat.

ABSOLUTELY LOVED all 3 books! They were amazing, sexy, edgy, sweet and very, very HOT. Loved Sloan, he's your typical hot, caveman type hero but he has a vulnerability which is makes this believable. Kat is beautiful and tough and taught Sloan how to love. Reading him falling in love w/ her was wonderful. I actually cried the at the last chapter of the 3rd book, which I rarely do.
Great books!

The Plus One Chronicles is a trilogy consisting of The Proposition, Possession and Obsession. Short version: I *loved* them.

Overall Rating: 5 stars- Screw sleep! I’ll let the kids watch TV and eat hot dogs tomorrow.

Now, Megan didn't love them as much as I did. She didn't like the heroine's weakness. I call that POPPYCOCK! Yes, Kat does start out meek and mousy, but the point of the trilogy is for her to find her strength - both inner and outer. I very much enjoyed her growth through the trilogy.
"Do you have a particular confection for the man suffering cruel rejection from a pretty baker?"

I'm going to press pause on our characters for a minute and come back to Sloane. (mmm... Sloane...) Let's talk about the plot and writing. Victim of a crime with PTSD, former MMA fighter made good. Doesn't sound ground-breaking, I know. But I loved the tale of redemption here. And the way that Jennifer Lyon weaves the passion with very flawed characters just gripped me intensely. I don't just mean the smut (which is delicious!) but just the passion between the characters. Yes, they start out not planning to love each other, but neither of them fight it and I found that refreshing as well.
"Too late. We both know this is more."

Okay, now onto Sloane. (If only I could be onSloane...) If I could build the perfect man, he would look and act like Sloan Michaels. Yes, he's rich and handsome - it's romance. But it's not that. I *LOVE* the way he treats Kat. He wants to protect her but not coddle her. He wants to build her up and watch her soar. I LOVE that. I love a great caveman moment where a great hero beats the crap of a bad guy, but if the heroine wants to do the ass-kicking herself? I want him to enjoy the show, give her a high five and then take her home for a celebratory romp. And that is why I love Sloane.
"FYI, champ, you're an asshole."

The Plus One Chronicles felt like the epitome of the ending of Pretty Woman to me. After he rescues her, what does she do? She rescues him right back. I LOVED IT.
"You're doing it again, aren't you?"
She faced him. "Comforting you? Being your friend? Yeah."
He twined his fingers with hers. "You keep doing shit like this and I might not be able to let you go. Ever."

Smut Factor: 5 stars- Had to wake my husband at 2am to quench my “need.”
Character likability:
5 stars- He’s my book boyfriend and I want to BE her.
Storytelling: 5 stars- I wake up thinking this really happened.
Writing and editing quality:
5 stars - Excellent!

Due to the length of the trilogy and my being fortunate enough to read them all at once, this seems more like a full length book to me and I think it best to rate it as such.

Great read. It has got a bit of everything, yet the mix is right enough to make it a stella read.

The love between these two are very credible. It definitely was more of an insta lust in the beginning but as the protagonists grew closer due to various life altering events happening during that time, we see a very functional and real relationship of two dysfunctional people. Both are broken in his or her own way, but together they can weather any storm together. This is a couple that is blatantly honest with each other, not only are they comfortable enough to share their deepest thought and desires, they also share their moments of weakness, pain and happiness. Each stands ready to support, love, protect and comfort each other. They also know to give other space when necessary, and to give each other the freedom to make their own choices, trusting each other enough to be there to offer love and support of whatever decision is made.

Love is never having to say you are sorry, love is also letting the person you love be secure enough to spread their wings and fly high, yet be there to catch them or pick them up when they fall.

Initially, I didn't connect well with this couple in the earlier segments, but the last one totally did its job in making this book for me.

The love scenes are interesting, a bit kinky, all very sexy, and we can see as the relationship progesses for ourselves that it is way more than just physical for these two.

I also love the supporting characters, even the not so nice ones. Even though we do not actually see most of them a lot, they feel very real and multidimensional to me. Each has his or her own way of thinking, might be miscontrued and different from ours, might have been totally wrong to us, but they are human beings and hence not perfect.

The plotlines that has been diddling around all along came to a head in the latter part of the book and both the suspense and twists are so engagingly done that they totally have me hooked. They also help strengthen the bond between the protagonists and it seems a lot more meaningful than the usual H saves the day reason for being there. They help us see the emotional struggle our characters have and how their overcoming these help their relationship along on the emotional level.

All in all, I have great fun reading this. Would prefer this not being in installments with cliffhangers though I do think this is the popular way to sell more books nowadays and some readers actually like reading the same couple over and over, plus author can publish parts of it before the full book is out. I have this quirky thing about reading the same couple's sequel, and that is avoiding them, I hate hea that turns out not to be hea and that totally ruin things for me, subconsciously worrying if things will hit the fan even after their umpteen time's hea. I totally don't mind here as the couple didn't even seem to have a hfn endings in the first two books, so with so many things still up in the air and the books so short, I am happy to tackle them all as 1 full book.

Why oh why did it take me so long to read this book? Obsession is the 3rd book in The Plus One Chronicles by Jennifer Lyon. I absoultely loved the fist two books in this series and was a little nervous knowing that it was going to take a lot of wrap-up to fix this story and make it end the way I wanted it to. Ms. Lyon's nailed it! I couldn't even begin to imagine how she would do it, but she did it perfectly!

In the first two books of this series we learn that Kat Thayne meets Sloan Michaels and they strike a deal. Sloan doesn't believe in forever after, but he does need a woman on his arm from time to time and definitely in his bed. Hence, his plus one agreement that he goes into with the women in his life. They want to be his plus one for however long he wants them and he'll show them a good time and treat them more than generously. When he met Kat he knew he had to have her, but she was not the type to allow herself to be "bought". However, she wanted and needed to gain confidence and learn to defend herself. This is where their deal began.

"Only the fact that you're sore is keeping me from ripping those shorts off you and fucking you so hard, you'll hear ringing in your ears." Pulling back, he looked into her eyes. "When you're healed, I'll show you exactly how much you need me."

Neither, planned on falling in love, but that's exactly what they did. Sloane would do almost anything to make Kat happy and Kat felt the same way. That is until she finds out that Sloane has been training for an exposition fight that just happens to pit him against the man who killed his twin sister many years before. Kat finds this out and does everything she can to convince Sloane that they are more important than his act of revenge. Sloane doesn't feel that he can let this go. Not only will his sister go unavenged, in his eyes, but he knows Kat will never be safe.

This book was overflowing with emotion. I had no idea how this situation would be able to end well enough for the couple. It seemed like a hopeless situation. If Sloane chose Kat over revenge he would always be tormented with what he didn't do. However, if he chose revenge Kat would never look at him the same and it would eventually tear them apart. On top of all of this, Sloane and Kat had to deal with the inevitable end of Sloane's father's life, or at least the only man he has ever looked on as a dad. As Sloane battled with choices and Kat fought to show Sloane what he had to lose, his dad and trainer battled cancer. Expect the tears to flow.

The conclusion to the trilogy that was Kat and Sloane's story.
Even more than the second book you need to read the forst two books prior to this one. It starts right where book 2 ended and had me worried for a while. How on earth was this story going to end well.

What I loved about this book and both the other ones were the secondary characters that were pillars of the story but never took away from Kat and Sloane. Sometimes these types of erotic romance stories tend to only focus on the main couple, and I thought the balance between the main couple and the characters surrounding them was perfect.

With the conclusion of the trilogy the story of Kat and Sloane is told and I really enjoyed it. From the three books I loved thr first and third and liked the second. I loved the romance and the sexy scenes were hot and dirty. I loved the characters and how they developed throughout the books. Kat has been added to my favorite heroines list and Sloane has been added to my favorite dirty talkers.

I loved how everything involving Kat's attack and Sloane's plan for revenge was solved though resolution of the attack thing felt a bit rushed. This however did not lessen my enjoyment and I'm keeping my eye on Jennifer Lyon because she completely took me by surprise and I liked this first encounter a lot.

Memorable Scenes:
- the scene in the bed with Drake > beautiful illustration of Kat's character development
- the sex scenes > the one when Kat tries to spar with Sloane and the dirty dance sex lesson one!! Ms. Lyon made me wait for them as I was already halfway through when the first one came (no pun intended) but they were so worth the wait! OMG!

Fave Quotes:
Sloane had trained his body into a lethal and fiercely controlled machine, but one look from Kat—one single glance—and she ripped his control to shreds and f*cking owned him.

“Kitten, you get one chance. Walk away. Or I’m coming after you.” Slowly, he started pulling the tape off one hand. The way he purposely unwound that long strip of tape dried her mouth. Tingles popped out on her skin, and her nipples pebbled. “And?”
Sloane looped the first strip of tape around his neck like a towel and started unwrapping the second hand. “I’ll take you to the mat, rip your clothes off and give you the full force of me as I f*ck you.” Sloane tossed that second strip away and fixed his hard gaze on her. "Run.“

In this 3rd and final of the trilogy, Kat is physically and emotionally stronger. But her shattered right leg still gives out on her and she has the occasional panic attack. But she has her Bakery. Sloane and she started as each others Plus One with sexual benefits. In this book, Kat knows she is in love with Sloane. She is sleeping over most nights and helping him to take care of his mentor Drake, who rescued him from the street and made him the man he is today. Drake is dying from cancer. Ethan is Sloane's driver and a young man that he rescued from the streets. The lies told about the night Kat was beaten unravel. She fights her way free of her ex-fiancé whose illegal activities caused her to be attacked, when he is holding a scalpel to her throat. Her parents' drug company comes under scrutiny because of David's lies, the lies they chose to believe rather than believe her. Sloane is training extra hard. The man who raped and murdered his teenaged twin sister has been released from prison. Sloane plans to fight him in a ring and kill him. Kat asks him not to, Drake asks him not to. Can Kat and Sloane survive his choices? Then her Bakery makes the big time and she starts expanding into other areas. What will that do to their relationship? Can they survive Drake's death?
I really enjoyed this trilogy. Kat and Sloane were so dissimilar, and yet each damaged in different ways. They each had unsupportive family. Sloane is this super athlete/fighter/owner of a chain of gyms. Kat is a crippled, panic attack ridden woman who owns and loves her Bakery. The other characters are interesting and added a lot to the overall story.
