Some great, practical suggestions, but a lot of work and a huge time investment for any not in the practice already. My biggest takeaway was the power of descriptive praise.

Noel has a very clear positive parenting approach. This book is resource to go back to as children grow up, use what you need now. As usual, I find what she writes very useful.

I received this book to review on my Parenting blog, and have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

Janis-Norton does not present any "magic solutions" for tackling homework, but instead a series of "rules" and guidelines for parents to take control of their children's learning.

The programme is not for everyone: it's a rather "hands-on" approach requiring parents to give a considerable amount of time and effort (at least an hour a day, for six days a week in the early stages) which may jar with working parents or those who have little time to dedicate each evening. I have already put a couple of ideas into practise and intend to gradually build this up over the coming weeks but feel the improvements to my children's homework are visible already.

A great book for anyone wanting to take charge of their children's learning, and discover a few useful parenting tactics in the process!

A easy-read to understanding the primary objectives of homework and providing an understanding to parents', educators and other professional to educate and understand the benefits of providing homework in a society that debates the cost/benefits of providing homework to children in an already stress environment.
