Becoming Mrs. Right

Rate this book
Shauntae Randall knows she's not smart or talented at much of anything, but she also knows she's gorgeous and can handle herself around a man. So, she's made a career of it. She thought she had struck gold a few years back when she was lucky enough to get pregnant by Devon Wright. She knew they'd get married, he would take care of her and her baby, and she'd be set for life. What Shauntae didn't know was that it's much harder to keep a man than it is to catch him. Now she's lost custody of the child and the child support check and has to go back to hustling.
Shauntae is lucky enough to get herself pregnant by Gary Jackson. She knows she has to figure out how to be a good wife to Gary and a good mother to their child to keep herself in his big, fancy house and his big, fancy car. She has to learn to talk "proper" and say all the right things at the right time. The absolute worst thing is that Shauntae must learn how to be a "church girl."
When issues with Gary's ex-wife and kids threaten Shauntae's "get married and stay married" plan, it's actually God that helps her out. Shauntae decides that instead of hustling God, she might want to get to know Him. But can an ex-hustler really shed her old ways and become a true Christian, and a good wife and mother?

Becoming Mrs. Right by Sherri Lewis
Amazon Headline: Romans 8:28
Life is messy; can we ever get it right? We can’t but God can turn things around for those who love Him by intercession of the Holy Spirit.
We do what we know, and if we don’t know better how do we become better? If you are Shauntae you reach out to your girls, study Clare Huxtable and keep it moving, that is until your heart begins to speak a different language. Talk, think and act right ummm is it really important or is being who you are enough.
Take a look at life or better yet at Shauntae’ she used the characters on television to help her become who she thought she was supposed to be, and then she pretended to know the Lord. BUT you better be careful playing around with whose you are because He can certainly make you His for life when you think you’re playing only for a moment.
Becoming Mrs. Right was an outstanding read filled with forgiveness, love and growth. We don’t have to learn lessons through hardships; God's Word is for correction and reproof a theme weaved throughout the characters. It’s been a long time that I’ve read/listened to a story and after finishing I wanted to thank the author and hug him/her, this story definitely took me there. I cried, I laughed and I thanked God for LOVING me and all the Shauntae’s in the world. Are you a Shauntae?

Loved this story of self discovery! It was a beautiful story of forgiveness, salvation, and family love. Shauntae may have started off shady & phony but, she ended well right into the loving hands of God! The love that He always had towards her...even in her twisted ways. She became real with God & herself. This helped her to do the same with her family & friends. Candy was a true friend. We all have some "Cherise" folks in our lives...some will choose not to grow w/you. Cherise was NOT happy for Shauntae's growth & better lifestyle...oh well, never allow someone's low level living become your choice! Always choose to grow & go w/God

I’ve decided not to finish reading this book. I get it, it’s fiction, and authors write all types of stories. But I have an issue with the fact a woman that isn’t Black American is writing “US-based fiction” with the most negative stereotypes about Black American women. First of all, she doesn’t live in the United States and does not know what life is like for us. So for the first few pages to be so disgustingly stereotypical? This book would be seen as racist if it was written by a white person. I understand that this book is fiction like I said, but the first few chapters left a bad taste in my mouth and I’m a HUGE fan of dramatic or “ratchet” books. This book is like if I wrote a book about Cameroon (where the author is from) and assumed every person there lives in a hut and has to beg for supper. That would be wrong right? I don’t get why the author couldn’t have written this story from an African perspective. Oh, I do know why. But this isn’t the place to have another one of those typical diaspora conversations.

I’ll pass.

Wow is all I can say about this book! I started with part one of the book which is called Finding Mrs. Wright. Then I read this one and let me tell you it was a complete page turner! Shauntae has changed drastically from the first book to this book. This book is about the power of God, power, struggles, prayer and love. I can honestly say it's changed my life to a degree. Beautiful story well written packed with a powerful message. Sherri L. Lewis you've gained a forever fan! THANK you for inspiring me.

Wow...simply amazing!

I originally selected this book for a single woman's book club and we didn't get a chance to read it. I took the time to read it recently and wow...I definitely had tears at the end. The grac and love was such a realistic depiction of God's grace and live for us. Not to give away anything, but in the end we have to rest in God's live and it will all work according to his plan. Thank you Sherri for such a beautifully written story.
P.S. Perfect book for a single woman's ministry, book club, etc..

I loved the ending! Everything worked out in the end and it was such a priceless book to read! I am really glad I stumbled upon this book. This is one of the best books I've read yet! You can't let your past stop you, you have to have no regrets, learn from your mistakes and grow from it with the help of God. There is nothing the Almighty cannot do! All praise due to the most high, and exquisite job on writing the book Miss Lewis!

I loved this book! I love when God does a whole transformation in a person's life and you can see how they are a new person. Not only that but the people that you wronged and hurt now forgive you because Jesus did. I love how the author flipped the script on the character Shauntae from the other book. I definitely didn't see this storyline coming! I look forward to reading other books by this author. 💖

This is a wonderful story about love and FORGIVENESS! I loved Shauntae's transformation. Her story is a perfect example of how God works within you and transforms your heart. She was a completely different person in this story. You couldn't help but to root for her.

Was suspecting a little more drama near the end and I'm glad I didn't get it. Loved that the grown-ups acted like grown ups at the end!

Wow, this book was really good. I love it. The romance, the man Gary was is very inspiring. Shantae's friends were GHETTO FABULOUS it was too much lol! Those girls were trying to get what they thought they needed and ended up finding what they truly needed. The message is very good. The only thing that kind of bugged me about this book was how stupid she made Shantae be. The girl was all looks and no brain okay I get it but not being able to cook is one thing, but not being able to scramble eggs, pancakes and turkey sausage was too too much! I was like what? There's nothing too cooking that simple meal I refuse to believe it can be messed up the way she messed it up. All in all it was a very good read and I do recommend.

This was a fantastic piece of work. I've always been told that "our mess is our message and our test is our testimony." Sherri Lewis did a phenomenal job in illustrating that compassion is good for the soul and that the blood of Jesus transforms. The characters were well developed and the story wonderfully told. Gary, Shauntae, Sherice and everyone else were shown in such a humanistic manner (no pretense...they were who they were). The message was clear: do not be afraid of who you use to be...be confident in who you have become. If you want to read an awesome piece of work that shows growth and transformation, support and encouragement, makes you laugh but angers you as well and the power of redemption....don't hesitate....get it now.

It was awesome!! Ok, so can I say, tears were just flowing non-stop! I laughed, cried, smiled. This book had it all. It was well written and a great read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Its amazing how God can work through all of our mess and make something beautiful out of it. I must say, I didn't care for Quartisha (haha) in the last book, "Finding Mrs. Right", but after reading this book, I grew to like her. She had a messed up past, but through a series of life events, God was able to transform her and heal her brokenness. Absolutely thumbs up! Definitely a must-read. Just be sure to read, "Finding Mrs Right", first!

I just finished, Becoming Mrs. Right by Sherri Lewis. All I can say it's been a long time since I've cried reading a novel. I first learned about Shauntae in Finding Mrs. Wright, which was such a great read. But, to see her spiritual transformation in this sequel. God is good and He can change, love and forgive everyone. I fell in love with someone named Quartisha, lol... God took her selfish motives and showed how if you get right with Him, He can set everything in your life right. LOVED LOVED LOVED it. The depth of the character transformation drew me in from the start.

I loved this book as much as I loved the first one. I am so proud of Shauntae. She have gotten her life together, a second with her daughter and a man that love her. This story taught me no matter how mess up my past is, that God loves me and he want to do great things in my life. Most of all he forgave me for my sins. I cannot wait to read more books by Ms. Lewis. If you have not read this book along with the first book "Finding Mrs. Wright then you need to get on it. You will not be disappointed, at all.

This book showed that with God's love all things are possible. When you are trying to do right you have to move all negativity out of your life. Shauntae had to experience all this and more in order to Become Mrs. Right. If you are looking for a good book this is the book for you.

Wow what a wonderful story of forgiveness and love. When I first started to read this book I thought I don't know if I will be able to finish this book. Shaunte and her friends were just a bit too much especially Sherice, but I kept reading and as I continued to read I could not stop until I finished.

Awe. I almost cried reading the last couple chapters. I was so happy for Shauntae and Gary. Sherice showed her true colors and Shauntae realize Candy was her true friend. It was a happy ending and one that I didn't expect to see.

While I enjoyed the first book, this book could not hold my interest for me to complete it. Shauntee and her friends antics and lies got a bit redundant.
