Holy crap! This book just made me want to start pulling my hair one by one. Just to prolong the torture... Cause well it just seems worthy of the read...
This is my guilty pleasure... It was soooo... Hmm..

Photobucket

Fantastically Torturous and I could NOT put it down!

Before reading the book:

Ooh a historical romance about pirates... Lets give it a try

Photobucket

Few pages into the book:

Photos? BIKINI? iPhone???? Lol

Photobucket

Jane is a Russian(?) Princess whose life is all planned out by her parents. Get married ASAP and start popping out royalty babies. In an act of rebellion she sneaks out to a pirate run bar that is practically attached to the palace? HUH??? How crappy is the real estate in this part of Russia? My Russian blood is having some rage issues on that one...but whatever moving on.

The pirate bar is run by a real authentic "true blood" pirate and hunkalicious, broody, volatile Jax, who has his own ship and crew. Really cool! So he is her boy next door... who is a PIRATE! Wow!!!

Photobucket

She is taken under Jax's wing and gains approval from his crew sooo fast your head will spin. But the crew is eccentric and super friendly and hot. Seriously how can I get on this ship???

Jax and Jane chemistry is so sizzling and volatile. They run hot and cold, from passion of fighting to *wink, wink* passion. They are both jealous and immature to the extreme. They run from each other, they run to each other. It is sooo deliciously insane. I love it and hate it at the same time.

Jax gets on my nerves with his constant speeches about telling her not to fall in love with him... CONSTANTLY!!! But yet, it is a love story and in love she does fall and troubles begin.

He is a pirate, and that isn’t some fairytale character, it is real, he is real. He is dangerous, deadly, and I am madly in love with him.

This book has everything and I mean EVERYTHING... It is paranormal, it is erotica, it is angsty, it is horror, it is a love story (a messed up one but s'il la vie). There are cursed object, cursed people, mythology, magic, all ranges of human emotion in every page, kidnap, bitches full of jealousy, real pirate ship take-overs, danger and gruesomeness of human nature to inflict pain both physically (seriously there is so much slapping going on I thought I was watching a day soap) and emotionally.

“If I was not screwed up the way I am and had not been burnt, you would undoubtedly be a girl…I would fall madly in love with.”

Photobucket

There were so many funny lines but here are my Favs:

“Let’s go before Captain whore-a-lot over excites himself. We wouldn’t want a case of premature dustulation.”

Jax makes love to me half the night. He is a war horse; he just goes and goes, over and over until neither of us can take anymore. By morning, I am burning in pain down below. I know in a few hours; I will be fine, but from the hissing sounds coming from the toilet, Jax won’t be. When he walks out, I give him a sympathetic look.
“Are you hurting Jax?”
“Barely got any skin left, fucking hell how many times did I go you Jade?”
“Seven, eight? I don’t know. I feel it too.”

However, SOMEONE PLEASE!!! Edit this book! I suck at writing (hello check out my "fabulous" reviews that is the post-read vomit of my feelings on the book) so for me to notice silly spelling mistakes it's saying something. I'm sorry if I come out critical or negative about it, but it's just how it is. On the positive note, it is a fun and enjoyable read, that even if I had a chance to un-read... I would not take it. I will repeat again I TRULY ENJOYED IT.

If by some chance the author actually reads the reviews... I love you! Please don't kill me :)

Now moving on to book 2...

I am ready! Ooooooh what will happen next?!?

Curse me! Many golden stars worth of love for this book!

Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirates life for me!

Here is my rugged pirate...mmm
Photobucket

I've found my new obsession! Move along Vampires, nice try kinky Billionaires, step aside Rock Stars...give me my damn PIRATE!

WOW this book was totally off the wall, I've never read anything like it! Pirates, curses, treasures, ships, immortality, unwordly powers, and Greek gods! All in today's times, not written in the 1800's. Like Jack Sparrow but totally badass and X-rated!

I have to shamefully admit. The first part of the book had me a bit worried. So much happened in the first few chapters, I wasnt sure how the rest of the book would play out. Luckily, I was NOT disappointed! I just loved this book, and I can't wait to sink my teeth into the next two books! It did jump around a bit, some parts were fast paced but it never gets boring.

I don't have a lot to say about Jade. The book wasnt meant for you to fall in love with her, so she was just ok for me. Her healing powers were neat, she fought a good fight, but she was stubborn and pissed me off every time she pushed Jax away or doubted him.

But Jax, OMG, he was BADASS and stole my heart...then broke it into tiny little pieces (more than once). A ruthless Pirate with a curse. He warned her from the start, "Don't fall in love with me" but she didnt listen (and neither did I). Powerful, charming, strong, relentless, and God Almighty he knew how to fuck! He's my new book boyfriend!

THIS BOOK PISSED ME OFF!!! First of all, Jade is the worst heroine EVER. Completely unlikable. She's EXTREMELY immature, gets in jealous fits ALL THE TIME, and she acts like Jax owes her something, even though he never promised her anything. Like, she only knew him a few days and acts like she has some sort of claim on him???..umm..HELLO?!?!? he's a friggen' pirate! what did she expect?? Him to be pussy whipped the second he sees her? She acts like she's deserves the world, says she loves him the way he is but she is NEVER happy with him. And whenever a woman hits on him, she goes CRAZY!
Now, don't get me wrong, Jax did his fair share of pissing me off too. He would tell her all the sweet nothings and his actions were the exact opposite. It's like he kept changing his mind over and over and over again. It got quite tiring.

Honestly, I don't think Jade is the girl for him. Seriously, I think he needs a woman that isn't so insecure and childish. I don't know what he ever even saw in her...she's pretty and innocent? I'm pretty sure he could find someone else with those traits who ISN'T batshit crazy.

Ok. I'm done with my rant.

When I first started this book, this is what I was expecting to imagine...

I mean give me some credit, what's the first thing anybody in this time thinks of when they think of pirates. Yes, Jack Sparrow is hunky in his own quirky way, but take it from me for everything it's worth, JAX WATTS IS NO JACK SPARROW.

I imagine he looks a little more like...

Hot right?!?!?!

When the story first starts, there is a real life princess. YES, Lives in a castle, Russian Princess. She is "gifted" and her parents refuse to let her outside of the castle walls unprotected. She is then notified that she is to marry James, for whom she hates, and start having babies with him within a year. When Jade is notified of this she rebels and runs with her friends to the pirate bar right outside of her walls and meets Pirate Jax. At first meeting there is a fast friendship. She feels herself being drawn to him and leaves only for him to ask her to come back. She's reluctant but after being slapped by her dad and her future husband she runs to Jax. There relationship starts as only friends. Believe me right up front Jack announces he does not do love and not to fall in love with him or he'll leave. I say this now because he reinstates this fact a little more often than not.

So, things start between the two, with a couple conditions. Things are well until, you know, pirate takes princess virginity, turns out pirate is a pain whore, princess is told she has a week until she has to marry dickweed, pirates welcome princess, HEA, wait not so fast, PRINCESS FALLS IN LOVE WITH PIRATE, oops. You know what that means. Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirates life for me.

So, somtime passes, TWO long years, I can't give all the details, it would ruin the book but princess runs away. Low and behold she runs back into Jax. This is quiet an eventful reunion but good times appear again and pirate and the princess are back on good terms. You know a few cat fights, a day at the amusement park with some burgers, a night out, a little jealousy, some hefty confessions, some loving. AHHH, this, this is when I really really got into the story and just couldn't stop.

But you know, when a princess runs away or is missing, well people are going to come looking for her. So, now there are a group of mostly loveable pirates on the run with a princess in tow who is running away from being married to a life she doesn't want. That's pretty bad right? Right, however that isn't the only things stirring up the seas. Bring in enemy pirates, missing treasure maps, curses, betraying wives, jealous women, these two just can't get a break or can they? I spill no more.

This book was just completely different from anything I've read. Completely different from what I expected it to be. It was just amazing in a crazy way. Jade and Jax fought like cats and dogs. One minute these two are all over each other and the next one of them says or does something stupid and the other goes crazy. I will warn this books ends in a cliffhanger so have the next book available. Also, there are major editing issues. The story was good enough I could look over them, but the lack of contractions sorta drove me insane but I ended up getting so wrapped up in the story I mentally just made the words into each other and read on. I absolutely loved this crazy messed up couple. I can't not wait to start the next book. Ahoy matey!!

What the hell did I spend a couple hours on? Seriously, what I thought I was getting into was historical romance maybe with a twist of paranormal... but this was NOT it. Set in the present with cell phones to boot, there is a very needy/annoying/irritating Russian princess who really isn't, a couple of boat loads of Pirates, Poseidon the Greek God, treasures, curses, gifts, mixed in with abusive screwed up families and an ex wife. My only thought in this discombobulated mess was that perhaps, this was trying to be a blend of the entire POTC franchise set in the 21st century???

I am still trying to figure out how this book has averaged 4 stars, I feel VERY generous with 2. On the Smut Level: None. Other than the Pirate getting off on a little pain, this very vanilla book's risqué scene involves *gasp* doggy style and a couple of BJ's. There is a rape scene that is alluded to as well.

Yeah, this just wasn't for me.

I am speechless...At a loss for words. How do I express my feelings for this book?

How do I explain how freaking different it is from anything I've read?

How do I come to love and hate Jaxx, a character do dichotomous it hurts to read his story?

All I know is I really liked this book! It was so complex and full of twists and turns, it bloody gave me whiplash!

Pirates, princesses, kings and ancient sea gods a bound, my God! I am so torn up right now!

Jade and Jaxx. How can a couple be so fucked up yet so right for each other? Their turbulent love is legendary. One minute everything is gold, love, laughter and tons of hot sex!
The next minute they're screaming at each other and slamming doors or crying. Damn, a girl can only take so much you know?

I can't remember how many times I went from loving Jaxx to wanting to kick his balls into next week! The man is a fucking riddle and once you think you got it figured out he messes it up again! GEESH! WTF?!

Jade I found to be difficult at times. But with all the confusing shit she was dealt from Jaxx I'm surprised she stuck around.

This story was hard to put down. I felt so heavily invested in these characters it frightened me. And not just Jaxx and Jade. All the secondary ones were cool as well.

This book left no room for judgement. I was whipping through it like my life depended on it and now I'm off to read the second in this series, Betrayed. I can only imagine what the hell will happen next. Be still my crushing heart!

HOLY HOT PIRATE!

Damned is a crazy sexy ride of pirate soap opera. Just when you think we've come to the end of the ride we take another bone splitting turn to the next hot sexy crazy.

Jax was our bad boy pirate, Jade his "good girl who wants to go wrong". Like all good soap operas the two main characters do everything in their power to muck up things on their own so all the parents sending in the troops, kidnapping, near death experiences, attempted murders and exes popping out of the woodwork might seem like overkill... but someone the author managed to pull it off without making me want to strangle anybody.

Okay... I wanted to shake Jade a few times. Hard.

And I wanted to smack Jax in the back of the head more than once. Or shoot him. But what a waste of Hot Man Pirate... sigh.

Overall.. I will be moving on to the next one even though I'm pretty sure Jade and Jax are going to drive me crazy with all their push and pull and run and chase and hate and love and for the love of god just STAY NAKED ALREADY!

Pirates, a Princess and monsters, OH MY!

Wow, this book took me by surprise. It's a story about Jax, who is a Pirate, and Jade, who is a Russian Princess. Jax is a hot, sexy, captain of a crew of lovable, loyal men, who when they're not searching for treasure out on the open sea, happen to run a bar next door to the palace where Jade lives. Jade lives a sheltered life and is being forced by her parents to marry a man she despises. When she meets Jax she falls hard and fast for him and agrees to have a sorta "friends with benefits" relationship with him. The one thing Jax warns Jade about when they agree to this relationship, is to not fall in love with him or he'll pack up and leave. Well when you're having sex with a hot, sexy, alpha pirate like Jax, how could you not fall in love with him? I'll just say a whole lot of shit and drama follow soon after.

I loved the story and read it one day. I laughed, got VERY frustrated and even a little teary eyed. I'm soo looking forward to reading the next one cuz this one ended with a WTF moment.

I came across this series and was so intrigued and although some reviews were sketchy, I still wanted to give it a try. Oh Lord- am I glad I did!!! :)

This book (despite needing a GOOD editor to correct the grammatical and spelling errors) is AWESOME!! If you can get past those, you will really enjoy it- it’s one crazy ride!!!

The H/h are beautiful, sexy, CRAZY, damaged, spoiled, CRAZY, obsessive, possessive, CRAZY, stubborn and did I mention CRAZY??? :) They fight, they make up, they split up, they can't stay away from each other. It's great!!

The sex is so damn hot and honestly, with all the other drama and cast of characters (that are all nuts as well)- it still feels real! I laughed and cried and loved every minute.

This book does end in a cliffhanger, so be prepared with book 2. And I also hear book 2 ends in a cliffhanger, so I’ve already got book 3 downloaded and ready to go as well!

I can't even describe how annoyed, angry and downright disgusted with this book. This definitely wasn't and will never be my cup of tea....It had a great potential, but it was just ugh. Too much drama, stupid heroine and equally stupid hero....the only thing that kept me going was the secondary characters...

This book I loved till half way up to that point it was funny, witty, the characters and environment was interesting and kept me page turning BUT then sadly it got repetitive it was good but they would get frisky and argue about " I love u ...he can't give love" there are other women etc etc ,that's about it with the occasional action scene it was good but I am so so annoyed because it finishes in a way you need the next books to finish the story which you CANT get in any format book or EBOOK on amazon ,kobo or nook etc so am a bit peed off about that ,,,but if you like not having a happy ever after and half the story then this book is for you I don't like buying book one and then book 2 and 3 being discontinued???????

I'll be damned, that is one hot book cover! That and the idea of a pirate story attracted me to this free e-book. I love when a book hooks me in immediately, but unfortunately that was not the case here. I struggled with the first half of the story, mostly because the writing (which was done in the first person) was stilted and abrupt. The conversations between the main characters seemed forced and didn't ring true for me. Once I got past the first half, I felt more interested in the storyline. The ending has left me wondering what happens in the second book in the series. This book is for you if you like D-bag pirates!

This book was bizarre. The world building left me scratching my head. Wooden pirate ships, Russian princesses, magic, Gods, and Iphones? There just wasn't enough information to make it all mesh together effectively. And the h was awful. She whined and screeched and threw fits and yet everyone in the book adored her. I felt like I was reading someone's dream diary.

Ms Botefuhr's books always seem to need some major editing when I read them. And while the stories have the potential, her story telling annoys me in some form or fashion. So while I have a couple more of her books, I think this is my last dip into this author's writing.

Man oh man am I glad I found Bec Botefuhr! She can weave a story like no other that keeps you on the edge of your seat never expecting what is coming around the corner.

Now to Damned. We meet Jade, a Russian Princess, who is engaged to a man she does not love, parents that do not understand her, has a healing "gift" and virgin. She sneaks out of the house and walks over to the bar that is next door to the kingdom. When her eyes meet Jax Watts, she's a goner.

Jax Watts, pirate, is sexy, tattooed, muscles (with the sexy man V)and above all else....a ladies man. The banter back and forth between the two intrigues Jax to no end. The more they get to know one another, the more Jax wants Jade. Except he doesn't do love. Oh no. If love is even mentioned...he runs like he has a rocket up his butt...far far away. He warns her not to fall in love with him because if she does...it will end.

Jax is the typical alpha male but has a secret so to speak. He's cursed from touching a treasure long ago. Kind of reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean. But Jax is no Jack Sparrow ladies...

So Jax and Jade becomes lovers and yeah she falls for him HARD! But, here's the thing....Jax falls for her as well even if he fights it. When she tells him she loves him...BAM...its over. He closes the bar and leaves Jade with a Dear John letter. She is devastated but what's a woman to do...she carrys on.

Fast forward two years....yes that's right TWO YEARS...Jade is married to that man she doesn't love but on the condition that he not force her to get pregnant until she is ready. Meanwhile, he is having an affair with a maid at the palace. Does Jade care????? Hell no. But, the parents want an heir and put pressure on the couple. Jade has also found her a man on the side and he leaves for America leaving Jade devastated once again.

After over hearing her husband plotting to kill her by an accidental horse thrown, Jade runs to her parents to tell them. Do they believe her. OH hell no. She does the one thing she can do....she runs away. Sneaking on a ship that is bound to America. Well at least she thought it was. While out at sea, the ship is overtaken by the one and only man that has never left her mind. Jax Watts. And now their adventure begins....

Jade is immature a lot throughout the series but the love between her and Jax is never ending. They go through a lot to be together. Trust is something that is constantly tested and love is the one thing that will always bring them back to one another.

Surprise, surprise, surprise!
This series came out of no where! I am in love and slightly obsessed with the books of Bec Botefuhr's The Pirate series and book one was an amazing start. The world and characters the author created was just plain addicting. The plot was edge of your seat good with enough romance and hot scorching sex scenes to make me melt, as well enough action and adventure to keep me coming back for more. There was also a paranormal aspect to the story that just made it even better. There was truly nothing I didn't like about this book and series.

It has everything I love in a good book...
Hot pirates, mouth watering alpha male, innocent princess turned badass, curses, amazing characters, steamy sex scenes, amazing plot, angst, drama, jealousy, hate, love, and action.

The only complaint (if you even consider it a complaint) is that I wanted to punch the hero so many times I almost threw my kindle. And the same goes for the heroine. Their love story definitely wasn't perfect. It had more downs than up's and was definitely put through the ringer. I had a love hate relationship with them both in book one, two, and three. I couldn't get enough of them though, so that says something!

Seriously, I could go on and on because there was just so much I love about this series. And this book, book one, was a strong start into the series. At this point I've read all three books and they are all setting on my favorites shelf. If your looking for something different but has a little bit of everything, then I'd give this one a go. I would highly recommend it. It's so worth it. I will definitely be looking for other books by this author, she has a crazy imagination and a writing style that I enjoyed.

When I read the word pirate this is what I had in mind.

Well, part of them are true, the rest.. Not really.

I actually intrigued with this book. But after I finished reading it, I was surprised and not in a good way. Mostly because there are some parts that a bit weird for me. The heroine, Jade, is princess of Russia. Therefore, I keep thinking that this book is a historical romance. But, there are phone, computer and text messages and phone call that have been mentioned in this book so obviously, this book is not historical. For me, it's confusing.

Not to mention the storyline itself is overwhelming. There's just too much going on in one book. Jax is going hot and cold all the time, I almost thinking that he has mental disorder. Jade, is pushy and whiny. She acted though, agreeing with Jax's condition yet she went all clingy. Girl, he's not promising anything to you! Not to mention the ability that Jade has, the healing thing, I'm surprised why the author put the twist in the first place. It's not really important and just wasting a paper. The 'curse' of Jax too. Again, the author tried t grasp everything and put them all in a book and that's just made this book pointless.

So yeah, overall this book is confusing to me. I don't like the ending, not sure if I want to continue the sequel.

When i first started the book the plot and characters were a fresh mixture of humor mixed with suspense nd adventure. Yet as the story progressed i felt like it would take dramatic turns nd run on and on and on and on (you get the idea). Im not even a little bit interested to read the 2nd book bc of the quickly escalating plot that takes a turn for the worse whenever possible.
Jade has a uniquie personality that makes her stand out, yet her quick trigger emotions were outrageous towards the end when she repetively would burst into angry sobs over an issue that had just been discussed.
I was not even remotely turned away by the horid evnets the main characters Jax and Jade experienced but by the end when both characters were quickly angered and would argue over redundent topics i had finally had enough.
But to each his own this was not my cup of tea so if anything read it for the pirates

my God, with this book, don´t even think about taking a break!!

From the very first line, you know this is not going to be a narrative story, you just go on and live the action (and there´s plenty) with Jade, Princess of Russia and Jax, pirates and seducer.

I really liked both characters. They are not easy, they struggle but they still need each other and find themselves together despite all that goes wrong.

What I had some troubles with is the fact that the world is not clearly defined. We know they have modern technology like ours, but we still talk about pirates. And then, they are those with powers, vampires, maybe werewolves... it is a bit confusing.

However, I don´t think that this will keep me from readying the 2nd book. I´m dying to see how this sequel is going to develop.

This book brought me into the sereis. The characters rocked and brought out the basic issues for couples today which is fear of the unknown.

Jade is a princess who doesn't belong and is to proper to leave. She decides one night to visit the pub next door run by a pirate. She has no idea what she is in for and doesn't know what to expect.

Jax is damaged he has led a life of violence and has no desire to change. He is a womanizer and proud of it. That is until he meets Jade the virgin princess.

As their story unfolds and we are formally introduced to these two characters we see lots of chemistry and violence. I feel like I need popcorm because of the language and hitting that goes on. I mean they are witty and the banter is fun but these two can really go at it.

we learn though that maybe Jax is just to messed up to have a relationship with Jade even if it is only friendship.

I hated how Jade (main character) was like "He doesn't like me" , "He doesn't want me" Over and over again and how she punched the other girl when Jax wasn't pushing them away. I like it when the female takes more of an FU back atcha approach to show that two can play that game...

Overall this was a good read and I love that the other books are out so I can see what happens next. Last chapter was heart breaking...

Wow, this book was full of angst, violence, back-stabbing...and I loved every minute of it! It felt like I was on a roller coaster of deliciousness, and just couldn't get off of it.

At times, this book was hard to read. I felt sometimes that it was more of a fantasy book, not a modern day swash-buckler. But in the end, it came down to the relationship between Jade and Jax, and that was enough for me to rate this book a five.

This is MY Jax in all his dysfunctional yummy-ness.

This is the first book in the trilogy; don't miss out!

It's really difficult to describe Botefuhr's writing style, I guess the best description is low-brow. Some of the times it just makes no sense: the words are all in proper grammatical order and the editing is tight, but the though process behind the characters is idiotic. But it is still highly entertaining. In this book I really enjoyed all of the characters and all the drama that occurs, but it is a bit hard to follow the world that Botefuhr builds: there is not a lot of explanation or hinting at exactly what type of reality we are in (is it current time, is it a dystopian world, is it an alternate reality). If you can dismiss the nonsense and just enjoy the simplicity then it is a quick and fun read.

Here, I can sum up how I feel about this book in four words, SON OF A BITCH!!!!! I seriously want to do some harm to Jax right now. I get that there are reasons that he is the way he is, but, I'm sorry, he's an asshat. OK, back to the book....

Such a strange mixture of things. It's about freakin' pirates, but set in modern society. It had a historical/bodice ripper feel to it, yet it wasn't. I almost forgot about the paranormal aspects of it at times. There was something about adding Poseidon to the story that I never was able to buy into, but who am I to throw stones? This was a seriously angsty story which made it a true page turner for me. Really close to a 5 star read. I will be diving into book 2 as soon as I hit the enter button.
