SHE'S AS GOOD AS DEAD
After four years of fear and isolation, Skyler Dulay has had enough of being in WITSEC, the federal witness protection program. Uprooted every few months to stay ahead of her father’s murderous associates, she fears they will stop at nothing to silence her damning testimony, and now . . . they've found her again. Suspecting a leak in WITSEC, Skyler reaches out to the FBI special agent who saved her once before, the man she has never stopped loving.
Special Agent Drake Donovan has spent four long years trying to forget the blue-eyed daughter of the mob boss he put behind bars. In spite of his efforts to move on, one desperate call from Skyler pulls him right back in to the fight for her future. Setting out to defend her, he runs into more danger than any one man can handle. Still, Drake will assume any risk to keep Skyler from being lost to him again, but will it be enough to free her from the mob-ties that bind her?

I really wanted to read this novella since we had met Sky and Drake before and seen them become separated four years earlier due to circumstances. This opens four years later and they still love each other. This was pretty short to be much effective but is great for fans wanting to know what happened.

im actually mad that i purchased this book. First of all I thought it was a full length novel--which it is not! And the initial sample seemed good, but once I bought the book it just went downhill from there. And normally I really enjoy this author. My advise is to read if the book is free, but otherwise don't bother.

Fast paced, loads of action short wrap up of Skyler and Drake the secondary characters that were in Too Far Gone that didnt get their HEA.

Story picks up four years later with Skyler still in WITSEC but after having been moved multiple times due to being found she isnt feeling all that safe. When she suspects she is being followed again and someone breaks into her apartment she decides she is breaking the rules and calling Drake for help.

From here things go from bad to worse before who is behind everything is revealed.

This was a great wrap up and a much deserved HEA for Skyler and Drake.

Skyler Dulay's life changed overnight when she turned over evidence to convict her father, forcing her into the U. S. Marshal's witness protection program. It's been four years and she's still waiting to get her life back and reconnect with Drake Donovan, the FBI undercover agent who captured her heart. When her identity is compromised for the third time, she reaches out to Drake for help.

I loved getting the final conclusion to Skyler and Drake's story. For a short story, it was filled with tension and suspense through the end. And, we discovered the identity of the mole inside the FBI who was referred to as the Culprit. Short and satisfying ending for these two characters.

Great novella and a wonderful ending for the story of Skyler and Drake. When Skyler turned over evidence about her father, her life as a Southern Belle Princess ended and her existence in WITSEC became a reality, leaving everyone, including FBI Agent Drake, behind. She had to be relocated twice when the Centurions caught up with her and she was beginning to believe there was a leak in the Marshal's office when she is found a third time. She calls Drake and he rushes to her rescue.

This is the 8th full novel of the series. We have met the hero and heroine as sub characters a few books back. Since that book, its been four years. This is a short but sweet book.

Our hero, who fell in love with our heroine, when he was undercover hasn't stopped loving her since then. He would still do anything for her. Our heroine, who's father was arrested and was head of the mob who has others still out looking for him and his family including his daughter, has left everyone and everything behind including the a man and her career which she's both loved. However, after the last breach of her witness protection cover was blown, she's had enough and calls our hero to help her.

Immediately, he fly's to where our heroine is, with the help of his father, to get her out before the bad guys kill her. You do get the insight of the hero's parents and why their marriage didn't work. The heroine's had enough and leaves everything but money behind so no one can track her. However, even with these safe guards in place, they do find her first but our hero isn't that far behind. The hero and his father give chase. Only to find one of the guys they thought was out of the picture is still here and has our heroine. Will our hero and heroine win against the bad guys and get to be together or will they once again be split for their own protection?

I loved the hero and heroine back in the other book as sub characters. However, with this one you get want these two together because you can actually feel how much they love the other. The plot, while being a typical bad guy good guy plot, has the witness protection angle thrown in to make it a bit different.

This was really more of a short story (82 pages) than a book. I picked this up at a Little Free Library and thought I would give this, new to me author, a try. Wile the book held my interest, it didn't take that long to read, I would say it was far from my favorite book. Perhaps, I would enjoy one of Marliss Melton's longer books better. And it is possible I may look for one at the library, once real libraries are open again.

A short and satisfying ending. It's fast paced with a little action. A good love story. My only complaint was it was too short. I love her books.

LONG GONE by Marliss Melton

Does the truth set you free to tie you up?

After living under the supposed protection of the government for years, Skylar has had enough of shuffling around to keep safe. She is starting to believe it is the machine put into place that has the problem with security, she keeps being found. It was not her fault she had to expose her father’s corruption but it up to her to make sure she stays alive.

One call to Special Agent Drake Donovan, the perfect FBI agent and most amazing man she ever met can stop this. Drake answers her call and comes just just in time to prevent any other punishment to Skylar for a crime she did not commit. Drake never recovered from the touch of her lips or the soft caress against her hair so whatever it takes he is willing to do, even walk away from his career. Skylar and Drake fight with everything they have for their lives and the relationship they know they are entitled to.

Marliss Melton writes what she knows, expresses the character’s love, and releases the character’s passion with every word she writes.

This short takes us back a few installments to Drake and Skyler now that WITSEC isn’t working out for her. It felt as if no time had lapsed since the last installment of the series. The snappy writing with familiar characters made this easy to fall back into.
Her father’s minions, aides and those that got away still cannot abide Skyler living since so many have been put in jail due or are wanted on various crimes since her testimony. Although she’s been moved several times they keep finding her and Skyler decides that she needs the help of the person that saved her before. Drake has never forgotten Skyler or what they shared and all it takes is a phone call to bring him back to her side. Now if only they can stay a step ahead of her father’s cronies and WITSEC!
I liked the story though not as much as I wanted to. Though a fun read, Skyler’s damsel in distress moment and the neatness of the wrap-up was hard to swallow.

I haven't read the rest of the series, so you'd probably get more enjoyment if you have. This was alright though. It's a short novella about a WITSEC member that's been compromised. When she worries that WITSEC can't protect her anymore, she calls her long lost love to protect her. Skye was alright. She was strong and brave and resourceful for the most part. Drake was protective if a bit stupid at times. Didn't really make sense why he didn't tell her to hurry up - he was worried about her safety and time was of the essence regardless of her breakdown. Both characters were fine but a novella doesn't really give much time for character development. Plus the characters were apparently in a previous novel and a lot of their development and history is off page. It was alright though and I'm sure fans of the series will like seeing more of Skye and Drake. I doubt I'll read the rest of the series - none of the books really grab me. 2 stars.

Honestly, since I discovered Marliss Melton's books a few years ago, (Next to Die was my first) I was drawn to this woman's writing. Great story lines, suspenseful, romantic, filled with action, great characters. I was hooked. GONE TOO FAR was a great one that I just reread, in order to refresh my memory of Skyler and Drake. I meant just to skim through it, but ended up reading it all over again, it was that good! Then, I jumped right in to LONG GONE and was happy to see the same elements present to complete those wondering thoughts of What happened to Skyler and Drake? Loved it! You can read this short Novella and be happy, same elements present to keep you hooked, and I absolutely didn't mind revisiting GTF. I give it 4.5 only because it was shorter than her other books.

Long Gone finalizes Drake and Skyler's story which began in Too Far Gone where the reader first met this pair and cheered them on but realized their story was incomplete and so we the readers begged Marliss to tell their story and what a job she's done. Yes it was delivered in novella format, not as long as her other Seal stories yet it was delivered with such visual imagery that was powerpacked with one helluva fast paced, intense, romantic reads that left this reader feeling very satisfied.

Nggak tahan lagi akhirnya dia nelpon Drake. Kalo masih ingat, Drake pernah ngasih nomor telponnya ke Skyler dulu.
Ya begitulah mereka bertemu. Pantesan kok aku ngerasa adegan sexnya cepet banget. Ealah ternyata ini cuma cerita pendek doang.. hahahhaa

Long Gone continues Drake and Skylars story from Too Far Gone. Skylar is in the Winess Protection Program, but she doesn't trust them anymore.. Her location has been found several times and she has had to be moved. She turns to Drake, the only one she trusts to protect her, and they go on the run. I have been reading Marliss Melton since her first book and have loved all of them. If you like romantic suspense, give one of her books a try.

3.5 stars. It was easy to drop back into the story between Drake and Skyler and I was happy to get the conclusion to their story. Although I really enjoyed the story I wanted a little bit more. It was a quick, fun read but Skyler always seemed to be in distress and I just didn't buy the way it was easily wrap-upped. Still it was well written and enjoyable.

I really liked this novella and the follow up with the characters. It was fast paced romantic suspense that doesn't bore at all! I was disappointed with the ending though, felt the story didn't really end at all and left me too many unanswered questions.

While I have a feeling I would have enjoyed this more if I had read the story these two characters where first envolved it I did enjoy this book. It was a short fast paced but interesting read. I fell for the main characters and was very glad to see them together at the end.

It was nice to get more closure on that whole centurion plot and see some of them actually get punished. Nice to see Skyler and Drake get a happy ending too.

Unfortunately this one read a bit like a Scooby Doo episode, right down to ripping off the bad guys mask at the end. And if it weren't for those meddling kids...
