Two star rating because as an author I have a low tolerance for grammatical errors, spelling errors and prose that clearly did not receive professional editing and proofreading.

Were it not for that, I would rate this book with 4 or 5 stars for the messages it contains and the motivation it provides the children, like Richard, who need it most. It challenges them to stop making excuses and to DECIDE to be the best versions of themselves.

I want to recommend it to many, many people and will do so when it comes out in a second edition that has been professionally edited.

I had high hopes but the author who is now an Executive had grammatical and spelling errors in addition to prose that clearly was not edited. Its a shame that such books can be published-- a complete disservice to readers & to a potential audience that would have benefited.

Don't waste your time or money and find other books that are well written that provide the same motivational message. I could not finish the book due to the poor writing quality.

This little book was a gift from a donor to the non-profit where I work. Between books, I finally decided to read it. Unlike many other reviewers I'd never heard of the author and have no insight on him as a speaker, but I know many people who speak English as their second (or third) language and I'm not nearly as critical of the occasional little grammatical errors in the book.
Unfortunately, at mid-point I'm not thrilled with the book in general. At first I found the charming title and his personal stories so engaging that I really looked forward to reading more, but his stories turned to Biblical quotes and tales, little soundbites that are supposed to be motivational, and occasional etymology lessons about the Latin roots and meanings of some of the words we use. The swift read started sputtering like an old car running on fumes as I've lost interest in what he has to say.
I'll give it another day or two, but am not feeling optimistic.
***Update- Still feel the same as I did at midpoint. Not my cup of tea.

Love this story and simply could not put it down. It is an easy read and one that shows how enthusiasm for wanting to improve will take you a lot further than any formal education. There is a lot to learn here. Again, great story and a strong recommendation.

Overall not a well written book. Not fluid or easy to follow. I've met the author and he's a great speaker. It's unfortunate his book doesn't deliver on his eloquence. I do like the quotes and blurbs about his tough youth and experiences. It could've been better written, more in depth and an overall much better read. I read a lot and I was highly disappointed in this book one of my worst reads in ages.
