Worldwide, ABBA is the second biggest-selling band of all time, surpassed only by The Beatles. Now, The Book presents the incredible story of four Swedish folk singers who went on to become one of the most influential pop groups of all time. Spanning their entire career, and featuring 250 color photos, this is the definitive book for all fans.
"What gives me most pleasure is that each of you, on reading this book, is going to discover- or rediscover-the story and the magic of ABBA." (7)
I really liked this book and the information in it. I did learn a lot. However, my copy of the book the font was so tiny and was super hard to read. I found some of the information irrelevant and some of it to be lacking personality.
This book was a medium read; as I read it in about 3 days!
I would recommend this book to any ABBA fan out there.
I read this coffee table book straight through. That may have been a mistake. Its detail is exhaustive about the groups’s day-to-day itinerary but light on substantive discussion of the recording process or group dynamics.
ABBA fans will not be disappointed with this book, which is the most comprehensive compilation of information about and photographs of the four Swedes ever published. There is little biographical narrative, and instead, readers will find a detailed chronology of the activities of ABBA on both an individual and group level. As it was published in 2000, the text about their more current activities is quite dated by now. But even at that, it's the best ABBA book out there.
