The current correctional philosophy of intensive sentencing, incarceration and supervision fails to produce successful reentry programs reducing recidivism and calming the public’s fears of victimization. The challenge of prisoner reentry; the process of leaving prison and returning to society is examined in this work for presenting a more comprehensive solution than "Locking them up and throwing away the key."
