Two brothers . . . Two different sides of the law . . . One hustle. Derek Fuller and Scar Johnson were separated as young boys in the Baltimore foster care system. When they finally reunited, it didn t matter to them that they were operating on different sides of the law. Derek was a cop, and Scar a notorious drug dealer, but family came first, and these two formed a partnership that was bound to make both of them very rich men until Scar realized he couldn t keep his hands off Derek s wife. Tiphani Fuller may have been unsatisfied by her husband, but she never expected to fall for her brother-in-law. Now she s in over her head, doing things that make her no better than the criminals she sees in her courtroom. She s using her new position as a circuit court judge to feed information to Scar and his Dirty Money Crew so they can go on a crime spree with no fear of prosecution. Throw in a cast of characters including an ex-convict who ll do anything for love, a detective who s hell-bent on revenge, and a mayor who breaks more laws than the criminals on the streets, and you have a story that could only come from the mind of Treasure Hernandez. In The Baltimore Chronicles Saga, there is no difference between the bad guys and the good guys. Everyone has an agenda, and every page is full of lust, lies, revenge, and murder."
I really enjoyed the book. Being from Bmore it pretty much kept true to the under world and political corruption that was going on. I was disappointed that Day killed himself but ecstatic that Derek got his kids back. Since I read all kinds of books I would suggest it to anyone. Well done. Does not leave you disappointed.
The story line was okay but not really my cup of tea. This was a volume book so it made it appear redundant in particular with the story line. The story seemed dragged out but agin it may be due to all book volumes made into one novel. Overall okay but it struggled to hold my interest.
This author did awesome job with this book great series. I enjoyed every page of this book. I enjoyed the way it ended. All together this is a must read.
Okay okay so finished this after reading a crazy lyrically written novel wrought with symbolism and hidden meaning and I just wanted to read something light, interesting and readable and got all that in this one, did I grow from it no but it was just like reading a hip hop trap music video for over four hundred pages LOL but to its defense it was four volumes in one. So the reason I stuck through this book and got so intrigued has to do with a library discussion of course as I was perusing the Urban literature section and got in a debate on the best authors out: Ashley and JaQuavis, Treasure Hernandez, K’Wan, T’Styles, Nikki Swinson, Traci Brown and others and I realized I hadn’t read anything by Treasure Hernandez yet but have heard a lot about her Flint series from random reviews and recommendations so I decided to overdose and read all four of her books in a row in a series about grimy murderous B-More…It was entertaining as it had its twists and turns and characters that live it out and those that tragically die too soon, betrayals, murders, jealousy, sex, drugs and a little political scheming and all in all I am glad to have spent a few days in the hood world I am way too old and educated to read about but indulge in anyway however I may have overdid it for a while reading all four back to back..Okay so the first volume sets the scene of two brothers separated as children due to an abused mother and troubled childhood in the foster system who reconnect and try to be cool again despite one being a cop and one being the biggest drug lord in Baltimore..Deciding family is stronger than laws and ethics they work together to get the cop Derek recognition on the force and the criminal Scar to move his product on the street with minimal police interference or a planned bust and swift release. All was well and the brothers seemed to have a good thing until Scar started having an affair with Derek’s wife triggering a beef and a war that takes a lot of people down, involves lawyers, cops, judges, the mayor, the police Chief and a gang of street soldiers..There were plenty of the requisite gratuitous sex scenes, the senseless violence and sigh grammatical errors but there was also a compelling story that carried the book as you just had to know who would come out winning Derek or Scar and with all that has been done and planned and happening who was really the true villain/criminal and at times I was conflicted on who I wanted to win LOL..Overall I am glad that the guy who was left standing got his spot as he stayed true the entire book, Scar actually showed true evil and grit and Derek though flawed and revengeful was a favorite of mine too..All in all I probably would recommend it though in my eyes its not as good as the Cartel books but up there as a good series though, one day I gotta read the Flint chronicles too..hmm whats next…
I enjoyed the saga although it slowed down a lot by the 3rd book. I listened to the audiobook (17 disc) and I found myself not caring about how it ended but too invested to just stop listening.
Scar and Derek are long lost brothers who work together to take over Baltimore. When Scar sacrifices his relationship with his brother, things take an ugly turn and Derek begins to use his power to take down his own flesh and blood.
Very good hood story keep me entertain at a time when I needed to be somewhere else. I really enjoyed the corruption and the unbelievable lack of loyalty
This was a pretty good read. It kept me interested and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. I love that this sage encompassed all four volumes of the Chronicles!
