Down Time: An Oral History of the Lee's Summit Underwater Rescue & Recovery Team

Rate this book
This book was written from the oral transcriptions and accounts by our past and present members. Their stories highlight their service -- stories, which are captivatingly interesting and yet easily lost and forgotten as time goes by. This book is intended to capture those accounts on record, before the memories of them fade and are forever lost. Many incidents were not included in this accounting due to space, confidentiality, or time constraints. So, let the stage be set for you to enjoy reading what lay beyond...

A good account of the early years of the formation of the renowned public safety dive team. Topics include body recovery, searches for police evidence, and special training. Very few books deal with this topic.

Accounts of frost covered facemasks, diving in swift currents of Missouri River, black water, searching for decaying bodies, pulling families from 2nd story windows of flood swollen streets, out of control drag boat racers and the team work of the people who do this work.
