“William Taylor Jr.’s poems speak to you, not at you, with grace and a deceptive gentle simplicity that will knock you on your ass.” —Misti Rainwater-Lites
William Taylor Jr. lives and writes in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. The Blood of a Tourist (Sunnyoutside, 2014) is his latest collection of poetry. He is a Pushcart Prize nominee and was a recipient of the 2013 Acker Award.
I love Bills poetry, how it doesn't hit you like a hammer, but like a light rain.... Every poem is just plain enjoyable with a mix philosophy, imagery and sense of place... He vividly paints the streets of San Francisco and pays homage to those poets that still haunt the folds of each day. Highly recommend this collection.
Another beautiful, sad, and haunting collection from William Taylor, Jr. He remains the king of existential angst, and his poems are so damn human that you just want to sit with him -- over a few quiet beers, maybe listen to some music and watch the world stumble by. Buy one Taylor book, and you'll likely be hooked!
