The Heller brothers are all heading home for the holidays in their short break in the hockey season. It should be a great family reunion since three of the four brothers are bringing their new girlfriends. But Jase and Remi just got the results of an important DNA test, and neither of them is in a mood to celebrate. Tag and Kyla also just got some surprising news that has them at odds, and Nicole’s nervous about meeting the whole family when she and Logan have been together such a short time. Instead of peace and joy, this holiday is full of angst, worry and tension...is love really enough to overcome all obstacles?

Sometimes is better you finish your characters stories in their own book. This was a mess. Drama with pregnancy, marriage proposal, DNA testing etc. all in the heroes’ parents house in Christmas time. Personal problems being discussed in the family reunion. So anticlimactic. The couple from 1st book was the main couple here. Oh, boy, and this heroine.. honestly, I can’t agree with her thoughts. She just selfish. But then, the hero was also selfish. I could understand him though. He just found out the baby he thought it was his, after months helping the ex girlfriend with doctors appointments, furniture etc. , being there when the baby was born, holding her ... and a couple of months later finding out it was a lie. I think it messes with anyone’s head. But his heroine... geezzz..
And another heroine in this book... what a bitch. The one who actually was pregnant but wasn’t sure if she was going to keep it. What a bunch of immature people.
In summary, I have no patience for drama that could be avoided. Grow up people. You’re in your thirties.

Honestly, I don't like this series anymore.

The plot. There is no plot! The love stories are superficial. And I am not a fan of insta-love.

This book was not good. Everything was so hurried there was not time to process what was happening. The books need to be larger: I am dead serious. They have potential, but every single one, except the first, happens in about two weeks! And this one is the very proof that the author was in a rush to simply end things with a HEA.

When I started to read and realized it was about Jase and Remi, I was glad. There was so much things inconclusive about their story. Then it was Christmas and I hoped for the miracle of a book not rushed. I hoped in vain.

The mix of the other relationships was a waste of time. Very well could Remi had explained what was happening with the other couples. The hat trick for which the book was titled? Simply stupid. It was not the time. Too soon, because those characters were so not ready to take that step. Also, it was so little the time they had been together, and simply were from books I am not ready to say were finished.

There is more in a book than a begging, a conflict, a resolution and the end. I need the author to make those characters real. To develop them bit by bit, with details and little scenes that make me love the character because there is a reason of their behavior.

I don't like this book. And I can't think of a single person I would recommend it to.

Oh, thank goodness! To anyone else they would have probably thought something was wrong with me. People don't typically jump up and down when reading a book, but, well, when I got the "news" I jumped up out of my seat before I knew what I was doing.

I knew this fourth book in the Heller series was written primarily to answer questions raised in Breakaway, but I was pleasantly surprised to find wonderful and hot updates about two of the other Heller brothers. And wrapped up within the drama of Jason and Brianne and the hot and sweet updates with Logan (Logan - swoon) and Tag there was a great story that revisited Jason and his insecurities. I admit, I had imagined how this story would play out before reading it. Kelly Jamieson surprised me - in a great way. Rather than a story that worked up to an "answer", the answer was given early on and then story was about how that information affected Jason and Remi's relationship. I was with Remi 100% and felt bad for Jason. It wasn't until Mom, Laura, laid it out there that I understood Jason. Laura is a smart lady and knows her boys well.

Kelly has a wonderful ability to make you empathize with her characters and make you want to cheer and laugh and cry. Kelly did a great job stepping back into this story keeping ALL characters true to the series. I loved it and it only makes me more excited for Matt's story.

**Remember this is the fourth book in a series. I highly recommend reading them in order so that you can become a Heller fan as well.

I thought this was a great addition to the Heller Brother's series. It was great catching up with all the couples and family members, even though this book revolved mostly around Remi and Jase. I was glad we got to see how their story ended. I also liked the direction of each of the other couples. I would definitively recommend this series to anyone who loves a hot and sexy hockey love story.

2.75 ⭐

I love the reason they called it a hat trick, that's fucking adorable and funny, but also Jase was being such a bitch for most of this.. like I'm glad he got some sense knocked into him but holy fuck I wish I could hit him. This is 100% my least favorite book in this series.

This review was originally posted on my review blog Deanna Reads Books

I'm super conflicted about this one because I really like Kelly Jamieson books, but this one just really missed the mark for me. This book was also kind of weird, it's not the book about the youngest brother, but rather a sort of a sequel to the other three books. It has part of the other three brothers in it and it just felt kind of weird.

I think part of my not liking it is because I really didn't like Jase in this one AT ALL. He's hurting but his relationship with Remi is really taking a hit. Like a lot, and he's kind of acting like a brat too. The drama with Tag and Kyla was kind of out of left-field too. At least Nicole and Logan were in it! They were kind of my favorite part about this.

I felt like maybe this book just wasn't necessary? Like I don't think I got anything out of it, and it just made me annoyed. Mostly because Jase is the worst in this one. I'm wondering if there just wasn't going to be another book and that's why she put this one out instead? But it felt like I didn't really need it. I'm glad I read this one in the collection binding, instead of bought it separately because I might have been annoyed if that was the case.

I'm torn. I think this series has a lot of potential. The problem is, you're reading and enjoying and then it abruptly ends. The reason I gave this story one star....I was really happy that this story was created to give an update of the couples lives. It was very very very rushed though. The whole Remi and Jase story annoyed the hell out of me! This is what caused me to not like the book. The whole hang up in Breakaway was Jase dealing with thinking he was stupid. Well you know what? ....after reading this, it really portrayed him as stupid! Did he really think his actions were okay and justified? The paternity test, Brianne, Emily, visiting after a fight, the rushed reconciliation. Too much that annoyed me to enj0y the book. Also, this book should have been written after Matt's story. I am moving on to Matt's story, but I'm sure it will be rushed just as the other one's.

H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks!!!

I'm officially a Heller Brother groupie. So sad to be finished with the series!!

This series was YUM. YUM. The perfect mix of sports hunk, hot & steamy, family, small town, and true love.

I was WORRIED there for a minute...but I'm a Sucker for the Happily Ever After.

This final installment brought me all up to date on each of the Heller brothers and their significant others. Maybe all a little too good to be true...but a fantastic ending all the same!!! And anyway, I'd have been SUPER UN-HAPPY if it DIDN'T turn out this way <3

Kelly, my only request....CONSIDER WRITING MORE OF THEIR STORY!!! I'd love to see the next chapter for these couples...as well as Matt!

3.5 starts ruined up.
This was surprisingly a very enjoyable read. What would have made it better is if the women (Kyla excluded) weren't so damn insecure. It's a double standard on my part, I know, because when the guys are insecure it's endearing but when the women are insecure it's VERY annoying.

Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. I still don't like Logan and Nicole and them getting engaged after a month of tumultuous dating is absurd, and kind of not romantic because it feels like they'll be divorced in a year. Jase & Remi and Tag & Kyla a cute couples though.

On to the next book..Matt.. the baby of the bunch!

1.75 Generous Stars for me!

This series has been pretty good up until this story. I am not sure what KJ was thinking or if she was on serious pain killers when she wrote this story. I really enjoyed the first three stories... even with the drama but this story had me saying O M G at least 100 times... out loud! My guess is that several neighbors think that I am nuts.

On the plus side
1. I like how the main h handled her sister at the beginning of the story.
2. I enjoyed how the mom took charge at the family home.
3. I liked the fact that the main h was supportive of her future husband's willingness to do the right thing if the child was his.

Will I read other stories by this author? 100% Yes.

What drove me so crazy?

1. The main H is all dour when he and his h find out that the baby is not his and that his previous GF lied about sleeping with anyone else. I can understand a bit of disappointment and being let down; however, he took it to the extreme.
1a. We need to get pregnant immediately... Then every few hours, pushing? She gets upset and he cannot comprehend why? No one is that daft.
1b. He has no clue that going to see his ex after having a big argument with his h would upset her... Again, really? He has taken at least 10,000 hockey pucks to the head to be that dense.

2. H2 throws a fit when his h wants to play hockey with the family. Seems like a huge problem until he blurts out that she is pregnant.
2a. Yes he should have asked her to go somewhere private to discuss but he chose to be a hothead.
2b. Had he sat quietly by and not commented and she decided to play... what would have happened if a hockey Puck slammed into her stomach? Common sense please.
2c. She later tells her H that work might be more important than the baby so she wasn't sure if she was going to have the child. Regardless of where you stand on termination, to choose a job over a child seems to be a bit selfish. She quickly decides that work is less important so that worked itself out.
3. For such a short story, there was so much head banter.
4. The spicy scenes were completely washed out by the actions of the characters. It gave me an eww feeling.

End of rant! 🤗

Wonderful, family reunion of the Heller brothers!

Now that the Christmas break from hockey is upon them, the Heller brothers are going home to Winnipeg with their girlfriends. It should be a joyous visit, well not so much. First Jase and Remi got back the results of the paternity test with his ex-girlfriend. The news was great, he’s not the father, however, Jase was really looking forward to being a Dad. This is creating angst between them, since Jase keeps asking Remi to get off the pill so she could get pregnant.
Then we have Tag and Kyla. She just found out she’s pregnant with his child. Talk about an oops moment. Kyla isn’t sure she wants to keep the baby.
Logan and Nicole have only been together for six months and she’s nervous about spending the holidays with Logan’s parents.
All these issues come together to create some drama. Can each couple reconcile their problems and get a happily ever after.
Loved this story with all the brothers together!

This book surprised me in that it was more about tying up the loose ends from the previous three books, rather than about the fourth Heller Brother.

Jase finally pursues the DNA test he's been putting off, and though Remi's reaction is what one would expect, Jase's wasn't what I expected at all. Putting a lot of pressure on their relationship, this book explores that much more.

Tag and Kyla have unexpected issue and though they're discussing it rationally, when it is brought to light by accident, it puts more strain on Jase and Remi's problems.

With all the stress, angst, and arguing, enter Logan introducing his new girlfriend Nicole, and there is a great deal of misunderstanding and misinterpreting reactions amongst everyone.

Not the happiest of holiday vacations but still keeping it real is what Kelly Jamieson is about.

This really felt like a transitional story, like maybe it should have been a point-five in the series instead of a whole book. The three paired-off brothers are going through things with their girlfriends, so each of their stories are told throughout the book. The purpose of the title becomes clear as time goes by. And each couple has their requisite booty time (which, honestly, I just skimmed). I guess this sort of moves the series forward, but I dunno. It wasn't *bad*, just wasn't great. Maybe because all three couples are established already so there's not much to say about them now? I dunno. I'll still continue on to the next one. There's still one Heller brother unattached.

This was tough bc I love Kelly Jamieson’s work but this series just didn’t do for me. It’s not the drama but the blind selfishness and utter immaturity, it’s like the whole series was HFN, maybe not because we’re all asshats except maybe Logan.

Jace knows Remi has been bogged down with responsibilities for her bratty siblings, Remi can’t understand how after following a pregnancy and holding Emily, Jace could become vested regardless of DNA. This is most disappointing storyline and it set the pace for sure.
Tag such as cavemen & Kyla is work obsessed.
Nicole is mighty judgie and whiny for someone who wants to fit in.
But Ma & Pa Heller have hope until Matt’s story comes along

I didn’t like Jase in book one with Remi. Didn’t like him here either.
Tag and Kyla needed an extra day at home to have the discussion they had on Christmas Eve.
Logan w Nicole new to this group seem to be the only ones with their heads on their shoulders.
Love mom Laura, speaks her mind even when the subject is uncomfortable.
A hat trick is three goals made by the same person in a game. By the last page I guess you could say there was a hat trick. This novella was sort of a crappy Christmas.

Hat Trick was my favorite book in this series since Breakaway. It included parts in all three Heller brothers and their women's points of view. They were all dealing with some heavy stuff, and I liked how each character dealt with it. I was especially happy that Jase and Remi finally got the answers they were looking for. That's honestly why I read this book!

4.5* - Rounded up to 5...

The angst in this story was REAL! Shewie... The emotions and hurt behind the paternity test results was intense. And poor Nicole! Walking into all the side stories as a new addition to the family. Harsh...

But I loved all the Christmas Day , and I loved the catch up with all the couples in this Novella...

I loved catching up with everyone, although they all needed to get smacked around a little at times. Jace especially. Yes, Remi was a little insensitive, but he crossed a line and I’m glad he owned up to it before it was too late! A great novella!

I enjoyed reading the whole series.

I enjoyed each story in this series. It was nice to catch up with everyone, learn what each couple is doing, you get answers to question unanswered in previous books. You learn the couples will have a more complete HEA. Now get Matt's story.

I enjoyed this short and sexy story updating the love lives of the Heller brothers. Everyone has a few days off at Christmas this year, and they're spending it at home in Winnipeg. Jace and Remi are struggling after receiving surprising results from Emily's DNA test; Tag and Kyla have some unexpected news, and Nicole and Logan have their own stuff going on. There was a lot packed into a short story including lots of sexy times - great story!
