White Magic Woman by Ju Ephraime is a 2012 release, published by Envision. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Set in the beautiful St. Lucia, Todd and Simonia are enjoying being newlyweds. Todd is doing research in hopes of finding a cure for Malaria.
When he take a break and walks into a local restaurant named Josephine's, his life takes a turn for the worst. A beautiful waitress is attracted to Todd, but he is very happily married, so he doesn't take the bait.
Now every night he is tormented by erotic dreams that leaves him unable to respond to his wife. He is losing sleep and unable to concentrate on his job. When he seeks advice, he is told he is a victim of a scorned witch.

Now he and Simonia, with some help from the family, must take dangerous and drastic measures to free Todd from the witch.

This book is a bit of a departure from the other two books I have read by this author. This is a paranormal/contemporary romance. The couple are already in love and married, hoping to start a family. But, when Todd becomes a victim of the witch's revenge his new marriage is in deep trouble.
Being a typical male, Todd decides he needs to protect his wife and try to solve the problem on his own. Of course, eventually he has to come clean and Simonia shows great strength and courage as she supports her husband. In St. Lucia, tales of Voodoo and black magic are common and part of the culture, so Simonia takes Todd's situation seriously.
But, has Todd told his wife everything? Will their marriage survive?
While Todd suffers from a fictional malady, the witch's curse could be taken metaphorically. Marriages often hit a bump somewhere along the way. Could be money or job stress or anything and guys will often try to cover it up or lie about it to keep their wives from getting mad at them or from worrying. Todd was no exception.
So, underneath the supernatural and erotic tones in the novel, there are some real truths in there too. Being honest and true in a relationship is key to it's success. Together you can come through any crisis. Todd and Simonia have a true love relationship that gives us a fine example of how things could be in a marriage if we would only work together.
This book will appeal to readers of contemporary and paranormal romance.
Overall this a good solid A.

I was asked to review this for the author in exchange for a copy of this book.

I started reading this last night and I was wondering where all the sexual talk was leading. I am still unclear where it was going, but I tried to understand the concept of the story.

I am sorry if this doesn't help, but I feel I can't connect to the characters in this book as I have no idea who the woman is in the story.

Todd Montgomery is a newly married man who works with the Malaria Researach and Reference Reagent Resource Center. He has been sent to St. Lucia to discover a cure for a new strain of Malaria that is not responding to the usual treatments. His assignment is for two years keeping him away from his wife for long periods of time. But, in spite of the time he spends apart from her he does not seek out other women.

For the past three months something strange has been happening to Todd, he has been having dreams of a woman using his body like her own personal play thing. It doesn't take long for what he believed to be a dream to actually be reality. A woman is essentially raping him nightly and his greatest fear is that it will destroy his marriage. Not knowing what to do he returns home for a short visit and finds out that he is unable to have an erection even with the woman he loves more than life itself. Unwilling to explain the situation to his wife Simonia he returns to St. Lucia and seeks out the help of an Obeah, a woman with a knowledge of magic that may be able to stop what is happening.

Apparently a sorceress has taken a liking to Todd and even when he uses the tools given to him by the Obeah he is still visited nightly. With no other choice Todd leaves his position and returns home. He is convinced that the witch will not be able to follow him back to New South Wales, his home.

Things between Todd and Simonia are once again back to normal, their sex life is as active as it ever was and he is beginning to believe he was right, the witch could not follow him. One night his belief is shattered when he wakes up in the bathroom covered in bruises and bite marks. He can no longer hide what is happening and confesses to Simonia. She immediately contacts her Papino who is an aborigini for help. Simonia and Todd have no choice but to return to where the trouble all began, St. Lucia. It is there they must stop the witch.

Todd believes the witch is a new waitress at a restaurant he used to go to, she is beautiful and makes him feel strange when he is around her, but is it her? She seems to be the most obvious one but magic can be very powerful and can make you believe something that is not true. Can Todd and Simonia stop the witch? Is there love stronger than the witch's magic?

This was a very interesting novel and there were surprises, suspense and magic. Simonia and Todd are two characters you just can't help rooting for, their love for each other is beautiful.

Todd Montgomery, one of the main characters of the story, is a very sexually aware individual. His line of work takes him to the Caribbean, leaving his wife behind, but it isn’t all tropical paradise for Todd; this is a place where black and white magic prevail. Todd was one that thought magic was just a wild concept until he began to experience sexual encounters that leave him highly aroused, but also with the feel of being violated. Todd thought his problem was all in his mind has a problem until he found he could no longer perform with his wife or get any type of arousal except for the dream lady.
Todd relays this information with a local who tells him he has been cursed by a witch, an evil spirit. He seeks different avenues of thwarting her attempts of seduction, all were unsuccessful. Todd finally had to confide on his wife, Simonia, what was happening. Does there love stand the test of time and will Simonia really believe that Todd has a sexual curse on him? I loved the character of Simonia and how she willingly believed her husband without ever witnessing any of the mystical events that had occurred; most of us would assume he was covering up something with all the talk of a witch and curse. Todd and Simonia have a love and respect for each other that is usually not witnessed in today’s society. When the going gets rough they stick together to get it sorted out and not try to place blame or accusations on the other.
The characters in Ju’s White Magic Woman come to life from the first page. This was a novel of high heat to the umpteenth degree. Ju’s has a writing style that not only depicts a well versed storyline, but also adds in the extra benefits of knowing what happens behind closed doors; a place where many authors fill is the forbidden zone to write about. I can honestly say that this is read that one who likes a true romance will thoroughly enjoy this paranormal enticing read. Looking forward to more arousing reads from this highly creative artist.

White Magic Woman

By

Ju Ephraime

Todd Montgomery has a problem – one most men would salivate over. But Todd is a devoted husband and what's happening is destroying him and his marriage. His work in Malaria Research takes him to St. Lucia in the Caribbean, a place where the locals believe in black and white magic. Todd never did . . . until the spirit of Lenora, an island beauty, visits him repeatedly throughout the nights, using her magic to bring him to heights of arousal never before felt. Her assaults with her mouth and her driving him into erotic never-ending climaxes leave him exhausted, bruised and battered. He feels raped.

Todd is no match for her sexual intensity and confides in a friend who gives him advice from an obeah woman for help in warding off the seductive witch who only comes to him in spirit — evil spirit. When all the traditional ways told by the obeah woman do not work, Todd decides he must leave the island and his work, and go home to his wife, Simonia. The horror of the situation is that the spell on him leaves him impotent with his own beautiful wife. Worse, the nymphomaniac of a witch follows him home, clear across the ocean.

Ju Ephraime writes a steamy, intoxicating erotic romance, intermingled with startling paranormal events. Will Simonia and Todd be able to save their marriage and destroy the white magic witch? This well-written tale comes to an unexpected and fearsome ending. Simonia is determined no witch will take her man, and she has some tricks up her sleeves from her own aboriginal background.

The author’s characters are well-developed and likable, and her detailed scenes, plus hot sex will make the readers crave even more — making this book a page turner. Most importantly, it is a genuine love story that will melt even the coldest heart.

I received this book to give an honest review.

I previously got to read another sexual ghost story kind of like this one. And I enjoyed it. With this story it was no different I stayed up later to finish the book as I wanted to know what was going to happen next. This is not your average ghost spooky story, this has a touch of cultural magic to it, which I loved. You are taken into the world of St. Lucia and you are met with Todd who has caught the eye of a island woman who will stop at nothing to keep him to herself sexual. When Todd ends up telling his wife after trying to get rid of this "White Magic Woman" his wife stands beside him which I found to be awesome because that is what a wife or husband should do. Yes of course she was a bit jealous and wondering if he cheated who wouldn't but when she found out the truth she didn't hesitate to help me figure out a plan. I loved how we got a bit of background to his wife's cultural on her mother's side.
I enjoyed how there was different ways to end the magic this witch had on Todd, and how he did try them even when he didn't believe.
I enjoyed how the author weaved in the magic, the cultural, the occult's of both the Aboriginals and St. Lucia.
Now I would have liked more character building with "Papino" Simonia's grandfather. What exactly did he put Todd through? This was never fully explained.
I also would have liked the ending to have been better. Don't get me wrong I liked the happy ending but there was never any confirmation that they got the right witch. They never went back to the restaurant just to make sure. I would have liked that in there.

Besides those two issues I had, the overall story was wonderful. Full of magic, sex, a love that will stop at nothing.

Every night, Todd is visited by a witch who doesn't care that he's married. In fact, she takes him for a wild sexual ride without his permission. This story is about him breaking the witch's control over his body and getting the loving relationship with his wife, Simonia, restored.

Having read several of this author's books, I can honestly say, I enjoyed this one the most. The flow is good, though the details are overly done in some areas (eg. the real estate description of the St. Lucia rental home could have been left out entirely, in my humble opinion), and the paranormal element kept just enough suspense to keep me guessing about what would happen next. Ju's novel, The Man In the Black Top Hat, features a similar theme of body possession, except a ghost is the culprit there and it is based on a true story, according to Ju. She was able to allow her imagination to run more freely with this one.

As with her novel, State of Ecstasy (given a subtle nod in the current novel), I am left feeling like I need to travel more. Ju takes me to these exotic islands around the world in her books and makes me feel like I need to visit them in real life. And maybe stay there.

I was very impressed with this book. I think what really made me connect to the story was the love affair between Todd and his wife Simonia. It was a beautiful story weaved around amazing details in voodoo, magic, and the supernatural. The author obviously did a lot of research or has a wonderful understanding of the magical world. Not only was the story unique and quite enjoyable but it was a cultural lesson as well.

The love scenes in this book were well done. They didn't go over the top but were descriptive enough to draw the reader into the love these two characters shared with each other.

Ju Ephraime weaved a marvelous story that will leave you breathless for more. I can't wait for the next book! I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in delving into the dangerous world of magic.

Todd and Simonia are a very happily married couple, however Todd works away from home for long periods at a time. Whilst in St Lucia, he has unexplained sexual occurrences, which leave him baffled and disturbed. He is not an unfaithful husband but rather a man under a spell. This is where I leave the story for fear of spoiling it for others. I will say that this is an usual story with some great plots and interesting characters involved in the occults.

The author writes in an easy, straightforward style and develops each character with care.
I particularly enjoyed the romance between Todd and Simonia. It proves that love goes a long way to conquer all.

Ms Ephraime is a talented author and this is not the first book I have read, penned by her.
A very enjoyable and engrossing read, which managed to take me away from my hectic life, for a while.

I was very intrigued by the title of this book. After reading the brief excerpt on the author’s blog, I was even more intrigued. I’m happy to write, I was not disappointed in this read. Having read several of this author’s books, I knew I was in for a treat. The book is nothing you would imagine from the title. Yes, it does have magic, voodoo and the bit about the obeah woman, but the overwhelming theme is a powerful love between a man and his wife. The love scenes are passionate and powerful, but very well done. Even their first lover’s spat was well done. The bit about New South Wales was an added bonus, I was always intrigued by the Aborigines of Australia. I loved Todd and because of the way he loved and adored his wife. Would that someone would love me like that.

I was asked to review White Magic Woman by the author, now, this isn’t my usual book subject, but I dug in anyway. Boy, I’m glad I did! Todd is newly married to Simonia, and is madly in love with her. But when he comes home from one of his trips to St Lucia, he finds he’s not able to perform sexually.
Of course, Simonia thinks that something is up, and Todd ends up confessing about his nightly visits from a White Magic Woman, (Hence, the title). Of course, no woman will sit idlly by while another woman, sorceress or not, steals her man. So Simonia fights for man since Todd is helpless to do so.
This book was filled with love, magic, and adventure. And the best part? Well, grab yourself a copy and find out.

I was finally able to get the time to read White Magic Woman. Time and again I’m surprised by the writing skill of this author. The theme of the book was fresh and one I’ve never read before in a romance novel. The locales were also exotic and different, New South Wales, Dominica and St. Lucia. The author was able to weave together use the one thing these three areas had in common, peppered it with magic, throw in the obsessive love of a voodoo witch juxtapose that with the beautiful love of a husband and wife, and you have a romance novel like no other. The story will have you turning page after page, until the end.

This review is from: White Magic Woman (Kindle Edition)
I immediately thought of an old song upon reading the title of this book, Black Magic Woman. This story is full of thrills, lust, seduction, and the supernatural. Todd Montgomery is a virtuous man who finds himself under siege by the advances of persistent woman with magic powers. I found myself caught up in the battle as Todd and his wife Simonia seek any and all help to overcome the onslaught of the witch. Oh, the intense sex scenes add even more flavor to the story. White Magic Woman was a compelling read that held me to my seat and didn't allow me to move until i finished

I loved that this book was written from a male’s point of view, it’s refreshing to read what’s going on inside a man’s head. With that being said; OMG what an annoying witch, I really wanted to strangle her at times. To be honest I really didn’t know what to expect, because I don’t read this genre very often. But having read other books by this amazing author, I knew that I would be in for a nail-biting, hot ride. You get a bit of everything in this book, from magic to steamy hot scenes and you’ll find yourself turning the pages in anticipation to read what’s next...I would definitely recommend this book to everyone who’s looking for a great, but unusual read!!!

This is one steamy novel, set in the exotic West Indies; the powers of the elusive and mysterious white witch beckon Todd Montgomery's every sexual fantasy, leaving him exhausted, afraid, and conflicted about telling his wife. I loved the supernatural elements to Ephraime's story and the compelling plot with plenty of startling situations. Ephraime has hit the mark on white hot erotica.

White Magic Woman
by Ju Ephraime
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ju Ephraime is such a talented writer. I really enjoy the characters she crafts along with the amazing supernatural situations they encounter. The White Magic Woman is such a great compliment to her books in that they share a world while being so realistic they still maintain some distinct identities. One of the things I like so much is the very unique characters and their perspective. Ju Ephraime Paranormal books are very different from your norm. Yet her book features a complex story, plenty of suspense, character development and just a subtle hint of romance. White Magic Woman isn't bad it will keep you engaged with all of the mysterious things that happen to Todd's life, but here's the thing, while I enjoyed Todd and Simonia's characters to a certain point, both of them had very annoying tendicies. Todd Montgomery is a newly married man, who happy with his life. He job as a research scientist takes him all over the world. Simonia is a dancer who is passionately in love with her husband, Todd, and lives for the moments they can spend together. Yet at the first sign of trouble he regressed back to a typical man and don't tell his wife what's happening to him. I don't understand this if they have always discuss their problems. Why not tell your wife when it's a culture she and her family believes in. But I still enjoyed White Magic Woman. This book does delves deeper into the realistic culture of Voodoo and tell you how to essentially destroy the witch and rebuild your love life with your partner basically returning the love to your world, but you must realize the jumping off point isn't the romance, so once you think supernatural investigation than the book gets more intriguing, with the focus on the effect which is the witch's obsession. Sometimes I wonder if it would be possible for me to ever not enjoyed an Ju Ephraime books. Because every time I pick one up, it satisfies me like nothing else can. Thankfully (for me!) The book is discussed which made it more interesting as a supernatural, along with the sexual scenes which is steamy hot and oh do the sparks fly between them it's blazing hot. I enjoyed everything about this book especially some part raise the hair on my neck. As I’ve already covered the heroine but for the most part there are two with the white magic woman being on. Todd is one heck of a hero. He is alpha male but stubborn. His world defines by his abilities to love Simonia and her family, but Simonia sees him as the love of her life. There is a little romance but his love of her with her family he’s amazing. Some of the best parts of the book for me are in the moments that he trusts his wife's grandfather with how to get rid of the White Magic Woman along with his feelings for Simonia they could actually capture their life not just for him ,but for Simonia and everyone he considers his family. But like all of the books Ju Ephraime writes the world building is fantastic along with the consistent of her characters. I enjoyed all of Simonia’s family power and the way her grandfather wields it right along with his traditional supernatural weapons. Simonia ’s gift is pretty amazing too. Speaking of which, the supporting cast of characters are strong; I enjoyed Simonia’s family. Plus don't forget the sexy-times they are steamy hot, there is only a little romance but what's there gives you everything you can ever want, and the ending is so totally satisfying. I highly recommend this book. But for some the subject matter will not have enough romance, plus the book will give you better insight of the realistic subject of Voodoo, it gives you more depth into the characters and book. I sincerely hope you get as much enjoyment out of the this book as I have.

I do love a good tale about a sorceress, whether in ancient times or modern. Ju Ephraime delivers one, in spades, with her novel "White Magic Woman." This story leans more to the magical realism side of sorcery than to the fantasy side of sorcery, but that's fine with me. The author is traveled, and we go from St. Lucia to New South Wales with stops in between. This is a sophisticated tale, never crude or crass, But it is exotic, erotic, and titillating. I recommend it for the more discriminating reader in the 18+ age group.

Now that I have your attention, here's a glimpse of what's in this book: Our hero is named Todd. Todd is visited nightly by a witch; the fact that Todd has a wife in no way deters the sorceress. What follows would be considered seduction if not rape, were Todd the female in this story. But he's not, and the witch gives him an unsolicited wild and sexy...ride.

Can Todd break the witch's hold? the witch's hold on his body and mind? Save his marriage to Simonia?

And if he can, will he -- or is he too far gone, adrift in passion.

A tale that abounds with paranormal suspense, the ending of White Magic Woman is difficult to predict -- until you get there. Then all is revealed that should be.

I'll not spoil this for you, or tell you whether this tale is magical realism in high hear or paranormal suspense. It's both, and neither. It's a great story to read in the dark before a roaring fire or on a windy hilltop with your lover -- or lovers.

Now I need to find something else by Ju Ephraime to read... So will you, once you've read "White Magic Woman."

Okay this is usually not my genre nor have I ever read a paranormal fiction book before, but I can say I really enjoyed this book and was honored to review it. The book was very fascinating and the title "White Magic Woman" was different. Todd Montgomery and Simonia was a happy married coupled being tested by the bad witch spell (voodoo). I was upset that the witch wasn't revealed to rather knowing if it was indeed the young waitress that worked at Josephine's, but overall it concluded how deeply in love the couple were and how they fought together in getting rid of the spell Todd was under.

This wasn't a tale of a man cheating but more so being used sexually not at his will. There was passion, sexual steamy encounters and overall a Bonnie and Clyde type of story. The witch was really pissing me off to the highest level, that it was suspenseful on how she followed Todd back home across the ocean. The book was defiantly a page turner, but overall left me with many questions and wanting more! Kudos Ju!

I did not know what to expect from "White Magic Woman". The title sounded captivating as well as the blurb, so I bought it. My instinct was right.

This is not a "normal" story of betrays, love and paranormal activities. This is an intrigued fairy tale for adults. The story has all the elements of the classic tales: love, the evil witch, the faultless hero and the fond heroine. Top them up with black and white magic, some twist and turns, a hit of Caribbean culture and an unexpected ending... and the perfect, enjoyable recipe is ready to be read.

Author Ephraime was capable of picturing the sex scenes without being too much explicit for my tastes, although transmitting me the pathos. The characters are well described and look very credible despite of the magical elements overlooking the story.

After having read White Magic Woman I bought also "Loving Therèse" from the same author. Definitely a 5-stars-choice if you like soft sex scenes and want to spend a couple of afternoons in a good reading.

An enjoyable story detailing with the efforts of a young man to deal with the attacks of a White Magic Woman. Some how he had attracted the attention of the witch who invaded his dreams and took possession of him every night. At first he did not take the matter seriously but then when he returned home he found he could not perform with his wife.
On his return to St Lucia he decided to take steps but those he spoke to treated it as a joke. What man would not like to be ravished by a beautiful woman every night.
Eventually he felt he had identified the woman and fled the island. This time he confided in hids wife. She arranged for him to see her papino who would be able to help.
This worked and working together the young couple managed to kill the witch.
One minor issue, at the end we still do not conclusively know who the witch was. It is hinted at but never revealled.
But I do recommend this story.

This book was a terrific read. I was enthralled from the first chapter. As the story unfolds I couldn’t help feeling sorry for Todd. Why did the witch pick him, and who was the witch? Every time I thought I’d figured it out, it turned out not to be the case. The story took me to several different countries. The author did a great job giving the history of the locations and its people: Dominica, St. Lucia and New South Wales, even including a brief background on the aborigine. Add to this, romance, magic and passion… lots of passion and you have a masterpiece. The story kept me in suspense until the very end, exceptional writing!

A Sensual Passionate Story.

A paranormal novel, written in a very sensual passionate way. It shows a supernatural world and lust interacting in the ordinary world, creating a real adventure for the reader.
Todd Montgomery is the main character in this novel, his problem is one that most men would like to have, but he does not.
I would recommend the reading of Ju Ephraime's books, this one being White Magic Woman. I have read many of her books and have enjoyed them all. You will also love the many food descriptions Ju uses throughout her novels.

An interesting tale about magic and sexuality.

Todd Montgomery is visited every night by a witch that uses his body against his consent. The story is told from a male's perspective which I found different from normal romance novels. He seemed to constantly be torn between his body's reaction to the witch and what he really wanted - a relationship with his wife.

I would recommend this novel for erotic lovers interested in a unique male perspective.

Ju Ephraime is a master storyteller. White Magic Woman is a scintillating, romantic fable that draws you into a man’s personal bewitchment word by word. The characters are three-dimensional and intricately drawn and the setting appropriately exotic. This story is what I call borderline erotic, so be forewarned, if you don’t read erotica, it might be a bit much. I wouldn't be surprised to see this story shoot to the top of the erotica charts because of the quality of the writing.

I didn't find it interesting. The "male perspective' certainly was written by a woman, who relly doesn't understand how to write a convincing male. Simiona got on my nerves. The only thing people might respond to is the YES, marriage can be passionate and wonderful, sort of thing….and that is just not much.
