The Tuxedo Cat of Montevideo

Rate this book
Rob Suarez is an asexual submissive who is determined to find the perfect Master or Mistress: someone who wants him as their only sub. Someone who will shower him with romantic affection.

At first glance, neither David, a compelling but bitter veteran and amputee—he lost his right arm in Afghanistan—nor Angie, his smart and sassy wife, fit the bill. They don't even realize they're natural dominants. But Rob's never been one to judge by a first glance, and training doms is a specialty of his . . .

"The Tuxedo Cat of Montevideo and Other Valeran Park Tales" follows Rob through a disastrous crush and into the arms of a couple who might just prove trainable!

My stories are a concoction of mystery, fantasy, LGBTQ romance and power exchange (voluntary or otherwise). They're smart fluff—while there is some dark fare, you won't find bone-deep angst. Enjoy!

Rob Suarez is asexual and submissive and longs for a dom who will own and cherish him on his own terms; specifically he is not willing to share a dom's affections with another submissive. As asexual doms appear to be thin on the ground, Rob has spent a long time single, making life more interesting for everyone at D/s club Valeran Park with his ingenious and harmless pranks, earning himself attention in the form of punishment in the process.

Attending a family funeral of another club member (Mike of 'Without Restrictions') would seem an unpromising occasion on which to find what he seeks, yet could apparently vanilla couple Angie and David somehow turn outto be just what Rob has been looking for?

A delightful and unusual romance.

I really wanted to love this book. I wanted to find answers in it, to learn how a real asexual submissive behaves, to get involved in the characters and the situations, to get to the end of the book and feel that I know them, intimately. That I also know how an asexual male acts and thinks and lives.

That didn't happen. This story is, to me, a light-hearted romp, rather than a serious look at a genuine aspect of someone's life. 'Chick-lit' for BDSMers? I DID learn a lot more about the Jewish religion than I had expected, but I wasn't looking for that. It seemed like unnecessary padding, put in to fill out gaps in the story. And yet there were so many places where the author could have written in depth, with passion and real emotion, making the reader cry with sadness or laugh with the sheer joy of being alive, instead of simply putting bland words down on the page.

I hated the way that Rob acts like a child, playing silly pranks. He is 27 for god's sake, not 7. It seemed totally unreal. Perhaps there are men who act like that, but thank god I have never met any. Don't get me wrong, I know plenty of men with a utterly brilliant sense of humour, but playing stupid pranks is simply infantile.

If I had to sum the story up in one word, it would be 'thin'. Thin plot, thin characters. It could have been so very very good. And unfortunately, it wasn't.
