So I am slogging along reading this book and really thinking it isn't nearly as good as the first. That was until I got to Loc. 1095 on my kindle and Tristan did something so gross I had to just stop reading and say no more. So I am going to tell you what it was below so if you really want to read the book don't read below.

****SPOILER****

Okay, so Tris and Web have been traveling since early morning. Two plane trips and a meeting then being shown around a resort. They go to their room for a little sexy time, and we all love the sexy time. So Tris sticks his middle finger up into Web's bum, nothing bad so far, but then he pulls his finger out and smells it and then puts it in his mouth and sucks on it, then tells Web how much he loves the way he smells and tastes. Now I am all for little sexy gestures and I have read enough MM romances to know I have to be opening minded about certain sexy acts, but this was just gross. I can't understand what in the hell the Author was thinking when he thought this would be sexy. It was just crude and disgusting and I really want the visual out of my head. Hell, if I was Web I would have stopped and immediately made a doctors appointment for Tris and had him evaluated for signs of Pika, because unless they had showered and had an enema you know what was on the finger. Uuuggghh! I want to spit just thinking about it.

I am so disgusted that I am returning the the book for offensive content then I am going to shower and brush my teeth...twice.

Strangely, I loved book 1 so much that I gave it 5*.

The MCs loved each other as much as in book 1, they said at least a thousand times 'I love you' throughout the book, which didn't bother me at all.

Some reviewers mentioned about how disgusting some of the sex acts were in the books.
I agreed but those were not the reasons I didn't like the book. The beginning till almost the end of the book was ok. But the incident towards the end was just horrible.. horrible.. horrible! It's the reason of the 1* rating, which I didn't like it at all.

This story is part of a series and best read in order. Webber and Tristan are now a couple after realising their love for one another, they are facing the fallout from their business trip in the Caribbean. Webber is accused of misappropriation of business property and facing an investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and Department of Justice after discovering shading business dealings by his CFO Nathan Bridges. Webber and Tristan plan their new life together and begin with their wedding, but they still have hurdles to cross and they turn to each other for support.

This story continues on from where An Unconventional Courtship ended, but this story recounts the pertinent facts from the previous book so if you haven’t yet read it (raises eyebrow and shakes head), then this book is still easy to follow. Webber and Tristan face uncertainty and worry even though they know they have done no wrong, the support they get from their friend’s bolsters them and they begin to make decisions for their future together. The problem with Nathan is far from over and they will face heartbreak and loss even as they should be celebrating their new life together.

Scotty Cade has written another beautiful story of love, this time with added tension, new hope and devastating loss. Webber and Tristan are a committed couple now and Tristan supports Webber’s decision to begin a new life when the investigation is over, even though they know Webber is innocent, Webber still has fears that something will go wrong. Both these men are great characters and their love for each other shines through, as they plan their wedding with the help of Deanne, she becomes very close friends with Tristan and they are there for her during her pregnancy. Deanne is a larger than life character and we quickly take her into our hearts in this story, which is then callously ripped out and stomped on by the author (you made me cry *sulk*). Nathan lurks in the background trying to discredit Webber and Tristan reunites with his younger brother. We find out more about Tristan’s past and it is quite surprising, and for the life off me I couldn’t work out why Tristan kept trying to reach out to his parents and older brother, it puzzled me that after everything that happened he still wanted to have contact with them.

I have to recommend this story to everyone who loves bumps in the road, some unexpected danger, a beautiful wedding and an ending that will twist you up inside for its devastation and happiness, so keep some tissues handy.

This book has broken my heart into a million tiny pieces, but I am so happy I read it.

An Unconventional Union is the sequel to An Unconventional Courtship. This book gave us more Webber and Tristan. It brought us more of those amazing secondary characters. But it broke my heart and has left me feeling very emotional.

This book is after the marriage proposal, and yes they get married. We are introduced to Tristan's younger brother and his partner. We get to see more Webber and Tristan and we get to see a pregnant Deena. It made me smile how sappy this book was. I am always a fan of sap. I always will be.

The sadness in this book I predicted from a certain point. But that does not mean I enjoyed it coming true. It was so heartbreaking for me and I don't know why. I just hated that it happened. But the sign's were there. I just wished I had been wrong. So many times I wanted to ask why?

I wonder if there will be a sequel? In one sense I would love more, in another it wouldn't be the same. I will read a sequel though if it has these two wonderful characters. I would not miss it.

Highly recommend this for those who read the first one and loved it.

This is the second book in the series. The first book (An Unconventional Courtship) focused on the lead characters finally acting on their attraction to one another and starting a relationship. It was full of over-the-top romance but enjoyable.

This story however was just too sweet for my taste. In this book, Tristan and Webber plan their wedding. A lot of it felt like I was reading a travel guide or wedding venue brochure, with descriptions of rooms, garden, locations and food. I love romance and believe in commitment and fidelity but need a bit more excitement or spice to liven things up (there is a tragedy that impacts Tristan and Webber but it is not relationship drama).

I readily admit I didn't like this as much as the previous book in the series. For one, at times this felt like a travel brochure, especially during the Martha's Vineyard segments. It must be a beautiful place, I get it, but.... Secondly, not much seems to happen here throughout the story. When something finally does, it's dismissed in a few paragraphs. And thirdly, the big ugly surprise at the end threw me after a story filled with love and friendship and family. I was way disappointed. Still, Mr. Cade writes well, and Webber and Tristan are wonderful, compassionate leading men. I'm left to wonder if there's gonna be more to follow in this series, or is this it. I think a third story with a more upbeat ending might be in order.

Meh. It was just too much, too many of the typical plot lines. It reminded me of the formulaic M/F romances that turned me off traditional romance novels. I didn't mind the first one but this story just wasn't for me.

A nice continuation of book #1. Very sweet and romantic. One thing I didn't quite like though, there was too much repetition of events that happened on the first book. Up to some point it's almost like a stand alone. Other than that, a good HEA kind of story.

4.5 Stars. The end should have been longer, unless a sequel is in the works. The story is not finished at the point it stops, there's way more to explore!

One of the things I like about Scotty Cade’s books is that he never lets his characters suffer life’s misfortunate for very long…unless they are actually the bad guy. I’m still searching for the first book so since there are only 2 books thus far…I will know that everything is going to work out for Webber and Tristan. I hope that Scotty Cade has at least one more book in the series so that the ending won’t be left on the note that this one ended on. In spite of what has been hinted at…this book is just filled with joy and appreciation that these two characters have because they are together, finally.

Note ** this is the second book in a series that must be read in order, or you will be totally lost.

Webber Kincaid, CEO of Kincaid international and his boyfriend, Tristan Moreau are still getting used to their status as a couple while dealing with the fallout from the former CFO’s corrupt business dealings. Hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst, Webber proposes to Tristan, and the two set out to plan their dream wedding. Their lives are a characterization in chaos at the moment though.

Webber may or may not be indicted on fraud charges stemming from his CFO’s shady business deals. Tristan is hiding something from his past from his fiancé, and someone on the board of Kincaid international is not only less than pleased that Webber is now engaged to a man, but they are leaking secrets to the press. A short getaway to Martha’s Vinyard to check out a possible venue for the wedding turns out to be just what the doctor ordered for Webber and Tristan in the midst of all the insanity.

Life must go on though, and before Webber and Tristan can say their I do’s they will have to face the fallout back home. They are confident that having the truth on their side will vindicate Webber and clear him of any wrong doings, but the law can be fickle at times. And just when it seems that these two are going to get their happy ever after, tragedy strikes and jerks the rug right out from under them. The relationship is put to the test and you are left to wait and see exactly how many bodies fall in the end.

This book was a goddamn tear jerker, I was not prepared! I was literally on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Because of all the possible scenarios Cade has set in motion, you really have no idea where things will go in the final scene. I was laughing, then crying, then laughing while I was crying. I smiled, I screamed, then laughed and cried some more. Definitely a Kleenex warning needed for this book.

While the first book was sugary sweet with the suspense waiting until the end to make an appearance, this book was a more even balance of sweet suspense. Webber and Tristan exchange vows surrounded by their closest family and friends, with the most beautiful backdrop anyone could want for their wedding. I loved the suspense, the passion and the fact that Webber never stops romancing Tristan. Oh but that ending, sad panda!

Oh, yes, narration, right I’m supposed to talk about that too. Sterling is a great story teller really expressing that older, slightly sophisticated, southern esque drawl for Webber and then turning on Tristan’s more effeminate, flamboyant characteristics flawlessly. Like I said the story is sweet, suspenseful, romantic and sad. But it all comes together in the end and mix of writing and narration really make this one a must listen.

Hmmmm . . . An Unconventional Union is satisfying like good Chinese food . . . You finish it, and then and hour later you are hungry for more. All in all, however, despite its flaws, it is a good conclusion to the love story between Tristan and Webber that was first explored in An Unconventional Courtship.
So, here we are again with Tristan and Webber very much in love and trying to move forward with their relationship. The commencement of this story takes place days or weeks after the end of the last novel. Something is afoot at Kincaid International, and the SEC and the United States Department of Justice are going to find out about it. Apparently, a money hungry chief financial officer named Nathan may have been cooking the books on one of the company's acquisitions.
Well, after a suitable amount of unbelievably superficial investigation, Webber is cleared of all wrong-doing (despite the fact that he signed off on all of the government papers). At this point of the story -- I kept repeating to my lawyer-self -- "you need to having a willing suspension of disbelief, you need to have a willing suspension of disbelief." FYI, the SEC and DOJ are not nearly as forgiving of CEOs who do not perform due diligence in their acquisitions as this novel would lead you to believe.
Moving on -- Tristan and Webber get married in a lovely ceremony on Martha's Vineyard. We meet some new characters and learn a little more about Tristan's family. Ultimately, Web and Tristan leave on their honeymoon, which is disturbed by the hospitalization of the third main character in this book, Deanna. (She was Webber's beard in the first book.).
Without revealing anything about the end of the book, Web and Tristan's family ends up expanding by one by the end of the story. ANOTHER WILLING SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF NOTE: in the story, one of the characters suffers from placenta abruptio. Could we maybe have had a little bit of foreshadowing concerning the presentation of any of the symptoms of the condition? No unusual abdominal pain, no unusual back pain, no constancy between the contractions without any breaks? A little bit of foreshadowing would have solved the problem.
As always, the author has done a stellar job at continuing the love affair between his two main characters. The story is very romantic without being overtly sexual. Mr. Cade is so good at writing the romance, I wished that his editors and/or consultants would have been better explaining certain legal and scientific issues that occur in the book.
This book is good, but not like "An Unconventional Courtship" (which will probably never be beaten as a melt-your-heart romance novel). Overall, 4 out of 5 stars for me on the conclusion of these characters' stories.

I loved this story. The grammar and spelling were as usual, spot on perfect, the story and the dialog flowed along nicely; it was a smooth, pleasant read. I like his writing style. The men are romantic; the dialog could have veered off into bad soap opera, but it didn't. He kept the dialog interesting and realistic. The intimacy was tastefully done. Once again, you will definitely NOT read about twinks going at it in every other chapter of his books. Cade's novels are for the 'grown and sexy' set. The author managed to wrap up (and quite nicely, I might add) the situations that were left open in the first novel. I will admit that I was a bit put off by the ending of the first book; I really wanted to know what happened with these characters and the situations surrounding them. The disappointment was quickly erased when I learned of this sequel. My only issue with the book was the writer's tendency to be overly descriptive about trivial things that would have been okay with just one or two sentences. It wasn't a bad thing; it just caused the book to drag along in some areas. The writing style is strong enough to keep the reader engaged without the wordy descriptions. I also want to point out that all of his book covers are always beautifully artistic. Gorgeous men gracing the covers always manage to grab my attention. Reese Dante did an exceptional job with the cover. An Unconventional Courtship was the first Scotty Cade book that I read, but it certainly was not to be my last. I truly enjoy this writer's work.

An "Unconventional Union" wraps ups all the loose ends from its predecessor.

There were a lot of things I liked about this book:
- That Tristan and Webber have a relationship of equality - no role playing or more "masculine" partner. (I also like that they are versatile in the bedroom.)
- The relationship between Webber and Deanna is great. Lots of good banter between them.
- Tristan calls Webber out whenever Webber starts acting all "executive" in their relationship.
- The descriptions of Martha's Vineyard made me want to visit there again.
- Finding out more about Tristan's history and family.

However, I thought that all the issues they faced were wrapped up too easily. It was a bit too much easy HEA. Then, in the last 10% of the book a real tragedy hit and it was sad. But, it bothered me because it seemed like a great character (Deanna) was "used" as a plot device to get the boys something they couldn't get on their own. I was worried this might happen - hoping it wouldn't, but it did.

Overall, I enjoyed the first book in this series more.

First this wedding is a dream wedding for anyone. The time up to the wedding is filled with love and struggles. Webber and Tristan are together and in love. they are each other’s everything and you feel this come off the pages. Even though is part of their life is amazing. The rest is in chaos. Webber is under fire and Tristan is trying to help with all that is going on. Together they face the SEC and plan a wedding.

this is such a sweet book. We see how love truly conquers all and by building a relationship with the foundation of trust, friendship, respect and support for each other they are able to not only weather anything but also support and help overcome it all. They plan this amazing wedding and you just see the love exude from them. Their love strengthens as the book goes on and we see such intimate moments happen between the two that have you just love the journey they have taken to get where they are and them.

this is a book that shows us that love is precious and beautiful and with the support of your partner anything can be overcome and accomplished.

Unconventional Union by Scotty Cade is the sequel to Unconventional Courtship, which I reviewed a couple of months ago. I left off on that review wanting to know what was next for Webber and Tristan, so when the opportunity to review Unconventional Union (also on audio and also narrated by the fabulous Finn Sterling), I jumped in.

The Unconventional series is not the type of story you often see me reviewing here on prism. I tend to take the less, shall we say, formula romances, the lesser known authors, the less main-stream stuff, in general. That isn’t to say I don’t enjoy a good romance now and then. Union falls victim to many of the formula traps of the romance genre, but it does so in a way that you are not put off so much as comforted. If you have read Courtship, then you are probably head over heels for Tris, and you know Webb will take good care of him. This is that tale.

In my opinion, this is one of the best books by this author to date. Having read the first installment of the Unconventional series not long ago, I was already familiar with the characters. However, for those of you that are not as familiar or may have forgotten some of the first book, fear not, Mr. Cade did a great job of reviewing what happened previously.

I connected with this book in a very real way for several different reasons. True love, broken families, friendship, and most of all, the beginnings of parenthood. I felt that Mr. Cade handled each of these brilliantly.

This book made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, all the way down to my toes. While I loved the first installment of this series, this book is hands down the best of the two (in my humble opinion of course). I really really REALLY hope that we'll see more from Webber and Tristan in the future. (You hear that Mr. Cade?! I'm not too proud to beg!)

Thank you Scotty Cade for this beautiful and sweet story. The story of Webber and Tristan is a fairy tale romantic but does not save pain and issues, still this fantastic author tells of love and how it makes all right . Webber and Tristan frequentaly tell "I love you" each other and if can seem mushy, instead in fact it is true and right between two persons in love. I ask me how of plot is autobiographical ,sure the setting in Martha's Vineyard makes me think of,coincidence maybe, splendid place by the way. As we tell in Italy,The life don't all roses and flowers, so there is the poor Deanne ,but also this is part of life so also one fable can be a bit bitter, but read the books by Scotty Cade helped me in many sad and happy moments so it is always a joy reading them.

The story continues after "Unconventional Affair" with Tristan and Webber.  Webber and Tris have been lovers for a month. Webber is also Tris's boss and valued assitant and now his fiencee.. with 2 years of knowing each other and sercetly love'n from far no time is waisted now.
Webber company is being investigated from the fallout from Nathan's wrong doings. Webbs having thoughts of life outside. Things are about to get intresting  for the two of them and those of around them. Loved it..

I really liked this book even though it broke my heart the end. Webber & Tristain are deeply in love and learning how to be partners. I like that Tristain didn't blow up at Webbers over protectiveness & tendency to give orders. He just stood his ground & tried to get Webber to lean on him when it was needed.I had a horrible feeling about halfway through the book about a a certain something happening. When it happened it happened like it does in real life all too often, unexpectedly with devastating results. Webbers reactions were all too real. The book is definitely worth reading. Just be prepared for some intense emotions in the latter part of the book.

I really love Webber and Tristan! This book was romantic and sweet (maybe overly so in certain parts). There's a little bit of "I love you" overload too. I work in the medical field and the part where The author tends to go into every minute detail that sometimes the story gets a bit dragging in some parts. Overall, I loved the story and I'm glad the couple gets to have their HEA.

Wow, I just found Scotty Cade and am I glad I did. I bought this book then realized it was number two of a series, so before I read it, I went back and bought book one called An Unconventional Courtship. I love the two main characters and what they had to go through to start their lives together. I also loved being whisked away to a world I know nothing about, the world of the extremely wealthy. I had the money, I would exactly what Webber did to show Tristan how much he loved him. Go Webber!

I did not like this second installment..it was very predictable..I knew the moment deanna said she had papers in place to have the boys take gauardianship of her baby if anything happened to her that she would die in childbirth..I don't like being able to predict what will happen next when I am reading that kills the fun..Scotty Cade tells excellent stories but I did not enjoy this one as much...it was too perfect ..there was no wow factor..

Beautiful, touching love story.

I loved the first installment and didn't think it possible to love these guys more than I already did. How wrong I was! Tristan and Webber's love for each other grow even more throughout this journey, and while I saw the heartbreaking final events coming a mile away, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and falling in love with these characters while they fell deeper and deeper in love with each other.

Again, cheesy and fairy tale ish. Again over the top and a great in between we book. Was upset with something that happens at the end. Kind of guessed what was going to happen bc of certain things that certain character said through book. But IMO what happened to that character was not needed..

Oh well
