Beautifully written

A decent compilation of pictures of Cupid, cupids, angels, erotes, etc. I was hoping for something that talked more about the changes in classical winged figures of various kinds over time. But this did have some interesting pictures. I gave it a 3 for those; on the strength of the text I'd only give it a 2. No bibliography.

Said pictures included: The Education of Cupid (Titian version, not the Correggio one), Young Girl Defending Herself Against Cupid (Bouguereau), and Parmigianino's Amor Carving His Bow. Brueghel the Elder's Fall of the Rebel Angels was also interesting, though not in the same thematic line. (Larger version here.)

I really love this book. It is basically a book of Angel pictures with some descriptions of the pictures. Although I frequently look through it just for the pleasure of it, it is also makes a good reference book on some great angel art.
