After suffering a broken engagement, teacher Rachel Hostetler is looking for a fresh start. When handsome Noah Lapp rescues her from a runaway buggy her first day in town, things seem hopeful. Then Rachel hears talk that Noah is expected to court her cousin, Charlotte. Yet Noah spends all his free time with Rachel. Will Rachel discover the truth without losing her heart? And find a happy-ever-after in Happiness, Pennsylvania?
Rachel is new to happiness. Where she will be the new school teacher. Her cousin Charlotte has a very good friend who Rachel finds very handsome. His name is Noah. Rachel thinks he and Charlotte are going to start to court. Rachael wishes she would be the one to court. A year ago Rachael was in a very bad accident. So she assumes because of the accident she will never have children. This was a very sweet story. I'm new to this author. I love reading about the Amish.

I just read a review of this book (2-star) that said that this was slow moving, full of mundane details, and immature. She rated the book for these things, but half of the reason that I rated this book high was for the same exact thing.
And half the reason I took a star away was the same reason.
Rebecca Kertz wrote a lovely story of a different kind of lifestyle. The Amish life simpler than we do. They move at a slower, different pace. It's *WHY* people are fascinated with the Amish - because of their differences.
HOWEVER, this one takes 'slow-paced' to a new level. "And today they got up and had EGGS for breakfast. And then they went out and milked the cow. The children tended the chickens. And then they went INSIDE to gather the laundry. After that, we get three pages of baking." I'm not kidding.
There is no real plot, here. There's a girl who likes a guy, who thinks her cousin might like him too... but she's not sure, so she starts no drama, and keeps her distance. The cousin starts no drama, so there's... no drama. There's nothing at all. It's just a very straight-forward love story.
This was a well-crafted story, focused on Rachel, who has moved to her aunt and uncle's Amish community to teach. Noah's rescue was a nice "meet cute," and was able to seamlessly cover Rachel's backstory. Noah's concern for Rachel paired well with her not wanting to come between his supposed relationship with her cousin. A satisfying book.
I love a Great Amish story. 😍 Rachel is a sweetheart who got a raw deal from her ex. Noah is a joker who loves chocolate. Their first meeting is stressful but it is LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. 😘 They have a few misunderstandings and Rachel is carrying a lot of baggage but in the end love prevails. 😊
Rachel had a bad accident a year ago and now trying to make a new start. She has a teaching job in Happiness, PA. On her way there, she meets Noah when he rescues her from a runaway buggy. Kinda likes Noah at first meeting, but then hears that he is suppose to be courting her cousin. So tries her best to contain those feeling, yet Noah seems to always be around. Seems to be seeking out Rachel.
Can anything come of this without hurting her cousin Caroline? I enjoy the Amish stories. The families seem so close, with the gatherings, barn raising and general helping each other. So if you also like the Amish books would recommend this.
If anyone deserves a second chance at a HEA it is Rachel. Even though she has been betrayed in the worst way by the man that she loved and her best friend, she is not bitter. She allows her faith in God to guide her to a fresh start. Although, she is cautious, she is still open to whatever God has planned for her life.
Although I really enjoyed all of the characters in this story, I absolutely loved Noah!!!
I really hope that this is the first book of many about the characters introduced in this story.
I would love to see if Noah gets to open his business and if they are blessed with a house filled with adopted children....
This was a very sweet, although predictable, Amish romance. I love Amish fiction. The reason this story only got 4 stars even though I really enjoyed it was because I just couldn't believe Rachel couldn't tell that Noah liked her romantically and Charlotte only as a friend. Over and over she kept referring to how she can't show Noah any emotion or affection because it would be betraying Charlotte, but couldn't she tell neither of them felt that way about the other? I did like how Abram finally realizes Charlotte loves him, so it was like two love stories in one. I'm assuming since this is a series, Lancaster County Weddings, I'll see Charlotte and Abram's romance fleshed out.

I so enjoyed one of Rebecca's books in this series that I found at thrift shop so have got more of the series from the library.
this story was about Noah Lapp and who will become his sweetheart. Everyone always thought he and one of the girls that he has known from childhood would marry, Charlotte. But she has her eye on another man in the community and when her friend comes to visit she just knows she and Noah would be good for one another. You will like all the ins and outs before they know for sure if it yes or no for them.
I kept turning the pages reading thinking that the big moment between the hero and heroine would come soon, but instead it was mostly about Rachel's day to day life(Cooking and more cooking) with occasional visits from Noah.
I would have liked to have seen more conflict between them. Everything happened far to easily for my liking.
Rebecca Kertz has created a beautiful, gentle story of hope and second chances. Rachel's heart is wounded, but Noah is just what she needs to heal…IF she'll only give him a chance. I love Amish romances and this one exceeded all of my expectations. I would recommend this book as the perfect way to spend a lazy summer day.
Noah and Rachel like each other upon their first meeting. But everyone, including Rachel, expects Noah to court her cousin Charlotte. Everyone is pleasantly surprised that Charlotte is not interested in courting Noah. She's got her eye on widower Abram Peachy and his children. Very enjoyable story.
This is the first book that I have read by Rebecca Kertz and I must say that she is a wonderful author. I read this book in 2 days. Rachel likes Noah and Noah likes Rachel but Rachel thinks that Noah is in love with her cousin Charlotte. Time and trust and truth reveal the truth and love is found.
