Caleb McEllis recently moved to San Diego to start a new life...he was going to go to college, make new friends, hopefully go on a date or two, but most importantly, he was leaving Twentynine Palms, and never looking back! He wasn't quite that lucky however, and when his financial aid doesn't work out, he is forced to get a job in downtown. His life was finally starting to settle into a pretty stable pattern, which of course means that all hell is about to break loose, and as Awakened begins, Caleb is just about to find out how off track his life is going to become.

On his way to work one night, Caleb is run off the road by a shadowy creature, and during the ensuing chaos, he finds out that most of what he knows about himself and his life is based on lies. As they begin to unravel, he must decide if he is willing to embrace the truth and become what he is meant to be, or continue to live with the lies and risk dying.

I have been an avid reader of paranormal, fantasy, and sci-fi books since I realized that I could become so captivated by a book that I would read it in one sitting. I have explored the monsters that lurk in the shadows, braved the deepest reaches of outer space, fallen in love "for the first time" every other day, and stood with the chosen ones as they faced their biggest challenges. Each story and character has inspired my writing. In 2011, my life began on a new journey when I finally pursued one of my passions, writing the type of novel I wish I had read as a teen. I've written a few more since then and I still love it!

When not working on my own stories, I have helped other writers edit their works in progress, assisted students in pursuing their college goals, and supported couples planning their weddings.

I currently live outside Houston, Texas with my husband.

Caleb has been plucked from the only life he has known (adopted as a baby for his own safety). He's in danger and has to rejoin the pack, for protection and defend his position, a sweetie and very likable as the unsuspecting, upcoming Alpha. He has a lot of catching up to do and fumbles his his way through training sessions and challenges to prepare himself for what's to come. He should only be able to shift on his 18th birthday which is weeks away, but strange things keep happening, it looks like he may be a rare Alpha with unique powers. There is also a connection with Gabriel (potential mate, sparks fly) healing capabilities which work hand in hand between them. Another intriguing aspect to be explored further, I can't wait to see what's in store next. I liked it, cute, funny and adorable, its not perfect but a good start to the series.

I saw Drew liked the book so I gave it a shot...FANTASTIC read! Caleb's character is very well developed and I found myself wanting to actually meet him...

In all truthfulness it was a tad bit predictable, but a great read nonetheless. Besides, the LGBT community needs more paranormal stories that don't involve love making or sensual activities. I mean, come on!

Can't wait for book 2!

A Sweet Twist on Pack Dynamics

Awakened is about a seventeen-year-old, about to become an adult, who is informed only then that he is actually a wolf shifter, in line to be Alpha of the pack his birth mother is currently leading.

Since shifters can’t shift until they awaken at eighteen, he’s been protected by being hidden with foster parents.

There is a lot of drama and great fight scenes in human form as well as wolf form. I loved the mystery aspect where they tried to figure out who was behind the killings and kidnappings of pack members.

The character development of the main character was exciting to see as he accepted his new identity and the role that would be expected of him.

I loved the sweet connection he and his love interest have and how they have a magical connection when they are together. I’m excited to see what comes of them and their powers in the next book!

A fantastic read for a paranormal fan! Caleb was a likeable character who I instantly connected with. When he's involved in an accident, his true identity is revealed to him. I really enjoyed the variety of scenes within the book from everyday life, work, and full on action. Each chapter had its own way of moving the story along. There were also some twists which I didn't see coming (I find this so rare in books and I love it!). An all-round fantastic story and I'm looking forward to seeing what Caleb does next!

What an enjoyable read. I honestly found it hard to put down. This is a great shifter book for the YA audience as it does not have a lot of spice. But there are lots of other emotions in this story. I really like how Creech balances Caleb's anger with his compassion for others. Well done!

Bring on book 2!

Awakened held my attention from page one. Really enjoy the dialogue - each character had their own voice. Excellent first outing Mr. Creech!

Whats do I think? I think you need to read this! I was a bit dubious at first seeing as the main character, Caleb, seemed to jump to conclusions most would claim, far-fetched. But hey, the guy is paranoid, who can blame him with all the night terrors he’s suffered through? And a couple chapters in the book and I was hooked.

This is a must read because it's different in every way I thought it would be the same. The main character is gay but there is not that typical "coming out of the closet angst" that is usually present in the gay young adult genre. The mythology for the shifters 'the awakened' is also different here too. Additionally, Caleb's romantic interest(s) of the book do not follow they very tedious script most authors have their characters play by. By this I mean, it is not the typical boy sees boy, boy falls in love with boy, they break up, they get back together scheme. Though I love when authors give you these refreshing plot twists, I can't say I am thrilled that the author decided not to implement this with Adam!

All in all it is not how you expect, and throwing away my preconceived notions from the first couple of chapters had me devouring the book, eager to find out what would happen next. Nothing is as it seems in this book :)

I definitely can't wait for the next book in the series. Team Adam! Woot woot!

Hmmm where to start...

Well first off I'll say that I read this as a 'read to review'. I can be notoriously slow to read these if I'm not enjoying them. I started this book last night and finished it at work on my lunch break today.

I like this story. Old subject with a good twist on the standard story, I guess that's a good way to spin it. I REALLY enjoyed the characters. I loved the main character and there was some great interplay with the supporting cast..

So what am I holding back on?? I was put off a little by the story which was a (very) little jumpy in places. It wasn't that bad, just sort of jumped at odd times. I felt there might have been a couple of paragraphs that were missing. It is a great story without to many holes that it trips over (and those that I found were more like puddles - not the gaping holes that can be found in a first time authors book)

Character wise, I think the characters were all really well developed and started fleshing out really well by the end. I would like to see a bit more of one of them, but I suspect that we might see that one in the future - I hope).

Overall, I think it's worth getting on board with this author and his hook on the werewolf genre. I personally am looking forward to the next instalment in the series - Challenged.

ps - Kenneth get back to writing, I want to know what happens after this book ends.

From the very first page I was captivated by this story. The author immediately draws you into Caleb's life as he begins to experience strange events unraveling truths about his past. Acceptance of his true nature is only the beginning as he must adapt to a new world unfolding around him and take his place among the Awakened.

I was thoroughly impressed by this novel and enjoyed following Caleb, a young gay teen, on his journey through his awakening. The author takes a unique perspective on an old story enabling the readers' imagination to run rampant as he twists and turns throughout this suspenseful work of fiction.

I highly ecommend this story to not just youg adults, but all readers of the paranormal. The author has wet my appetite for the awakened series and I can't wait for book 2!!!

For his first self published book Kenneth has done quite successfully on giving some fresh ideas on an age old genre, especially for the lgbt community.
I will not lie, the book does have a few rough spots, but nothing extreme; all easily overlooked and not really distracting from the story. What he does not fall short on by far is character development, especially when it comes to the interactions between Caleb and Adam.
Overall I very much enjoyed the read, and am looking forward to the sequel, hopefully coming out soon! If you're looking for a quick and enjoyable werewolf story with an interesting new take on werewolf mechanics, this is a good book to read!
