Iris Last year for my 21st birthday, my younger sister bought us each one of those mail-in DNA testing kits. It was all fun and games until we received the results. I've spent the last year searching for my biological father, only to find he passed away a few years ago. But what I did find was a half-brother. He’s a professional hockey player, and I’m in town to attend one of his games. We’ve talked numerous times on the phone and even over video chat, but tomorrow is the first time I will meet him in person.
But tonight, for my 22nd birthday, I want to do something just for me—something to erase the heartache of the last year. Going from the daughter of a prominent congressman to the daughter of a deceased professional hockey player can take a toll on a person. Not to mention finding out your mother was once a puck bunny and you were conceived during a random hook-up. No, tonight I want to do whatever it takes to feel something again, anything, even if it is for only one night.
Jackson Hockey has been my life for as long as I can remember. The early years of my professional career are a hazy mix of alcohol and puck bunnies. But I haven’t been that guy in over seven years, deciding early on that I wouldn't be ruled by any skills other than my hockey skills. The puck bunnies still throw themselves at me, but I stay out of the limelight, choosing to hang out in the quiet hotel restaurants for a quick meal before returning to my room to rest up before games.
That was my plan tonight until she walked in, all long legs and curvy body. Her body alone could turn a Saint into a Sinner. But her face is a mixture of temptation and innocence. When her gaze falls on mine, and I see a spark of desire in their depth, all I want is to spend the night doing all the filthy things to her that are running through my mind. But after one taste of her, I'm not sure one night will be enough.
Book 2 in a series of hockey-centered novellas. I’ve read the first 3 and can tell you that one this one is worth your time. Stories are unrelated so you can completely skip the others in favor of this one.
The main characters are interesting and the plot was both believable and well done. The author was smart in not trying to tackle too much drama in this shorter narrative. The spice level is about a 3 and the conclusion wraps things up nicely with an appropriate HEA.
I was so pulled in by this story of Iris and her determination to be bold beautiful and sexy for one night. Having learned you have a different dad and that you have a half brother whom now your current family says will disown you. You meet Jackson determined and completely enamored by you. It’s those short stories you wish had more to it because you get so invested on the characters. It was a sudden ending and rushed but overall recommend to add to your TBR.
Iris just got some terrible news so she wanted to let loose. She didn’t expect to find what she’s always been looking for and that’s not only a family but true love. Iris met Jackson and she thought she was just going to be wild and free for her birthday but she fell in love. She also met her new half brother she has never met before and instantly had a family she always wanted. I cannot wait to read more about Dylan and Roses story!
I love these short stories that are part of a multi author series. You get to meet new authors you may not have read before. Winter Ryan is a new to me author and I'm very impressed with this novella. In this book you meet Iris and Jackson as well as her half brother and sister. I can't wait till the next book.
I went in to this story blind, knowing that the series is short spicy hockey stories. I ended up really liking Iris and Jackson's story. Their story heats up fast, but doesn't feel forced or rushed. It just fits.
Still sorry even though these weren't presented as novellas. Much better writing as the first. I love that there's a connected follow up novella of characters mentioned in the story.

Had a really hard time with this one and ended up not finishing it even though I was 80% of the way through. Spice level is high on this one and while the insta-lust was fine, the insta-love portion just smacked me in the face in a way that felt too much like it had no basis on anything other than sex as the characters didn't know anything about each other at all. Miss for me, though I would check out some of the author's others books down the line to see if their longer format works for me.
