Aline D. Wolf's best-seller, revised in 2009 with full-color photos. This guide gives a consise explanation of the method and materials used in the Montessori classroom for 3-6 year olds. An excellent tool for educating parents interested in or new to Montessori.
Very enlightening. Now I have more of an understanding of Montessori. I can ask my 3 year old more about her work and hopefully get more out of her that way rather than the typical “I don’t know” or “nothing” when I ask her about her day.
At the end of this book there was a section on what happens after Montessori and explains parents of Montessori kids are usually concerned about the transition to traditional school. I would say that is definitely something we think about and felt like this section of the book did not do a great job explaining or reassuring.
We received this book yesterday from the lead montessori teacher at my son's school. We missed the beginning of the year stuff so during a Parent conference we took the opportunity to go over the introduction information.
This book goes over all the basic montessori materials and activities. I especially like that I can now ask, "Have you done the pink tower, brown stairs or red rods?" and my son says, "I've done the red rods."
