Jackson Hole #1

From This Moment

Rate this book
The last thing Rona Jameson expected was the scorching connection she feels to Cade Matthews. At twenty-four, Rona is embarking on what should have been her honeymoon to Jackson Hole, Wyoming…alone. Having just gotten out of one relationship, she’s hesitant to jump into another. But there’s something about the forty-five year old single father of three that calls to her.

Cade knows it would be best to steer clear of Rona, but he can’t deny the chemistry and longing he feels towards her. No other woman has ever made him feel strung so tight. The age difference between them however is something he’s not sure he can overcome.

Jake Matthews, Cade’s son, is heading home after receiving an honorable discharge from the Marines. He broke things off with Elise, six years ago, when he joined the service, afraid of her being left alone if something happened to him. Now he’s back and ready to claim the girl he’s never been able to forget. There’s only one problem, she’s engaged to another man.

Can Jake win Elise back and prove to her he’s worthy of a second chance? Will Rona and Cade overcome their doubts and fears, and the other obstacles in their way?

From NY Times Bestselling author, Lexi Buchanan, two love stories in one, with a touch of taboo.

I was born in Bolton, Lancashire within the United Kingdom, where I lived up until 3 years ago when I moved to Ireland with my husband, 4 kids and pack of animals. I can tell you it isn't pleasant traveling in a car with 5 cats in cat boxes in the back. Getting back into the car after the ferry journey to Ireland was the most unpleasant thing we had to do on moving day!!

We are now settled in a pleasant town called Virginia in County Cavan. The kids love their schools (once they get there!) and the little one loves her play-school where she goes with her imaginary friend, Katie.

My kindle is loaded with too many books to mention and I absolutely love to read when I have the chance.

I don't know what the hell everybody else who gave this book 5 stars read, but I didn't even want to rate it. Yep, that's how bad it was. The thing I dislike most about myself is that no matter now bad a book is, I still finish. I figure I've read about 40% of it, I might as finish.
In a nutshell, young woman gets dumped at the alter, goes on her honeymoon by herself, meets older man in airport, goes home with him, they tell each other they love each other 24hrs later, bunch of unecessary drama (crazy ex), they marry, she gets pregnant....the end! UGH! So fucking cliche'. Oh...they were so many fucking editing and grammar issues that I almost did not finish. I editing issues really got under my skin!

DNF - may go back. Just didn't hold my interest. While I enjoyed the main male lead, I didn't like the writing style. Seemed juvenile to me, but it seemed the story line had potential.

OOOH MY GOD

This book was sooooo cheesy !! I don't know if it's just me reading way too much "smart" and dark reads... But I truly felt as if the book was written by a fifteen year old (except for the NUMEROUS sex scenes...Gosh, do they never stop having sex ?!!), not to mention that it was hard for me to connect with both the couples.

Also, the way Cade's (45) family reacting to him being "in love" with a 24 y.o jilted bride (clearly on the rebound and who seemed to have NO worries concerning her failed relationship) was ASOLUTELY UNBELEIVABLE. I mean, SERIOUSLY, they were like: "oh hey dad, you fell in love after 24 hours ? Oh and she's 24 ? she's younger than your children ? Oh okay that's cool. You deserve to have sex regularly now."
WHAAAAAT ??!!!!

Now, let's have a little chat about the characters.

Cade: 45 y.o Horny man who's had NO relationship whatsoever for 20 years and experienced love at first sight with a 24 y.o female. Oh and has magic sperm. And grandkids.

Rona: 24, lived in Ireland for 10 years, never picked up the accent. Jilted by her fiancé, but really doesn't give half a shit about it, likes older (really older) man, took her half a day to jump on Cade and declare herself "falling in love".

Elise: AKA Mary sue the crying doormat. Enough said.

Jake: one of this book's redeeming qualities.

Finally, the epilogue should basically be renamed the Cheese Fountain, with a sprinkle of twins :) (or the TWINS INVASION, you choose)

Ouf, done.

Sexy! Steamy! Hot! Witty! Depicts the story of Cade and Rona. Rona heads to Jackson Hole seeking to heal a broken heart in the same place where she was to be celebrating her honeymoon when fate steps in and she meets Cade Matthews. Their chemistry and attraction is undeniable. However, will the difference in their age allow their love to flourish?

Love is not planned. Cade is new to love never having been in loved before. “You have to find a younger guy to be with, although it will kill me,” Cade tells Rona resisting their love. Rona is twenty-one years younger than him. Having been attracted to older, more mature men has never been an issue. Yet, she fears how his children- who are around her age- will react. Rona always wanted to have and be part of a family. Will she finally have the family she’s always desired? Will Cade and Rona’s love be accepted? Will age be a factor preventing love?

Follow the sexy, steamy, hot and witty story of Cade and Rona’s love in “From This Moment” by Alison Chaffin Higson. The love for each other and family support will help them face and overcome misfortune.

This book is GENIUS. A profound romance told from both points of view. I absolutely love all the characters. Today I want to take them out to dinner and "catch up." The different perspectives made the romantic moments even more erotic. The story line is full of suspense and raw emotion. I laughed, fretted, and cried. I cannot wait to delve deeper into the other characters as this series continues. Pure genius! 5/5 for me. I will recommend this to everyone.

When I first read the synopsis, I was a bit skeptical about the age difference between Rona and Cade, but once they're together you can see how perfect they are for each other. They're adorable and Cade sounds so hot for an older guy! I couldn't put it down and I know you won't be able to, either!

Allison Chaffin Higson is an awesome up and coming author and I can't wait for what's next!

Big, fat, DNF.

The writing killed this for me real quick. It was choppy, all over the place, and felt like the first draft of a high school creative writing assignment: it wasn't terrible, per say, but it left a lot to be desired. It needed work, it needed an editor, and it needed a bit more effort put into it.

The writing was in the "tell not show" style that usually pisses me the hell off and it was in present tense, another pet peeve that (thank god) i rarely, if ever, come across:

As I stand alone, looking around, trying to decide which way to head to wait for my onward flight to Jackson Hole, I feel lost and I’m not really sure what I’m doing here.

I HATE present tense. It just feels wrong to me. There's just so much that can go wrong with it both grammatically and in general. Not to mention very few writers have even gotten it right, let alone enough to make it ENJOYABLE. Reading From This Moment was like reading someone's diary, with all the run on sentences, grammatical errors, and novice writing to go along with it.

That aside, very little was described. Like ever. A room was described in one, short, to the point sentence, and people, feelings, even events, were done in the same manner. This made the whole book feel undeveloped and cheap.

Then, to make matters worse, the sex scenes were stale and awkward. They were literally like a paragraph with short "i touched him. He liked it" sort of sentences that had me more confused than anything else. They weren't even GOOD lines either.

I reach between us and smooth my thumb over the tip of him. He groans. Moving down his length, I take a firmer hold and position him at the opening of my sex. Holding there I take a deep breath to try and slow down. I realize Cade is as worked up as I am.

This was after about two lines of foreplay. Wow, so much steam, someone hold me back I don't think I can take all this lust and excitement.

description

It's like having Spock read a fucking Erotica: "They touched each other. They liked it. They then proceeded to copulate and it was nice." (But now that I think about it an Audio book read by Spock would be fucking amazing. Who hasn't done this yet, someone get on it asap.)

But whatever, I read (maybe) the first chapter, the writing made me cringe so hard that I skipped all the way to the end and I was glad I did.

This book is really two stories in one. This is not a good thing.

The first story, the main story, is about Rona, 24 yrs old, and Cade, age 45. I really enjoyed the beginning of their romance, although it was a very cliche and OTT insta-love. Still, I really liked how they didn't deny their attraction and came together fairly quickly and drama-less. Because you kinda get the sense that drama will come in form of a douchy ex. But then the "I love you"s where spouted every other page and it got too sugary sweet for me. The so called drama was over in one-two page and left me with a big "huh...."

The secondary story follows Cade's son Jake, who's returning home after being honourably discharged from the Marines due to severe injuries. He's trying to win back the love is his life, Elise, whose heart he broke 7 years ago. Only problem is now she's engaged to someone else. My problem: Elise was too forgiving and Jake was just weird most of the time. At one point he says Elise is an idiot? I have no idea why? I didn't get that... Maybe it was a typo? It just didn't make any sense.

Both stories had great potential, if they had not been compiled into one book. It would have been so much better, had the author given Jake and Elise their own book and focused on developing the Rona and Cade story. It could have been so darn good!

And I never though I would say this, but there was too much sex in this book. Wait, let me rephrase: there was too much boring sex in this book. It didn't really serve the story other than as filler.

One star is for Cade.. He was hot and sweet. And I never worried about the age difference which I feared going into this. The other star is for the beginning which made me swoon and smile.

Who says things don't happen for a reason? Who wants a cowboy lawyer or a marine cowboy? Cade and Jake were very well written characters and I loved that they were gentlemen. Rona and Elise two women that found love after a cancelled wedding and an engagement that should have never happened. These two found love in the arms of men that cherished them. One that fell in love for the first time and the other that never stopped loving the woman he was meant to be with in the end.

There was a mystery and an intense sense of emotions for me in this story. I enjoyed this book so much. It made me think that no matter what is going on love is still in the air. Rather it be a first love or a love that will never end. I recommend this series and I am looking for to Grace and Josh's story.

I will say the fathers relationship and the sons in one book felt a tad uncomfortable for me jake and Elise's story should have been book number two.....in my opinion just to weird.....I mean no one wants to know about they're parents just eww.....I can't say it lol....I was brought by the stork that's all I need to know lol...give one couple the spotlight ay to much going on....reminds me of those movies where it bounces around from couple to couple....what was that movie ummm Valentine's Day?? ....I will say Cade did not come over as a older man to me....come on a 45 year old can't keep up with a 24 year old maybe I'm wrong don't really care to find out though...nor are they as compatible as Rona and Cade just saying!!

Overall this book was okay. I liked the characters and the story well enough, but there was just something missing. I read it start to finish, and the characters themselves were what got me into the story. There's a good amount of drama with a whole lot of insta-love going on, which isn't necessarily bad, but again it just felt like this book was just missing something.

I just wanted more from it. I wanted the characters to develop a little more, and the story itself felt rushed at points where it didn't need to. Though I have to say I enjoyed the author's writing style and that did make it easy to start this book. I was also drawn into the characters, and I liked seeing what happened to them in this book. It had elements I liked and didn't like, and the feel of it overall was okay.

Couldn't finish the first chapter (6%)!! I was really trying to push through the description of Cade wearing his cowboy boots, longer hair in the back, and his massive hard on; attempting to go easy on the war between father and son over the same girl they met 5 minutes ago; I tried to disregard my disgust face while reading about Cade rubbing himself off in the airplane' s bathroom over the girl that (AGAIN) he just met 5 minutes ago; after her waking up in his son's arms.. WHO DOES THAT?... she agrees to stay with these complete strangers while in Jackson. With the same duo that groped her, and masturbated to her on A.PLANE. WTF?! Sorry folks, but I just can't do it :(

ok I'm sorry to say that this book just did not do it for me, if you like sappy love story types that have no angst, no wondering if they'll get together because they do from almost the beginning, then you will like this book, but for me I found it to predictable, boring even. The sex scenes were good but that was the only thing about the book I liked, the characters were way to over the top, in love instantly and even the bad parts were over so fast that I wans't sure anything bad really happened. I have read other books by this author and liked them but for me , not this time:(.

Well, to start out, this book had too much sex and pornographic scenes. I think if the story had more of a story and less sex, it would of been a better book. I love the fact that Rona fell for a hot handsome male Cade who was 21 yrs older than her. I think they fell for each other to quick and needed more drama and suspense within the story.

Editing is absolutely awful, and that's saying something for me when I'm not usually bothered by it. If it's a good engaging story, the. I can usually overlook any errors easily. Not the case with this book.

This seems to be written in haste. Sentences were very simple. (I did this. I did that. He did this. ) needs a lot of fine tuning.

I like this book but there a lot of editing issues and the plot is a little thin... I would like to see more time in between the two Mc’s before marriage ..... i agree with how the plot is and no one talks like these characters ..... unless they were brought up segregated from everyone.

Though I do love the book I can see some major ways to improve it...

So... I guess I'm a walking contradiction, I do believe that love shouldn't be complicated, but... this story is just to insta - love for me... I mean meet Rona she just got left at the altar, and two days later she just forgot about douche-face and I think that even though I love funny and easy to read stories I do enjoy the twists and turns!...

This was a pretty easy, relatively conflict free read. I can understand the desire to not want any conflict between the main couple but it also makes for a sort of boring story. There's not much drive to keep reading if everything's just hunky-dory. But I did like it. I was so happy that the best years of Cade's life weren't behind him at 45, but ahead of him.

I really liked the idea of this and the story line. The only issue I had was how proper the characters spoke. People from Wyoming dont speak like that. Most Americans dont speak like that especially people on a horse ranch... it annoyed me a little.... it also makes things seem super cheesy.

Makes a change to have an 'older-man' as the love interest. I really liked that Rona and Cade loved each other throughout the book and weren't ashamed to show their feelings"
