First, I am a post apocalyptic junkie. Now that you know where I am coming from I will move on to my review. I give this novella 4 stars.
There is not much new in the way of zombies or the playing out of the apocalypse in here, but never the less I found myself thoroughly engrossed in this action packed zombie apocalyptic tale.
It had a few typos but nothing bad.
There is no one central main character, instead the author has created a decent cast of characters spread out world wide. Some of which I believe to be little more then future Zombie snacks while others are developing into a more solid role as the story progressed.
The pace has been steady with moments of intensity growing as the book began to wrap up.
Plenty of foreshadowing to let us know where things are going.
This story ends in a cliff hanger. I grumbled at that but then the title tells us that it is part one so we had to know it would continue with us still guessing. I will likely read the next book in this series.
I recommend this book to post apocalypse, zombie lovers.

Although I enjoyed the book, I had four main issues with it:

1. It really was just several short stories or novellas combined together, by alternating chapters between the different stories. I'm not a fan of these types of books, because by the time I come back to another chapter about a previous character, I've forgotten the details of that character and need to take some time to reorient myself to their story again.

2. There wasn't a lot of zombie action. Most of the story is about an apocalypse, and people dying from the virus. But not so much on those that have come back to life.

3. The story ends abruptly, without any resolutions of the various stories that were going on. This was not written as a stand-alone novel. By the time the next book in the series comes out, I'll have forgotten all of the characters and stories introduced in the book.

4. There was a "big secret" hinted at, but never revealed. At least not fully. Again, next book, I assume.
