I enjoyed reading this book.
Imogen is Mute, she's chosen to live that way because of her past. She's had a difficult life as a result of her asshole parents and jerkwad of an ex-boyfriend. Adrian, who is her father's gay lover (yeah, I know!), is her protector- a big brother type. She's finally had enough of her father being and ass and decides to move out, but she needs a place stay for a few months before school starts.
Enter Saxon... a great guy, single father who works hard to provide for his 5 yr old. daughter Bailey. Prue, Bailey's mother, splits when she finds out Bailey is deaf at a year old. Sax and Bailey have just moved into Tom's cabin and a Tom asks Sax if Imogen can stay with him for a couple of months. At first Sax hates the idea. He finds Imogen super attractive, but doesn't want anything distracting him form his work or Bailey.
Once Imogen moves in, Bailey falls completely in love with her... she's not the only one though. Both Imogen and Sax have dark pasts, but neither one can ignore the attraction they feel for each other.
A beautiful love story! A feel good type of book. Alternating POV, which I loved! Although I felt Imogen and Sax relationship was going at super lightning speed, their feelings felt real, and their love developed prefectly. The story was original - a nice breath of fresh air. The writing was great, I think Ms. Copp did an amazing job writing Sax's POV- super funny and very guy like. Both Imogen and Sax are great characters -strong and immature free. It was great to finally read a book with no back and forth banter. And of course, the hot and yummy steaminess of the book gets 2 thumbs up!
This is a pretty calm and mellow read. Although there is some drama, it gets resolved with very little angst or steam. There is no huge climax, just a few bumps in the road. I usually enjoy a good dose of angst and suspense... hence the lower rate. It had nothing to do with the book, just my personal preference.
Totally ends in a HEA, and has a great epilouge. Enjoy!
