woah. this is actually one of the best light novels i’ve ever read. ( merry psycho 💯💯)
this is about this guy name saterious (idk how to spell it) and it starts off with him waking up in his mansion with his entire family dead and he’s all bloody and everything. suddenly. mysterious girl with a cat comes up to him, offers him a magical sword that’s a contract with the “lust” demon for the lust seven deadly sin. in order to seal the contract, he has to stab himself with it and the. boom he’s a sex god. not really but 😉. after this, we find out that it actually was HIM who killed his entire family!! oh no!!! didn’t see that coming!!! 🤩👍
ok this part i was honestly confused because there was a flashback but it was like before when he was growing up he was considered super ugly and he had this older brother who was super handsome amd stuff. his brother liked this girl with green hair, but so did saterious. secretly, the green haired girl, gumelia, also liked him but she was ashamed to show it out in public. ok this was written way after i read it so i kinda forgot what happened in between then and now so just fast forward again to the present 🌝🫢
now, saterious is staying with this girl named lukana and he lost his memories comepltely from his childhood. he stays with her for a while, and ends up growing attached to her and he falls for her. this is when he finds out that he has the power to make anyone of the opposite sex fall in lust with him. and this part went CRAZY cuz once he found out he had this power he went absolutely insane with it. he grew his own harem, getting girls from 8 years old to 68 years old. i am so serious i was so surprised oh my gosh. he even got one of them pregnant i believe. and since it’s a contract with the demon of lust, the only way for him to keep on having this power to enchant women is…to continuously have sex with them 😀
context for the contract: this is the first in the series wi5h the seven deadly sins, so it starts off with lust. each sin has a separate story in a timeline that happens in the same world but LONGGG periods of time in between. each sin has a corresponding object that’s used to like, represent it. for example, the lust demon was the sword and i know for the gluttony story its a wine glass(?) so yeah i am most definitely going to forget this when i continue the series thank goodness for reviews oml
AND THEN THE BEST PART HAPPENS so word gets out into the town that a lot of the women are mysteriously disappearing (they got kidnapped against their will and their memories are clouded with lust with venomania (oh yeah that’s his new name now (???))) so one of the men was like alright this is kind of insane what’s going on. he dresses up as a woman, and pretemds to fall under venomanias spell. this part was honestly funny because his internal dialogue while literally ALMOST GETTING PEGGED HELLo was kind of insane lol. so he goes on and is playing along and theyre about to have sex…at least venomania thinks he is (💀) AND THEN THE GUY (kaito) PULLS OUT A SWORD AMD STABS HIM AND SAVES THE DAY 🤩🤩🤩 it was funnier actually reading it pls this is not a good explanation
this was honestly so tragic like i felt so bad for him and it was really funny and emotional and heartbreaking all at once 😭👍👍👍 this is an entire universe so i honestly don’t know what i got myself into lol
i’m still waiting for a full explanation on the contract thing 😭

“I care about "Gumina", but I care about Lukana too. A rule like monogamy is idiotic. What's wrong with loving all the women you care about?”
and that’s how you start a harem get it i guess 🫢 for context he regained a bit of his memories about gumina the childhood friend. included in the harem were lukana AND gumina!! 😭👍

Sinetron!
Itulah kesan pertama saya setelah membaca novel ini.
Alkisah, seorang istri bangsawan melahirkan anak yang buruk rupa. Tidak tahan dengan kenyataan ini, perempuan itu menghabisi nyawanya sendiri. Anaknya yang buruk rupa disembunyikan dan diasuh di ruang bawah tanah, tanpa pernah diketahui oleh orang luar. Tahun-tahun berlalu, sang bangsawan menikah kembali dan memiliki putra yang tampan dan baik hati. Secara kebetulan, anak kedua ini menemukan kakaknya di ruang bawah tanah, dan mulai mengunjunginya secara rutin. Kunjungannya kemudian berkembang menjadi pelarian kecil-kecilan - membawa kakaknya keluar rumah untuk melihat-lihat dunia di malam hari.
Sang kakak kemudian berkenalan dengan seorang gadis - teman sepermainan sejak kecil adiknya. Dia memendam cinta selama bertahun-tahun, dan ketika mendengar pertunangan si gadis dan adiknya, hatinya pun hancur. Apalagi perlakukan si gadis padanya kemudian berubah 180 derajat. Didorong keputus asaan, dia menghabisi seluruh keluarga dan penghuni rumahnya. Ketika hendak menghabisi nyawanya sendiri, iblis datang padanya. Menawarkan jalan untuk memeperoleh yang diinginkannya. Orang yang mau mencintainya.
Sang kakak menjadi Tuan Tanah, Duke Sateriajis Venomania. Melupakan masa lalunya, kecuali bahwa dia mencintai seorang gadis.
Venomania mendapatkan apa yang diinginkannya. Dan berakhir karena nafsunya sendiri. Tidak menyadari bahwa orang yang dicintainya selama ini sebenarnya juga mencintainya - Kelvyn Venomania, dan bukan Sateriajis yang dirampas identitasnya.

Yah, tapi dilihat dari skill penulisan, saya tertolong karena Akuno-P mengalami peningkatan yang bagus dibandingkan Aku no Musume terdahulu.
Dan mengesampingkan endingnya yang miris, kisah pembuka 7 Deadly Sins ini tidaklah jelek.
Mudah-mudahan seri berikutnya juga lancar - dan lebih banyak ilustrasinya!!

It had very satisfying ending. I like how it ties different plots in a very rewarding way. I didn't like the main character, but he seemed consistent.
I was very astonished by the third-person perspective as opposed to different character's pov in previous books, but I think this change is for the better. It is hard to write interesting first-person narration, and I thing mothy's style doesn't benefit from this kind of narration, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a change.
Plot was really nice. It added a lot depth to the song and explained details. If you're interested in mothy's world this is one of his better books.

This was a good read! My favorite novel by Mothy so far.
One of the many strengths of this book was that the song it was adapting is rather vague, especially compared to the many songs that make up the Story of Evil. This allowed him to take many more liberties, invent new stuff without worrying about the plot, characterization or surprising the audience (because most of it was a surprise!) This story felt a lot more fully realized and less fractured than his previous works.
I also really liked how he played with the concept of the sin of lust in popular culture. Portraying the sinner as a man, particularly a man who becomes violent and abusive following rejection from a girl was something I really found refreshing and interesting. And, as always something I love in these books is how Mothy simultaneously horrifies you with unforgivable actions and presents a truly painful and tragic backstory for the character. This, alongside the themes of free will/fate and autonomy/manipulation was done really well here. Weirdly enough despite my low expectations going in this novel had the most nuance when dealing with these themes out of Mothy's books. The binary afterlife system set upon judgement and punishment? The confusion of the body and the soul in discussions of fate? The fact that almost every character misunderstands something critical and different in the book and never finds out and continues to make flawed decisions? Awesome.
Irina and Cherubim's weird friendship that neither one can even identify as such due to their upbringings was a little thing threaded through that I really enjoyed. Things I didn't enjoy include the treatment of Mikulia in the text. The description of her as mentally disabled, later expanded upon as general laziness, the book's insistence that she wasn't abused but wanted to be in the sex dungeon, and the fact that she's a teenager-- I don't really know what to say other than she is the one character denied depth and it's super uncomfortable. That being said I thought everyone else was interesting and fun to read about. All in all, nothing stunning but fun for me and better than the Story of Evil.
