generally, i like the premise of the story but i felt that it was too short. one event rushed into another and the next thing we know, Barton is all grown up and has grandchildren. i wanted a deeper look into the connection our protagonist made with the guardian of the oak and other magical beings he had the privilege to witness and encounter. as i mentioned earlier, one thing just led into another. there were wonderful stories within the story that were left untold and i wanted to read more about those. i have no doubt that children will enjoy Barton's tale but as an adult, i felt that i missed out on a lot of good things. i wish there were an expanded version for older readers in the works.
Sweet, light fun read for all ages and definitely a great read for the lil ones. I'd recommend this to my 9 year old without any hesitation.
Meet Barton a lil boy of 10 whose journey you follow to manhood. Follow him as he meets Zunarius, an old oak tree who befriends the young boy and watches him grow into manhood becoming a grandfather who tells of their friendship one day.
