2024 reads, #9. I now regularly read small and fast romance novels designed to be exclusively distributed through Kindle Unlimited, because of having a growing amount of clients in my freelance editing career who write these same kinds of books, and with me wanting to keep up with the latest trends. Check out my "romance" tag to see all my write-ups. Today's book is a perfectly serviceable if not pedestrian omegaverse tale, by which I mean it takes about a short story's worth of plot and marries it to about half a dozen sex scenes, the whole thing written with a new paragraph break after every single sentence in order to pad out the page count; and while that would usually get three stars from me in any other context, I've decided to start giving these kinds of romance novels four stars instead, because "serviceable" is all anybody wants and expects from these Kindle Unlimited romance novels in the first place, just something to help pleasantly kill about four to six hours of one's life without being too incredibly insulting to one's intelligence.
I have to admit, I continue to be obsessed with the omegaverse subgenre in romance, because of its goal to bring together what seems like to me two diametrically different ideas that you would think couldn't work with each other, where fans get all the thrills of a violent rape fantasy but all the teddy bears and pink balloons of a normal romance novel, basically by positing a paranormal universe where humans essentially "go into heat" like animals do, thus allowing you to still have Mister Perfect Nice Guy as the male lead character but who also simply can't help himself from grabbing any woman closer than a few feet from him and aggressively having his way with her. (Remember, if a man ever pushes a woman to the ground and then violently takes her from behind, just to later wash her hair in the bathtub, you know you're reading an omegaverse novel.) When it comes to that, this book delivers the fetish just fine, but doesn't bother or even aim to be the tiniest bit better than simply a fetish delivery vehicle, which is why these kinds of books come and go from the Kindle Store in the blink of an eye like the disposable tissues they are. Read it or not with this understanding before you pick it up.
There were aspects of this book that I really did like, and the world that the author created is a strong one with lots of potential. I also liked the introduction of future characters for future books. However, a lot of the reviewers are correct, and that the relationship between Mercer and Olivia was not very well built out. I did feel like the steamy’s scenes were good, but it certainly could be better. Maybe it is a three star book but I’m gonna give it four because I think the author can come back and edit it a bit and make it a lot stronger without too much work. I know she doesn’t have a lot of work out there right now. I’m also appreciative the author did NOT include MM action because that is not how reverse harems started.
I would say it was a solid read. Fast-paced and a little abrupt in how everything is happening. There is no real time that shows relationship building. It's mostly they met, they are immediately attracted to each other. A short period of resistance, in the like “we barely know each other, or there are reasons, why this shouldn't be”. And then, with little difficulties, it's like “we knew from the start we belong together, and now we are pack”.
Otherwise, there was world building. Though, again, it's more superficially mentioned. There was a mutation that changed the people into alphas, betas, or omegas. The first years were utopia before the ACB rose into power and took control of the city and society. So, omegas are sought after, and forced to the auction housed to sell them to the highest bidder. How the life actually looked, for each designation, is not really mentioned. We could assume, that there are similarities to other OV books. Alphas and betas live mostly undisturbed lives (if they are not some target of the ACB for whatever reason). Omegas are haunted or obtained in every way possible, mistreated even and then sold off. The only way for them to go under the radar and live with certain freedom is through real or fake/synthetic mate bites.
The story, in general, was not really anything new. But interesting enough, that it kept me going. As I said, solid book and quick to read, either. I was not a huge fan of the ending, since it didn't solve anything really. I get it, that the omega friends get their own stories. So, that couldn't be solved here. But the ending felt abrupt again, and the epilogue didn't tell us much. It was just one smutty scene. I'm not a fan of that kind of epilogue. I want to know more about their lives and maybe if there was any reaction in regard to the things, that did go down with Olivia and her pack. Or even her friends. But nothing was mentioned, so I was disappointed, that it was only used to get an extra smutty time pushed in.
I will probably read the next books, because I really want to know if they are able to change the society and what happened to her friend.
I should of really liked this story but for some reason i couldn't get into it. Maybe because of the random hilarious typos like somebody being described as "sober and series" instead of serious. And idk what tattoo artist the author may of been at but if they got you straddling a chair for a thigh piece then you may want a different artist most (or atleast the ones I know) will just ask you to lay in a side position on the table like you would place a person after a seizure. Idk maybe I may just be in a book slump, so maybe I need to reread it at a different time or maybe not. Idk but I'm pressing pause on this series right now.
Also fyi, for anyone out there that doesnt know,do not introduce saliva to new nip piercings. Saliva has bacteria in it can cause an infection so let's not do that ¿-¿

This is a time when everything changed and people would be Alpha, Beta, or Omega. Unfortunately for the Omegas, they are a commodity that everyone wanted, so capturing and selling them to whatever fate they ended up with was commonplace. Rather than let that occur, Olivia ran because her father was the leader of the disgusting organization who made the decisions for people. When she met Phoenix (brooding tattooist), Liam (charming and free-spirited piercer), and Mercer (smuggler), the three alphas wanted her and they discover that Olivia is their mate. Will she agree to give herself to them? Will she have a choice? And will they all pursue their original mission to help Omegas escape their unpleasant forced destinies in this oppressive world?
This story is packed full of action and erotic scenes. The characters are interesting personalities that work well together. This isn't a story for public consumption. It reads perfectly well as a standalone story, and still ends perfectly aligned to blend in to the next book in the series. Overall it's a excellent Smut Read. I only wish it had a little more actual "romance story" written in with all the steamy scenes. Still... A great choice read for fans of Omegaverse, Supernatural Romance, Dystopian Romance, Erotica, Fated Mates Romance and Knot/Heat/Rut Animalistic Mating Kink stories.
This was a good super fast read. I like all things Alpha and Omegas, everyone needs a pack. The world was in shambles and people were not the same. Some became Alpha, Beta or Omega. And the world was after the Omegas and selling them to the highest bidder. Olivia was on the run away from her father who was the leader of the ACB. Phoenix, Liam and Mercer became a pack and decided to help Olivia only to find out she was their mate. Trusting each other to help her fellow Omega friends and take down the ACB.

Olivia just wants the freedom to live her life as an omega, but a chance encounter with tattoo artist Phoenix and a raid, followed by fleeing with Phoenix, Liam and Mercer, starts heron a whole new life. I loved the gritty feel of this world, with it’s oppression and it’s rebellion - plus resistance and eventual succumbing to hormones between Liam, Phoenix and finally Mercer, was just delicious. A great first story - it will be interesting to see where things go in this world.
I did like this before the weird instalove kept popping up. Olivia is such a great character outside of her alphas and the same goes for them, where their personality doesn't change much due to the heat and scent stuff. She becomes someone else.
The sexual content was alright. I couldn't finish this because of how fast the characters bonded and cared for each other outside of moral obligation. The story feels rushed like it could've done with slower pacing and maybe more editing out of some parts.
I liked the concept of this book, but the story felt a bit rushed. Everything was fast-paced and abrupt, so there was no time in the book to develop the relationship.
The world in the book was fascinating, but there wasn't enough detail to get me invested in this world. I wish the epilogue showed us a bit more of theIR Lives instead of a spicy scene.

I enjoyed this story, the world, and characters. It used ideas from other paranormal stories, but had a few unique takes on it. The showdown was anticlimactic because we got virtually no information on Eduardo. You need a good villain for a good story! A few grammatical and continuity errors here and there. The authors need better proofreaders! I recommend the story!
Interesting characters, interesting world building, and good development of the characters so you learn more at the right places. But so much more too know. Which will be included in the following books continued evolution of the characters, I assume. I would have liked a little more about exactly how the tattooing allowed omegas to pass as marked vs being marked since scent seems to be such a huge part of omegas, alphas, heats, etc.
This is the first in a series thay takes place in Solstice Bay where omegas are treated poorly, not revered. Olivia is trying to run from a ruthless organization called the ACB. She is helped by three alphas that she has an instant connection with. Sweet and spicy.
What a boring entry into omegaverse. If this had been my first one, I’d. ever read another. We’re the guys even given a description? The girl was a brain dead mess. She bordered on TSTL. I kept plugging away and finished it, but I won’t ever read the rest of the series or these authors again. I gave it two stars, but only for the fact that I did actually finish it.
This was a great start for a new series 😃. Bad regime that's taken over and doing bad things 😯. Lots of action, scary situations, intense emotions and interesting characters 😉. Thanks London & Cordelia I truly enjoyed reading this story and look forward to reading more 🤓.
I didn't dislike this book but I also had a hard time just wanting to finish it. I like the idea in this but, I think the story went too fast. The relationships with all the MCs are too quick and easy (might not be the right word). I think if the whole story was longer it would help. I think we needed to see more build-up with the MCs and their relationship.
This is a good read. Quick but has a good plot. I enjoyed the characters. It’s definitely instalove, as a fair amount of Omegaverse are. I still felt like the characters balanced it all well. I’m looking forward to the next book.
I loved how well written the dialog and the how hot the steamy scenes were written. You can't help but become so engrossed in this story thats its impossible to put it down.
This story had an interesting plot and great spice. The writing and pacing were well done. There wasn't a lot of focus on the characters, so there wasn't tons of character development, but overall it was a great read!
This book is so frustrating. It has such potential but there are so many plot and editorial errors it ruins the story. Definitely not worth reading until someone actually bothers to edit it which clearly wasn't done!
Im not a big omegaverse person, but this book was so good. It’s very insta lust and the plot revolves the main relationship. Im def reading the next one.
