This book actually was surprisingly well written. I could not put it down! It has a little bit of everything and is for the most part biblically and historically correct. The title makes it sound kind of like it is for devil worshiper's and I got a lot of funny stares when reading it in a public place. However, it is just a story told from the perspective of Lucifer who never loses sight of the fact that he is in the end going to lose.

Love this book! I have read it twice, and I have to say it will never bore me! Incredible genius on the author's part; he has used Ellen White's writings to verify his facts (kudos for that); very well-written and attention-grabbing. Recommend it for anyone who likes/loves Biblical narratives and/or historical fiction.

I liked it! The whole book my brain was fighting back and forth of trying to figure out to root for, I'm so used to rooting for the main character of whatever book I'm reading, but in this book, God is the good guy!

8/24/20—I must've gotten this for free from work or it was a thrift buy or something. No notes anywhere else about it. Since I'm trying to pare down the belongings a smidge I'm letting it go, but it's intriguing enough to me to log here. Maybe someday I'll search it out again for a read.

There are 2 editions of this book. Read them both simultaneously if you can, there's small revisions and additions in the later version that convey more tension in the events and main character's internal dialogue.

Excerpts like this are why I gave four stars where the later problems would pull it to three: "The old man will spend a wretched, sleepless night in the drafty wetness of his grotto, probably protecting the wrinkled parchments with his own body. He will shiver the dark hours away, racked by painful joints and aching bones while he pleads for the storm to end, and then he'll have to arise to another hard day in the quarry.

And as I look back at the island, glimmering in one last patch of sunlight before the storm, I would give anything to trade places with the old apostle."

I loved the writing style until just about the last 150 or so pages. The story is at its best when the writer focuses on how a character interprets events, less so when they comment on them (especially with the bias of American exceptionalism). The pacing can be a bit haphazard due to this at times, which caused the ending to feel rushed, especially when the book covers huge events very quickly. I feel the second edition has a more satisfying narrative conclusion than its predecessor.

This book was a DNF. At first i thought i was going to really enjoy this book, but as i continued with the story i was really disappointed that the author gave the impression that Satan was more powerful then God. I do realize that this book was fiction, but to have it where Satan knew what God was going to do before He did it was the end for me.

I absolutely loved this book! My religious beliefs align with the idea that there was a war in Heaven and those who chose to side with Lucifer were cast out. But what if you were rebelling against Lucifer at the time and your every intent was to be on God's side? This little angel got swept away by mistake!! Aughhhh!!

One of my all-time favorite books, and the novel that inspired me to begin writing. This is an intriguing and sad tale of Lucifer's fall from grace, and his attempts to seduce mankind into sinning. You won't forget this book after you've read it.

Enjoyed this book. It is a allegory told through the diary of Lucifer. Very interesting. The book is no longer in print.

This was not what I thought it would be, but still a great look at the history of the world through an Angel's eyes.
