There is no boundary when it comes to love and lust.
David Sinclair has been in love with Molly ever since she walked into his life. The problem is, the Sinclair line is destined to only love one woman. At least, that is what he believes. When he gets Molly pregnant through one night of passion, he does the right thing and marries her.
After twenty-five years of being in his dead wife’s shadow, Molly demands a divorce. When David refuses, she has no other choice than try to make it work. She is in love with him and wants nothing more than for him to whisper those same words.
Can David rectify the sins of his past? Will he be able to move on and accept that Molly is the woman he loves? Or will he fail and finally know what loss truly means?
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
I confess I tried to read this a while ago and it was every bit as awful as I was afraid it would be. She is an idiot with no self respect and he is an abusive (emotionally) asshole. He did not redeem himself imho and the ending was too quick. I was gonna click dnf 'cause I skimmed a lot of it, but it was only 100 pages. Maybe I might have liked it better if I wasn't acquainted with the jerk H from a previous book. The hole he dug for himself is 25 years deep. That's a big pet peeve of mine. All those sweet bouncy boob years wasted on a seemingly loveless relationship. I couldn't even like the h because I couldn't relate to her martyrdom.
Well she stayed with him for 25 years knowing he would never love her, this is completely on her. He was idiot and dumb, because he didn’t actually love his first wife, it was more a silly crush but he fell out of it very soon, and he hated her in the end and was so happy that she died when they had their third son. Both characters have been unhappy or at least not satisfied with their marriage. Even if most blame the hero totally I can’t agree with them. The heroine willingly stayed in a marriage where the hero since the start admitted he would never love her and was very grumpy and closed with her. She knew and yet stayed with him until the last son became independent. Which was not necessary. She was hired as a nanny for his three children he had from his first wife and he felt immediately attracted to her, and wanted to marry her. So it’s not as if he was indifferent. He even trapped her with a pregnancy which means he wanted her as a mother of other children and not only a nanny. He was always faithful but never showed her a lot of affection, even if he was always very attentive and solicitous. So it’s not as if he’s been completely bad. He was emotionally closed but this was also her fault for not saying anything regarding that. She never told him they had issues, she always accepted everything he dished out. Then when she told him she was going to divorce her because he didn’t love her he told her he always loved her. So imo both characters were guilty of something and their issues could have been solved with a good and healthy communication. His problem was he didn’t think he could love another woman because his father told him they never loved more than a woman in their life which is dumb and ludicrous but he knew he always loved her, and he wanted to be with her. Even when he was with his friends he was calling her, and missing her, so what does this mean? It was quite sad that both spent decades being trapped in their own personal inner lies but, again. Their fault. Both of them. I don’t think they wasted time though, I think that after they cleared the air they can view their past life differently and understand that in the end they always acted like loving partners even if they thought love was not in the equation. So I rate two stars, because 25 years trapped in an unsatisfactory marriage is not sustainable, and because the elephant in the room could have been solved with simple and easy communication.
I agree with you Bron. For 25 years David has made up excuse after excuse to avoid telling his 2nd wife that he loves her, despite the fact that he trapped her into marriage by getting her pregnant. Even his own children were dead set against their mother staying with him. I found David's excuses had no merit. And Molly - she made an attempt to develop a back bone when she asked for a divorce but it was just that, an attempt. I didn't like either one of them, yet continued to read until the end. lol!

It's very unusual for me to not like this author's work, but in this instance I just couldn't get my head around the male leads reasoning. He's been married to Molly for 25 years, in all that time he's treated her abysmally, he's never told her to her face he loves her. Instead he's repeatedly stated that there's nothing that compares to your first love, in David's case it was his first wife who died. So why Molly waited 25 before telling the big jerk she wanted to divorce him was ridiculous. Of course he's having none of it, and it's a bit late in the day for him to have an epiphany IMO. Although this is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone.
Sam Crescent is a grrrrrr author for me. I usually can't stand her heroes but find myself wanting to read about them anyway.
I was biased in regards to David because we'd been given quite a bit of info in the previous 2 books and knew how shabbily he'd treated Molly. I didn't buy his excuse for stubbornly refusing to tell Molly he loved her and towards the end we have this 'who loves who the most game' which seemed childish and ended up with the kids (both when they were younger and adult) losing this tug of war.
25 years of some truly awful treatment and Molly was just too loving to stand up for herself??? Sadly, I just couldn't respect her in the end.
I've read a lot of Sam Crescent books but somehow this series has pasted me by, I liked the synopsis for this book, the twenty-five years of being in his dead wife's shadow had me intrigued but I generally don't read books out of order so I checked out the first one 'Blaze's Second Chance' and the reviews were not good at all, on top of which I didn't really like the blurb, the second book 'Taking His Woman' while the reviews were better than for 'Blaze' they were still mixed so I decided to skip them both and stick with David and Molly's story. Because I was fresh to this series I didn't approach it with any negative feelings towards David which I think the readers of the previous two books did, this said it didn't take him long to annoy me and I have to say even after finishing the book I still for the life of me can't understand why he acted the way he did, why he treated Molly the way he did for twenty-five years...I mean seriously. This said it's an engaging read which I enjoyed but I won't be going back and reading the first two but I think I'll read Trent's book, now that sounds interesting.
I read this book first 😲 yep and I was not disappointed at ALL. 💥🔥💞😩😂 It had a little of everything I could not stop reading this book. Glad David and Molly got their life resolved.Sam out did yourself in this one for sure.
One thing I’ve learned about Sam Crescent books, they’re either really good or just there. There really wasn’t anything special or outstanding about this book. I haven’t read the other books, but this feels like it was filler just to give everyone a book about the parents.

I hate to say that I skipped the other two books and read this one first. I don’t think that I missed anything. I believe that I needed to read the book about the parents before I read about the boys so that I knew what was going on.
Molly was once the woman that took care of David’s three sons. One night she took up for them and things got out of hand and David finally gave into his feelings that he had been hiding for five months. He wanted Molly to get pregnant so that she would be his forever. He makes her feel that he doesn’t love her and she is second best to his wife that died giving birth to their third son. Molly doesn’t know that David is keeping secrets about his first marriage and she feels bad about never getting David’s love. They go on to have two sons of their own and when Molly turns 50 her three youngest talk her into giving divorce papers to David and finding that will love her.
David won’t give her the divorce she is requesting. He knows he won’t live without the woman he has always loved and he starts to realize what he has done the twenty-five years of their marriage. He has a lot to make up for and he has to tell his sons to get out of his life and let him show his wife the feelings he has always felt for her.
I have read many books by this author and I will tell you that she really knows how to write her books and get the readers involved. I was crying almost through the whole book. It was really emotional. Going back and forth between memories in their marriage and what they are going through now. I have to say that I have never cried so much while reading a book. When a book gets to you this much you know that the author has done a great job writing the book. The characters were great and yes at first David wasn’t one of my favorites. Once I got to know him my mind was changed. I could feel the love that these two had for each other and it made me wish for that kind in my marriage. I know that there is ups and downs in every marriage. That is what made me love this story so much. Nothing ever turns out the way you thought it would.
I would tell everyone to read this series. I am glad that I started where I did but you might want to read yours in order.
I LOVED IT! I really enjoyed this book.I fell in love with Molly right away but my love for David took awhile. I didn't like how the storyline jumped so far ahead nto they're lives. You miss so much of their life together. The stuggle for David was difficult but he made his bed. I don't understand how he could treat Molly that way after Isabella was so mean and nasty. To keep putting his needs ahead of Molly's was hard to read. I wnted to scream. Molly is so sweet, loving and forgiving you can't help but fall in love with her. I love how the boys take up for her. I don't know how she was able to stay with him for so long. I woukd have made him grovel alot longer. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
Ok so David is one misguided, blind male, but he loves Molly and he finally figured out HOW to show her and tell her. Molly has been a long suffering wife but she admits she has not always got it right either and she loves David. I found this an emotional story of a mature couple fighting to make sense of their marriage and how to be more honest with each other. Having been married for 24 & 1/2 years myself to a non-perfect male I know that there are times when it all seems too hard...you work through it. Despite the mixed reviews, I really liked this story and I enjoyed reading about David and Molly's struggle to get it together.
Hmmm...Spent some time thinking how much star I'm willing to give this one. It's a hard decision considering how good I am at holding grudges. What I hated about it, i think, is how much time they have lost. It's just too damn unfair- why do the bitches get nice treatments and the nice one, the one who actually deserves love, gets anything but that?
Still...I liked how the hero showed the heroine he loved her in so many small ways- though it was still lacking, I like how he knew all along he loved her. That doesn't stop me, of course, from wanting to throttle the crap out of him.
I did like this story, it was great to see what happened to Molly and how she'd been effected being David's wife. I found the novel dealing with more flashbacks, then forward personal issues but never the less it was nice to get the full story. I really can't wait for the whole Ben, Trent and Elizabeth novel. Talk about kinky. lol
I read a review of this book and was intrigued, so I figured I would start this series at the beginning. I am really glad I did. I really liked this book. It shows two people working on a marriage of twenty-five years. One has just about given up hope, when the other realizes what an ass he’s been. I really liked it. I think Sam Crescent gets better with every book she writes - love that this book features a mature couple (the heroine is 50, the hero significantly older). Love her alpha male heroes!!! ;-)
I do wish Molly would've made him grovel longer - 25 years is a long time to act like a complete asshole.
Não precisava este livro... a história deles foi contada ao longo dos anteriores, mas até que foi legal a leitura. O cara é um verdadeiro idiota e acho que ela tinha que ter mandado ele passear muitos anos antes... Aguardo o próximo!
