L.L. Hunter does it again! I was given the honor of reading this book for an honest review and I loved it! Pym and Rush are awesome characters and I can't wait to see how their relationship develops in the coming books. The world Pym and Rush have grown up in believing their group are the only survivors surrounded by ocean. Their lives are about to take a turn when Pym and Rush start to question what they've been told and learn there is a secret that her father has been keeping from her and from everyone, a secret that changes everything.

Damn one of these days I am going to pop my Mermaid cherry, but not today.

Okay first off: This was given to me in exchange for an honest review, and honesty is what I do. With that said I have to admit that this is a 4.5 stars for me. I can't openly say way because SPOILERS, but i will put it at the end and hide it ^.^

Kay now onto this review

Song Choice: "Into the Ocean" by Blue Ocean because I like to do that every so often, "A Beautiful Lie" by 30 Seconds to Mars, "My Best Friend" by Weezer

First Thoughts: Well this was a quick read, not only because of its length, which I don't mind the episodic sort of thing, but I will say this, it was just fast in general, the plot moved at a really fast pace which i really like. There were somethings i wish we could have slowed down on though only because this is a whole new type of dystopia, I guess i wanted to know more about the world before. Anyways moving on, it brought in a whole lot of new ideas that I thought were interesting and totally just like WHOA.

Thoughts on Plot: So I already covered that it moved fast, it was original...and oh god my first thoughts were mostly plot...whoops. Anyways Yeah there were a lot of new ideas presented in this book. It seems that most dystopias are like, welllll here is the world but its either dried up, or blah blah blah, but this was the first time i have seen a Waterworld sort of thing, which it was really awesome. There was a lot of mystery here and unexpected-ness that you will be going, Oh i think i know, but you don't so HA. ;)

Characters:

Pym: She was stubborn and I think had a little too much faith in each other too much time. I think that she was looking for the best in people when she shouldn't have been. I wish that she was a little more open with her BFF Rush, and main man. But otherwise than that she was a really good character. And I enjoyed her chapters.

Rush: For some reason I feel like this was more his book than it was Pyms for the most part. And personally I love that. I really do, its rare to find a book that is more for the guy than it is for the girl. I think that he was a pretty excellent character there were a few times i was hoping he was going to be a little more forceful, but omgosh thank god we found out his secret early otherwise i would have driving myself crazy with trying to figure it out. Anyways....yeah...

The ending: :| <= my are you for reals? Don't leave me hanging face. Yup. Need more. NOW. NOW NOW NOW. SOOOOOO MUCH MORE can come from this and I wantz it now.

so HUGE SPOILER PLEASE DON'T READ UNLESS YOU WANT THE BOOK A BIT RUINED

I won't lie, when the lovely Ms. Hunter announced she was writing a book called Aqua Secrets and I saw the cover, my first immediate thought was...omg, mermaids!!!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Ms. Hunter knows how I feel about mermaids.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
And even as I was debating the odds of me sucking it up and reading this book, I already knew I would, but only because there is nothing Ms. Hunter could put out that I wouldn't read.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
So I did. I read it and, as I suspected, I loved the book (and no mermaids in sight!!)
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Our characters are Pym and Rush, childhood friends who only recently realize that there may be a little more than just friendship between them. I love young love. But there's something dark and sinister happening in their little world.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Then...THEN!! Just when you're chewing your nails down to the cuticles, Ms. Haunter leaves us dying for the next book. Oh believe me, I let her have it!!! I also told her I would be kidnapping Rush and putting him in my closet. But that's neither here, nor there.

Okay, Ms. H...Get cracking. I needz book 2.

This is a series review as it onto book five already! This is a fast paced series very suitable for tweens to early teens, although the two main characters do have sex by hook two I think. Not detailed, but you know they have done the deed!!! So in that case it would depend on the maturity and preference of the reader. Anyways, these novellas move fast and the two main characters Rush and Pym are deeply connected, for more reasons than one, and their obsession with each other reminds me of the crazy obsessed heart racing young love I experienced at their age. Oh young love. Add to that forbidden love, and you always have a good story. The world the author has created is well thought out and the concept of a genetically enhanced super race as interesting as it is disturbing. Pym starts off very young and sheltered for an 18 year old. And naive. And controlled. But by book four she's developed a backbone and is thinking and acting on her own desires and moral compass. These books are great easy reading with a fun storyline.

Not a lot of notes or highlights for this one as it's short I'm going to have to stop reading short stories/novellas because you get to start reading and into the story and it stops and it really annoys me, why do I keep doing it because I know the author. Anyway I loved Rush, "god, she was so damn beautiful, and I tried with all my might and all control to walk over there and steal her oxygen by kissing her. Did she have to stare at me as if she wanted to do the same? I had to get out of there." It was a good story, somewhat entertaining, but just really short.

Aqua Secret is another homerun for Author L.L. Hunter. Pym and Rush are the main characters of this book. They are teens who are trying to make scense of their new feelings for each other that go beyond childhood friends. While discovering their feelings for one another they also become aware of strange happenings and lies that are going on right under their noses and their fathers are involved. This was a wonderful book that takes you into another world instantly and you will want to consume the whole story in one setting.

The Aqua Secret is set in the year 2042. The old world was flooded and only the strongest of the species survived, or so they thought. Pym and Rush have been led to believe that through evolution, they have evolved, and there community were the only survivors of the great floods. Curiosity reveals something different, something sinister and against nature. I don’t want to give it away, so if you want to know what it is, you will need to read the book to find out.

It's safe to say that I'm a huge fan of dystopian books, I wish there were more decent ones out there. L.L. Hunter has done a stunning job with the first installment of The Aqua Saga. I was drawn in from the first sentence, and could not put it down. I do wish it were longer, but that's my only gripe. Though, that has a lot more to do with my own need for answers than anything else.

I cannot wait for the next book!

LL hunter has a way of sucking you right in from the word go. Her stories are always highly original, fast passed and Aqua Secret was no different. If fact so far one of my best reads for the year. The ending was something tender and special - just perfect. Thecrescendo of events was a perfectpace and one hell of a thrilling ride.

This review is going to be brief because unfortunately the book is fairly sparse. It only has about 70 pages. When the number of pages the truth that I discourage a little; I love long books because the longer, the more details (to some extent clear). So my fear was real since the shorter the story, the faster it reproduces; And this case is no different

That does not mean that it is worse at all; Simpemente is like when you see a movie based on a book, you feel that everything is very fast. Well this is the case with Aqua secret but not bad bad.

Of course the writer XX has had a lot of work, because explaining a story in such a small space has had to be a challenge. But leaving that aside, let's focus on the story that's what we're here for.

We are in a post apocalyptic future, there is no habitable land, the world has sunk in a total and absolute water mass; Imagine Underwold the movie of bruce willis as a style to that but more modern.

Our protos are the children of the bosses of the cottaro; Son as of the second generation
I do not want to count too much because if it is brief in itself ...

We have two points of view, the two protas. I have never been displeased with a person in a book, but what I did not like so much is that when there is a change of person, this one returns to revive what happened in the previous chapter and can be a little chaotic since like any End of cocoon they leave you in the most interesting moment by what you want to continue lyendo and suddenly like what you return to the past ... a little rare

My surprise at the end of the book was that there is a continuation and the truth that I was glad to leave you with the like for more. Since when I've been afraid a book of this style is usually 1 book and no more.

In conclusion, the truth is that the story is curious and entertaining and that of all the books i've read of post apocaliptic world none had ever developed in the sea.
So if you want a change when reading you can try this!

"Secrets and water have one thing in common:
they get distorted on the surface."

I have recently found this book and I was at first allured by its mysterious cover and by the synopsis. I usually do not tend to read e-books since I do not own a suited e-reader but I really wanted to give this book a go since it was not that big and it sounded really good.

After reading a few pages I was really wondering what the book was about and I somehow dived in the story without even realising how the pages were flowing beneath my eyes. I was captured by the plot and by the characters of the book.

The chapters alternated between the female protagonist, Pym, and the male protagonist, Rush. I really like books that have two characters who show their own side of the story, informing the reader with more things that help him understand the things that they are supposed to overcome as the story evolves.

I really liked this book since it brought something new to me. The secrets that are held at Aqua, a floating city, make the reader curious and more curious. The dark secrets that revealed in front of my eyes made my jaw drop since when I began reading "The Aqua Secret" I had no idea of what the big secret would actually be.

The main characters, Pym and Rush, who have been friends since they were young, were to my liking. As time had passed they started to have another view of one another but their fear of ruining a friendship does not let them take a step further. Their bond is strong and they always are there for one another despite their rare arguments.

When I found out that most of those who remained alive (after the world had been consumed by water) got the ability to keep their breath under water for a longer time than normal humans can, I started to wonder how that was possible. Rush had been capable to stay under water for a longer period comparted to others of his kind and, when he realised that something with him was starting to change...he wanted to keep it a secret, even from Pym. Secrets among secrets, lies among lies. Pym is scared when she finds out an unbelievable truth that she did not want to acknowledge.

This book was a combination of romance, secrets, fear and betrayal, a dystopia which kept me reading and reading, hoping for the characters to confess their love and survive the dark secrets that are bound to make the next generations something that could be considered unearthly...

I did not give the book a full 5 stars since there is room for improvement but I want to say that it is a really catchy read! I am curious if the next book will be more awesome! I am really curious what is going to happen next and I have big expectations!

Quotes:

"I looked around and could see nothing but ocean. There was no land in sight. There were others floating on pieces of steel just like my family and me... but where we were floating to - I did not know."

"I would often lay in bed at night and dream that Rush and I were swimming to another community and that they would befriend us and show us their ways. But I knew this was only a dream."

"God, she was so damn beautiful, and I tried with all my might and all control not to walk over there and steal her oxygen by kissing her. Did she have to stare at me as if she wanted to do the same?"

"Looking up at the surface of the water, the sun's rays were bright so I could see his face clearly. He swam toward me and put his hand on my waist. I smiled at him to thank him for coming with me, and he nodded."

" “That's exactly right, my dear girl.” I clenched my teeth to stop my jaw from popping open in shock. “You and your little boyfriend are what I call the future. You are the Adam and Eve, and who are going to give birth to a new race, a brand new species.” "

*SPOILER ALERT*

First off, I would love to comment on the incredible book cover made by Mae I design, it was the perfect cover to suit such a unique and out of this world book. We are thrown into this incredible dystopia world where the waters have completely flooded the earth, driving humanity into the sea. What could've been the moment humanity was washed free from existence actually created a completely new society and a new way of life for those who managed to survive.

We are introduced to the strong headed Pym, who is not only dedicated to her sister and family but has the itch to find out the truth about their world. She, and the rest of humanity who had grown up on the floating city of Aqua were brought up to believe they were the last remaining humans to have survived. The truth and secrets that her father tried to cover is chilling, when Pym and Rush start to find clues that nothing is as it seems.

But Pym's father isn't the only man that is holding onto a incredible secret. Rush, through his entire friendship with Pym, had considered her his best friend and secret crush. But when he hits the water something extraordinary happens that just takes your breath away.

This was such a unique idea, it was fast paced, never stopping as the twists and turns keep coming at me like relentless waves. I especially love l.L Hunter's creativity and the swarm of emotions as Pym and Rush not only figure out their fathers' deception, but attempt to de-tangle the web of love formed between each other.

The Aqua Secret was an amazing book! It was nice and short, which made it easy and fast to read. The book itself was well written, and the story went along fast, keeping me entertained. I liked the prologue, and all of the characters were fun to discover.

The whole idea of the plot was very original. The world gets engulfed in water, ending life as they know it. They then live in vessels on top of the water. Laura did a good job at keeping things a secret until they actually happened, all the while giving hints as to what was going to happen.

The characters were nice to get to know, and the character development was well done. I love the chemistry between the main characters, Pym and Rush. They are so cute together, it makes me smile. I also love Clover and Brayden, as they are cute as well.

Laura's writing style is perfect. I liked how the point of view alternated between Pym and Rush. I think it was a good idea, especially since we can see how they react individually to the same thing. I really enjoyed the story, and I really hope there will be a second book coming out soon! I am definitely giving this book 5 out of 5 stars.

The story has a concept I haven't seen for a while - a floating city in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Pym is the one of the protagonists, a 17 year old natural born swimmer living in The Community after a world wide natural disaster wipes out the world's population in 2012.
Not to give anything away but this novella has a twilight-like twist you will like.
After seeing something on the watery horizon, Pym and her best friend Rush got out to investigate, hoping it's another community they've been devoid of for years. They discover something that will change their lives forever.
I came across L L Hunter's work through Facebook. I'm glad I did. Her writing is quick and precise, very empathetic to her teen protagonists.
Her story is original. I like the dystopian theme which involves a world wide disaster that leaves most of the population dead. It's all about human survival.
I have to say, as a animal lover myself, I enjoyed the scene with the baby animals. I won't say more to avoid spoilers.
For a quick enjoyable read, don't pass on this novella. Looking forward to the sequel.

Wow I was completely entangled in this story from the moment I started reading it. The Aqua Secrets was such an awesome fast paced amazing story that left me wanting to know more. Pym and Rush are the two main characters I absolutely fell in love with both of them. Rush is such a beauty. As they discover the feelings they have for one another along the way they also discover there are secrets being with held from them and the whole community. As Pym an Rush set out to discover the mystery and gain some answers they also find that their fathers are involved somehow. What lies in the truth that Pym and Rush must find out? I can't tell you that is for you to discover on your own. I will tell you that this book is so worth the time to read it and that I can not wait to see how this story plays out. L.L. Hunter has me hooked and now I need the rest of the story like a fish needs water!

This was the first book I've read by this author, and I wasn't impressed. But I wasn't so disappointed that I wouldn't read anymore of her books. I hope to get ahold of her others. I liked that the book was fast, and to the point. At the same time, it was so short that there really wasn't any character or story development. It was like the bare minimum written to make a story, something you would write as a benchmark in junior high with only and hour or two to write. That being said, it was still an interesting story, and I would still be interest in knowing what happens to the people of Aqua.

This story has a fantastic concept of a dystopian water world where evolution takes a drastic change as the need to evolve can’t wait for nature to do it at its own pace. The two main characters, basically star crossed lovers, have numerous secrets and lies between them and their parents, which keep getting discovered. There are a lot of great aspects of this short story, but I feel like it would have been even better if it has been about four times as long. I was just starting to get to know the characters and the unsettling environment they live in when it abruptly ended. I’m excited to see where this is going to go and am hoping for a little more depth and volume in book 2.
