Dog Shaming

Rate this book
Based on the runaway web phenomenon (dogshamingdotcom), Dog Shaming features the most hilarious, most shameful, and never-before-seen doggie misdeeds.

Our dogs are our best friends. They are always happy to see us. They comfort us in our times of need. They also eat our shoes, stain our carpets, and embarrass us in front of our guests.

Dog owners everywhere have found their outlet in Dog Shaming, where they can confess their dogs' biggest (and often grossest!) sins, which turn out to be recognizably universal—complete with snapshots of ridiculously cute but shamed pups who don't seem capable of humping humans, pooping on pillows, or snagging steak straight from a grill.

So share in the shaming and laugh through your frustration as Dog Shaming reminds us that unconditional love goes both ways.

there are regular people, like you and you - who go to a bookstore and see a book like this, and exclaim "there's a book of this??"

and then there are people like me, the amish, and the mole people, who go to a bookstore and see a book like this and exclaim "there's a website of this??"

yeah, i'm behind on the times. so for all you mole people and amish friends who somehow found this review, look! a website!

http://www.dogshaming.com/

and i was going to take pictures of my favorite doggies in this book, with their shamed or defiant expressions, and the declarations of what they had eaten/destroyed/pooped on, but then you wouldn't buy the book! so i am just going to take some images from the site itself, which is probably also a no-no, but at least i won't be taking money out of their paws!! i suppose i could also just not use any images at all, but 1) what kind of a book report would that be??, and 2) then you wouldn't get to see any pictures of doggies!

like these!

and this one! shame! but who hasn't been there?

take note, cirque de soleil

this one has the best face ever

this one would fit right in at chez karen

this one, too

this is my dream dog. i need to be able to blame my lack of sociability on someone else's bad behavior

and since it doesn't make sense to have only one dog:

this one also goes in my shopping cart.

but not you. NOT YOU!

you have to stay out! bad doggie!

and while these are adorable and funny, the ones in the book are even better. start your holiday shopping early!

i leave you with this.

come to my blog!

Such a cute book. I saw a review of this one on GR and thought I immediately had to pick it up. I knew nothing about the blog from which this book came from. The book has pictures of dogs, some looking guilty, most not, with a sign indicating their crime. Some I laughed so hard at and few made me cringe. I have two dogs and can relate, I have one who just ripped a half box of tissues into millions of pieces....just because. The other probably helped, but I can't really be sure. I laughed afterwards. And this is what the book is all about. Shaming your dogs but seeing the humor in their 'crimes'. Probably more of a book for 'dog people' but overall, a quick, enjoyable read.

Ok so I'm a sucker for dog books, dog calendars, dog memes etc. This little collection of doggies behaving badly is really cute. The dogs are all adorable, beautiful and very photogenic. Kudos to their owners/photographers for the effort, because I know from experience how difficult it can be get a dog to pose for pictures. Most of my dogs hate having their photo taken, except for Harold and Ivy. Harold loves posing for photos and Ivy's too lazy to care one way or the other. While this collection was sweet and lovely to look at, I must say that the photos weren't very different from what one can find on the internet for free. Some of the captions were humorous but some were bland and not funny at all. My rating of this book takes into consideration both the beautiful photos and the funny element. I will rate the dogs and the beauty of the photos at 5 stars but the humour aspect will only get 2. That's why the final rating ends up at 3 stars. I have to add, however, that my favourite dog in the entire collection is the one whose photo is captioned "Cereal Killer". Lol.

So, this Dog Shaming thing is something I only recently heard about (from my boss), and then I read some cat humor books, so Goodreads started saying, 'Hey, look at this over here!' And my awesome library system has such odd things... So here we are! Or rather, here I am, reviewing this book for your book review reading pleasure.

What I am finding with all of these type of books (tree book versions of online phenomena such as I Can Has Cheezburger?: A LOLcat Colleckshun and How to Take Over Teh Wurld: A LOLcat Guide 2 Winning) is that the editors are usually not printing a 'best of' here. (They probably are not able to, due to permissions and such, I would imagine.) So while you get some very giggle worthy, very enjoyable reading, you are not getting the ones that make you wet your pants. (YMMV.) So with that disclaimer out of the way, I heartily recommend this. And I'm going to take a page out of Karen's review and decline to spoil any of the pictures of the book. Rather, these are some of my pug and puggle -centric favorites from the site.

Happy feasting.

description (Much more devastating.)

description Pugs are like that.

I collect books on dogs and this one was cheap from a thrift store. Really, I hate dog shaming. First most are not unique. They chew on things, sometimes expensive things, they poop and pee, sometimes at awkward times or on things you rather they didn't. The sometimes bite, most often people you don't want them to bite.. All these are normal dog stuff. I don't find it that funny, and usually I am bored that they are not something different. I also don't like a dog that appears to be receiving negative energy in the 'shaming' process. If someone told me about the respective behavior, or even written about it, it would be interesting, to me, putting a picture of the dog, the evidence and a sign is not enjoyable. Sorry for all of you who think it is. I guess it is a different type of book dealing with dogs, so maybe having one in my collection will be ok, or maybe I can put it next to the toilet for guests to browse...
Here is a few from it:

I am a cereal killer (with pictures of dog and chewed up boxes of breakfast cereal)

I like peeing in the guest bed at 2am when they are trying to sleep.

My Gram said ‘get off’ the pool cover, I heard ‘Go on’ so I pooped in the middle of it and she had to get a long pole to scoop it up.

Cute. IIRC, I think I was debating buying it (waiting for mom to finish at walmart), but finished before we left the store... lol.

I've been checking out Dogshaming.com on a regular basis for a couple years ... the pictures are hilarious!

Dog Shaming started one night when the author and her boyfriend, Mike, were in bed reading on their tablets when they heard chewing coming from under the bed. Mike reached out and pulled Beau (their rescue wiener dog) out from under the bed. They realized he'd been chewing on Mike's underwear. They burst out laughing and snapped a picture with a sign beside him and she posted it to her personal tumblr blog. Within 24 hours, people had blogged and reblogged the picture over and over. Then other dog owners started sending her pictures of their own dogs' shames, which she posted.

This book is a compilation of pictures of dogs and their shames.

If you are a dog lover, you should check it out! It's a quick but funny read.

Dog Shaming was a fun book to page through. I definitely noticed some of my own dog's behavior. It has full page pictures of the dog(s) in question along with a sign of what they do/did. Sometimes it has evidence of their misdeeds and other times no. My favorites are (of course) the ones with pictures of what they did to go with them and their signs. I love the expressions on their faces whether sitting next to the evidence of their misdeed doing their best to convince us they were the one's responsible by looking as guilty as possible (and in some cases not guilty at all) or just looking guilty or lazy or satisfied or proud.

Dog owners everywhere will probably recognize some of their own dog(s) behaviors and expressions in this book. I enjoyed it.

What can you say about a book based off of a website with pictures of dogs caught after the act of being bad?

How about, "laugh-out-loud funny"? Because it is. There is one picture per page, so this is a very quick read, but if you have dogs, or had dogs, or love dogs but don't have any right now, well, this is a great book for you.

Dog Shaming is the infamous Tumblr that eventually turned into this hilarious photo book. Since I have seen so many of the posts on the Dog Shaming site, this collection of photos lost some of its humor, but if you've never seen Dog Shaming before, it's a great collection.

Haha, there are some really naughty dogs out there! If I had to put signs in front of my three I would probably run out of paper. Danny's would read 'I chewed the u-bend off the toilet, ate a hole in the laundry door and buried the u-bend. Oh, and I stole an embroidered cushion off the old lady next door and shredded it. Sometimes I steal rubbish from the neighbours yards, by jumping colorbond fences. I love scaring Mum by shredding up snail bait packets and spreading it across the yard...' you get the picture! Robbie and Austin are angels compared to Naughty Danny. A cute book, I love anything that reminds me of my boys.

For a second this morning I thought a dog might be nice, then I read this book and remembered that no, I am definitely not a dog person.
The pictures are pretty fun, but it gets boring after a while. And while some make me giggle, I mostly just feel sorry for people with dogs and a bit angry. Also why are so many dogs so.... ugly looking? Yeah, I'm definitely not a dog person. If I ever get a pet it will probably have scales or something.

But I assume that if you love dogs this is a great book.

What's not to love about this book? It's a super quick book and so entertaining. Every page is just hilarious. A must read for every dog lover, especially owners who will totally relate to what some of these dogs have done.

The pictures are of course adorable. But this is not more than a twenty minute flip through so that is disappointing.

If you just look upon this as a book filled with pictures of adorable dogs, some of whom are indeed wearing very guilty expressions, you'll probably enjoy it. If you think too hard about it, however, it may angry up your blood and make you growl. Almost all of this canine misbehavior can be blamed directly on the owners. How hard is it to put your damned Jimmy Choo's where the dog can't get them? And, how is it possible that so many dog owners have never heard the adage, a tired dog is a well behaved dog ? These pooches are obviously NOT getting enough exercise OR attention.

My mother was an animal hoarder; at one time she had nine dogs, and not a one of them EVER destroyed the couch!

Anyway, my dog, Gus, is an absolute angel compared to some of these pups, but he has had a few past indiscretions:

I'm Gus. I once chewed a heart-shaped hole in the carpet.

And, my life would be so much poorer without you in it, buddy.

Love this book.
Brings back memories: My mother put a lucious roast beef on the stove to cool before slicing. She turned her back to prepare something else. It was gone. She asked me where I put it. We looked under the kitchen table, and there was Sheba our dog, guilty as sin. "Thou shalt not steal!" She had stomach upset from the hot meat for awhile.
But she recovered and lived to 14yrs.
And we had Mac and Cheese for dinner.🙄😄

Based on the website www.dogshaming.com. How many times have your dog(s) done something that made you stop and think. Hmm I wonder if anyone else has had to deal with this? Better yet, if this was a human child, what would I make them do? Though it would be considered mental abuse to place a note stating what a child has done and post it on Facebook (I bet they would think twice though). This is the next best thing and they don’t pick our nursing homes out!

Giggles Galore
As a dog mom of 11 years I have had a few of my own “Dog Shaming” moments. I think my favorite of this book was from PG 71 “I ripped a shrub out of the ground and brought it inside to my bed. -Ginger” with the photo of Ginger and her shrub, I couldn’t hold in the laughter. Pure! 10/10

my sister found this book in a deserted corner of the house and i was immediately thrown back to the tumblr/website that i used to rely on for happy dogs being their happy self. a lot of the photos have the same shame like "i eat 💩" and there was a lot about it that is very 2010's that i both loved and cringed. i love dogs so this is a win overall.

I used to read a lot of these on Facebook and while some are repetitive or cringeworthy (please help dogs to avoid these behaviours instead of ridiculing them!), some really made me laugh. With so many dog people being holier than thou, it's sometimes great to be reminded that we all struggle sometimes.

So what do you do if your next scheduled read is at the library and you cannot get to it for twelve hours? You find a book that requires no commitment and little effort. Hence: Dog Shaming. Which was a very funny bit of fluff by the way.

Sometimes you just have to take a break from the regular reading and enjoy some pet funnies. Many of these are really funny, and it is always fun to look at dogs. (I am guilty of loving the Dodo clips on FB). Pretty much anyone with a dog will relate to these, or at least one of them.

Good

This was pretty good for what it is. It even have me some ideas for my own misbehaving dog. Got to love pets that don't behave perfectly. Like shaming them is really going to work...

Short but funny. Dogs will be dogs and it is nice to see that others have the same struggle with their fur child.
