In the exact words of Dr. Strangelove,
He couldn’t be a father. He just couldn’t. He was selfish and arrogant and egotistical. Hey, he said it, not me.

He’s a consistent…When she calls to tell him he's off the hook.

It should have been what he wanted. He wasn’t capable of anything else—he’d just been telling Lydia the same thing. But a surge of anger welled up in his chest, washing over him with all the rage and power of a tsunami.

He’s a romantic…

“I think we should get married…”

Evie stared at him incredulously. He had them married and living at the beach with their surfing son all without a single mention of love.

‘We’ll do it just after the baby’s born. No need to inconvenience ourselves until necessary.’

Evie felt as if she’d entered the twilight zone and waited for eerie music to begin. He didn’t even want to get married until the baby had arrived—to inconvenience himself. Could he make it any clearer that this sudden crazy scheme had no basis in human emotion? That it wasn’t a love match?

He’s modest…

‘I’m not marrying you, Finn.’

Finn dragged his attention back to Evie and her softly spoken rebuttal. He snorted. ‘Don’t be ridiculous, Evie. This is what you wanted, isn’t it?’

More than anything. But not like this. ‘No. I told you, I can raise this baby without your help.’

Finn shoved a hand on his hip. ‘Evie … come on … I know how you feel about me …’

She gave a half-laugh at his gall. ‘I always forget how capable you are of breathtaking arrogance. Silly of me, really.’

‘Evie,’ he sighed, desperate to get on with plans now he’d made up his mind, ‘let’s not play games.’

He’s original

It’s not you. It’s me. …I am just not capable of loving anyone. Yes, he actually said, It's not you. It's me.

He’s considerate

‘It wasn’t stable,’ she said through gritted teeth. ‘My father just had enough money to buy the illusion of stability. Ultimately my mother was a drunk who came and went in our lives while my father put nannies in the house and mistresses in his bed.’

Finn’s mouth twisted. ‘Poor little rich girl.’ So Evie’s life hadn’t been perfect—it had still been a thousand per cent better than his had ever been.

Evie shook her head. He really could be an insensitive jerk when he put his mind to it. ‘I won’t be with a man who doesn’t love me.’

He's a sweet-talker…

‘Damn it, Evie,’ he fumed as his control started to slip. ‘This is not what I wanted. I didn’t want to be a father but it’s happening and I’m here. Do you think you could at least meet me halfway?’

Okay, maybe he’s not as stupid as he seems…

My fault, I’m afraid, little mate. Totally stuffed everything up there. Take it from me, women may be complicated but in the end all they really want is for you to love them. I’ve never been good at that stuff, couldn’t even tell your uncle Isaac I loved him until he was dying in my arms. You’re a lot like him and I promise I’m going to tell you every day. And hopefully I’ll get a chance to tell your mum as well. Trust me on this, matey, never make I love you sound like an afterthought. Stupid, stupid, stupid.’

Not sure why she fell in love with him as he is an aloof, arrogant and brilliant surgeon with big emotional issues? Unless she is trying to relive and fix her mildly disfunctional relationship with her unemotional father.

Dr. Evie Lockheart is a beautiful, caring physician. She has fallen in love with Dr. Finn Kennedy, a dark and brooding cardiothoracic surgeon and man-whore who is recovering from a serious infection that has left his hand useless. After their last round of lovemaking--more like just animal sex--she has heard nothing from him since he disappeared five months ago and she has important news to share with him. But how do you tell the man you adore that you're pregnant when he says he doesn't love you and in fact is incapable of loving anyone?

After trying everything Evie can think of to get him involved in her pregnancy she fears it is time to give up. She refuses to marry for any other reason than love and he tells her on a very regular basis that he doesn't love her. He is quite cruel about everything he says and does concerning Evie and blames it on his past. A past he has never really tried to deal with before.

Everyone who has ever read any of my reviews know that I detest man-whores and that is what our hero is/was. One strike against the book right from the beginning. It is one thing to be discreet about your affairs or one night stands but he did it so blatantly and could have cared less who all at the hospital knew. That is kind of sad.

I did get aggravated while reading this and had it been me, I would have dumped him and moved on with my life. What good can it possible do to practically beg to be loved and hold on to hope relentlessly. I have never read a book where the H is so purposely and profoundly cruel to the h. The way this loving woman is treated is reprehensible. The H is a coward of the worst sort, clinging to the pain of his past instead of getting help and moving forward. For me, it all just went on way too long, full of his angst, and her constant heartache because of him. How many ways can you think of to demean, hurt and humiliate the mother of your child?? Apparently many, very many. I became bored with the repetition of this jerk's behavior. He emotionally beat her down and I have no idea how she kept going on...still clinging to the hope that somehow he would love her and the unborn child. So, yes, I was disappointed with some aspects of this book that moved much too slowly and the constant flow of the H's disgusting behavior. Evie deserved so much better.

Towards the end it begins to get better but Finn had dug himself in so deep that in my books his redemption was incomplete. He still had a ways to go.

First book by this author and I'm looking for more.

The opening scene is explosive and it takes off from there.
Finn is a returned military surgeon, a damaged man and one of the best cardiopathic doctors in the world. Evie is a great doctor herself and they both met at Sydney Harbour Hospital where the sparks flew. But after an accident that leaves Finn without the use of his hand for a few months, he has to retreat and take stock of his life. Evie is the only one who can save him. The memories of his time in war and his brother's death which Finn couldn't prevent, ar things he has never spoken about before.
Then Evie drops her own bombshell - she's pregnant. Finn is devastated because it means more memories to sift through of his own absent father. He doesn't believe he knows how to love. But Evie knows otherwise.
This is a fast paced fabulous read and I truly enjoyed it!

I have always loved a good medical romance, as those are the kind that not only reveal a couple and their relationship to a reader but also have all the elements of a world of medical knowledge only known to those in the medical world, being unveiled to me as reader, which is by far better than any old medical drama show on tv!

Now as the title suggests it is quite the bombshell that Evie needs to break to the love of her life, being pregnant puts things into whole new light, only she is the love of his life too but he will not admit is as the hero of Finn is a big old emotional mess and has some serious issues that prevent him from loving anyone.

And there you have it, the perfect plot for great conflict filled, emotional baggage being unpacked read, add in the level of heat and passion this author is well know for, splash some medical drama in and voilà I had myself a awesome read!

The main characters were both memorable ones, as with Evie being the strong, supportive one getting to a point where she is the one needing to ask for help and support and with Finn being the one always needing support but never taking it and then suddenly realizing he not only needs it but also needs to return some of it was excellently written and captured my attention, that is also my dear reading friends why these two characters were matched up perfectly.

I loved how the author let the character of Finn unfold and gave me insight into his heartache and demons he was fighting but she did not just reveal and layer it back for me, she truly let the character of Finn open up like a good book. Giving me as reader that much more into his mind than what I usually see in books with tormented hero's. I also liked that in a way Evie is not the one to just safe Finn but in a way he also saves her, even though the hero is the one that really needs saving.

I was not so much impressed that these two bounced around each other for so very long before the bombshell brought them to a point where there was no return, but as I read on I could also see the reasoning from the authors side as to just why she lets it drag out before making the big splash!

The emotion the author packed into the past demons of Finn which in turn created his current torment was spectacular, she had me crying my eyes out and more than once I might add it felt as if my heart was breaking. A definite word of advise, stock up on the tissues you will need them!

The setting of the hospital was also very nicely incorporated into the book and it showed me the side of Dr's still just being human like the rest of us, they also get scarred to death and need to learn to deal with it.And the message of why Dr's do not make diagnosis on those they love hit home for me.

I feel that if I reveal any more than I will spoil this excellent read for readers. I am going to round things up by saying that if your a fan of the tv drama's such as ER and the love triangles, trials and tribulations that go with working in a hospital then this book is for you.

If however you love a good romance but not any life or death, underlining psychological issues or emotional upset than this one is not for you, and I suggest you pick up a non medical romance related book.

For me however, I loved it all and the author had me on chapter one!

Evie's Bombshell by Amy Andrews is the final book of the Sydney Harbor Hospital Series. It’s also one book that I have eagerly waited over twelve months to read and I am delighted to say this book by far surpassed all my expectations and more than delivered on its promise. I absolutely LOVED it!

Evie and Finn were first introduced to the readers in book one Lily’s Scandal and right away their stormy relationship leapt off the pages. Evie’s and Finn story is told throughout the course of the series ... in tiny little bits and pieces that always left me craving for more…Read More

I loved this medical romance. I have been following Evie and Finn's on again off again journey throughout the Sydney Harbour Hospital series.

And I was so looking forward to seeing what eventually happens to Princess Evie and her love for Finn!

I was pleasantly surprised by the way this author Amy Andrews tamed the ultimate alpha Doctor and gave Evie her happy ever after!

Well worth reading and highly recommended for all readers of romance!

I love many of this authors books, but this is my favourite medical by Amy Andrews so far!

Snippets of Evie and Finn's tempestuous story have appeared in the Sydney Harbour Hospital series, and I have to say that the author was taking on a HUGE challenge with Finn the irredeemable Doc. But she challenged and she conquered making this story steamy and emotionally sweet.

I had very mixed feelings about this one. I really wasn’t too keen on either of the MCs. The bones of the story was good but the execution was disappointing. For most of the book Finn was a pain in the backside and I loathed him. Could not understand why Evie would want him. Disappointed!

This is the first of the Harlequin Medical romances I've read and I enjoyed the characters of Evie and Finn very much! Finn is definitely not "easy to love" but somehow, along with Evie, you just do!

I liked how the story dove right into their in-progress relationship and felt the instant chemistry. But I did feel a little out of touch getting to know the many secondary characters, and I realize this is a "series thing" because I have not read the other Sydney Harbor Hospital stories. I didn't even realize this was #10 and by the time I did I was too into the story to stop, so that is saying something very good! I'm a little backwards in my reading, but I think I'll enjoy meeting the characters again in their own story.

The hero was a grouch and the heroine determined.I don't think anyone less determined would've won his heart. If it was me ... I would've left him long time back. A good story

I would have loved to see more glimpses of Evie and and Finn's relationship (I think they make several appearances in previous books, but alas, I started with this one). But the epic groveling made up for everything. I love how Evie didn't give up so easily on what she wanted.
